Date Night
Chapter 7: Date Night:
Loki was sat in his reading nook with a cup tea of steaming next to him. Keeping an eye on the boys as they occasionally ran into the house to get something or another from inside. A drink, a snack, just chasing one another the reasons varied, but he didn't mind. They only had so much time together to enjoy the freedom of their summer before they would be going their seperate ways for a little while.
He was a little worried about how Kevin would do since it would be his first year at Summer camp without his brother, but he was a little social butterfly so he would probably be just fine once he got there and saw his friends, but this time together was still important. Mobius was at work, but he had been working half days this week, mainly in the afternoons so he could have some extra time with Kevin as well before he had to go.
He looked up about an hour later as he heard Kevin and Sean come running into the living room. A little out of breath and red in the face. "Loki can I take Kev and a couple of his friends out for a couple hours? I wanna take him them to the arcade I went to the other night."
Loki considered that for a moment before he looked to them. "Curfew is ten o clock." He said as he reached into his pocket and handed over fifty dollars each. "Do you guys need a ride? How far is this...arcade?"
Sean shook his head. "It's not far and Macy's mom is going to give us a ride."
Loki nodded approvingly and bit back a knowing smirk at the dreamy look that flitted across Kevin's face. Ah yes. The suspected girlfriend. "Alright, is she on her way?"
"Yeah she's gonna be here in about twenty minutes." Sean said.
Loki smiled a little. "Well then have fun you two. Don't cause to much trouble. Remember your manners." He said as he gave them both a hug before he released them so they could go get ready.
Once he saw both of them off and gave a wave to Macy's mom and she waved back as the boys climbed into the back of the car before he shut the door and looked around the home with small sense of unease. He never liked the silence. Maybe a trip to the store was in order. He could get something to make a nice dinner for him and Mobius. It had been a while since they had been able to share a romantic meal between just the two of them.
So he changed, made sure the house was locked up and then snagged his keys and headed to the market which thankfully was close. He grabbed a cart and took his time looking through the his options. He snagged two candles and a decent candle holder for the table. He picked out a bottle of nicer wine than he normally felt inclined to spring for these days and then headed over to the steaks. He took some time perusing his options. Looking over different cuts of meat and finally settled on two really nice ribeye steaks. He selected some nice potatos for garlic mashed potatos and some asparagus and a couple other things to make some dessert.
He felt a little better once he got home and he put on some classical music and connected his phone to the bluetooth speakers in the kitchen. Another addition Mobius had put in just for him. Bluetooth speakers all throughout the house so that when he was home alone he wouldn't have to be in silence. Really...what had he done to deserve someone like him?
He shook his head as he toed his shoes off by the door and hung his keys back on his hook. Rolling up his sleeves and shrugging on an apron he set to work.

By the time he heard Mobius's car pull up out front promptly at six o clock he was putting the finishing touches on the plates. There was an apple pie cooling on the counter, had been for about two hours now, the table had been redecorated with a white table cloth and the candles.
Mobius's little whine was the first thing that greeted him as the man stepped through the door. "What are you cookin sweetheart? It smells heavenly in here." He said as he bent down to take off his shoes.
Loki chuckled as he made his way to the entryway, having turned down his music when he heard him pull up, but left it going for atmosphere and placed a proper kiss on Mobius's lips as he wound his arms around him. "Hi." He murmured once he broke the kiss and looked down at him with all the love in the multiverse.
Mobius swallowed and then smiled a little, but there was concern there as well. "Are you alright? Where are the boys? Why is it so dark in here, you don't usually like the dark."
Loki reached up to rest his hand on Mobius's cheek. "I'm alright. Sean wanted to take Kevin to the arcade for a while before they both part ways on Monday. I told them their curfew is ten. Macy's mom is with them."
Mobius relaxed a little before he looked around. "Still doesn't explain why it's so dark..."
Loki chuckled as he nudged him along to the stairs. "Go get changed into something a little more comfortable and then meet me in the dining room." Was all he said before he flitted back to the kitchen.
Mobius, helpless to do anything, but what Loki asked when Loki asked so nicely did as he was told. He changed into a comfier shirt and pants and took a moment in the restroom to freshen up a little before he made his way back downstairs.
Loki was just setting down the plates on the table when he saw Mobius walk in and he smiled, but there was a blush on his cheeks. "It's been awhile since we've gotten to do something like this and I...I couldn't really stand being home alone with nothing to do. I made your favorites. Steak and garlic mashed potatos, aparagus."
Mobius blinked as he took in the sight of room that had been transformed into a romantic setting. Almost reminding him more of a table that was tucked away in the back corner of some high end low lit restraunt than his own kitchen. "Loki..." He breahted out, but no other words came.
Loki looked down a little at the table with a little cough, but Mobius could tell he was pleased with his reaction. Finally he remembered how to walk and he made his way over to pull out his chair for him.
Loki murmured a thanks as he took his seat and then watched as Mobius took the one directly to his right which had been moved a little closer so that they could be closer together.
They ate together and got to share murmured conversations about things they normally couldn't speak around the boys. Laughing quite a bit as they recalled some of the more amusing adventures they had had at the TVA to musing about how the rest of their friends were doing.
Mobius cleared his plate and when he thought his evening couldn't get any better Loki came from taking their dishes with two plates each containing a big slice of apple pie and a healthy scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Mobius's mouth watered as his plate was set down in front of him. "You know if they boys weren't going to be home in an hour I could almost lay you on the table." Mobius said as he took an appreciative bite of his pie. His eyes fluttered shut. "Gods above Lokes it's perfect. Your cinnamon to apple ratio is spot on."
Loki was happy to accept Mobius's praise as he chuckled and took a bite of his own. "I know. I think it would be a cardinal sin to be married to you and not be an expert in pie making by now. Otherwise how am I to prove myself a worthy suitor?" He said with a laugh.
Mobius laughed at that as well before he took another bite.

Once they had finished dinner Mobius helped Loki clean up together and then cuddled up on the couch to watch something on the TV. He wasn't to sure what because he was busy snogging his husband. He pried his lips away from Mobius's though when they heard the front door open. Loki was on his feet first and he offered a hand to Mobius who accepted it.
They both went to greet Sean and Kevin. The latter of the two carrying a huge stuffed spider.
"Look what I won!" Kevin said proudly as he held up his prize with pride.
Loki made sure to give it a very appriasing look as Mobius ruffled his head. "You two have fun?"
Sean and Kevin both beamed, but those those smiles quickly turned into yawns and Loki chuckled. "I think it's bed time for both of you."
"Ahh but..." Sean was interrupted with a yawn. "Me and Kev were gonna play some videogames."
Mobius shook his head. "Bedtime. You guys can play some videogames tomorrow."
Kevin tried to protest, but he to was cut off with a yawn and both boys finally relented and made the way upstairs to their rooms to settle in for the evening. Loki waited while Mobius turned off the television and then they made their way upstairs as well. Stopping by both boys rooms to knock on the door and bid them both a good night and pleasant dreams.
Once in their own room Loki sighed as he shrugged out off his clothes and collected the green robe decorated with the roses.
"You okay?" Mobius asked once he joined him on the bed and he moved over so that he could lay his head back on his chest and listen to Mobius's strong and healthy heartbeat. Steady in his chest.
"My son is moving to one of the most dangerous cities in the nation. I don't think I'm really going to be okay for a little while. We have to help both of them pack on Sunday."
Mobius rubbed sooting circles on his back. "I know sweetheart, but you're still doing amazing. We'll be okay. I promise you."
Loki gave a small nod. He knew it was a lie. Mobius was only human. Elongated his life span may be from the cruelty of the TVA, but he was still very human. Just as fragile as them. There was no way he could truly up hold the promise that everything would be okay. There was always room for something to go wrong, but he still appreciated the sentiment and he let the words calm him. "I think Kevin has a crush on Macy."
Mobius chuckled. "We've thought that for a while. Did you get some more solid evidence tonight?"
Loki laughed at that. "I did. You should have seen the dreamy little look that he got when Sean mentioned that she was going to the arcade with them. I may or may not have passed along the name of Kevin's summer camp to her mom and helped her with some funds so that she could send Macy this summer."
Mobius shook his head, but his smile remained. "You mischevious scamp. Trying to play match maker now are we?"
Loki shrugged. "You said it not me."
"She's a nice girl though. Really smart."
"Mm...guess your son picked up your type hm?"
Mobius raised an eyebrow. "What, for Gods?"
"No. Insanely smart and beautiful individuals."
Mobius laughed at that as he reached over and turned off the lamp. Leaving only the soft glow of Loki's little nightlight on his nightstand and pressed a kiss to the top of his head. "I love you Loki."
"As do I Mobi." Loki murmured as he snuggled a little closer to Mobius somehow and twitched a finger to pull the blankets up over them.
