A surge of Power and a Rebirth

Klaus in Rehab

Klaus Hargreaves sat on the edge of his bed, staring at the sterile white walls of the rehab facility. The room was bare, save for a small nightstand and a single window that let in a sliver of sunlight. The air was thick with the scent of antiseptic, a constant reminder of where he was.

He ran a hand through his disheveled hair, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts. Getting sober was the hardest thing he had ever done, and the temptation to give in to his vices was always lurking in the back of his mind.

“One day at a time,” he muttered to himself, clenching his fists. “Just one day at a time.”

Klaus’s thoughts drifted to his powers, the ability to communicate with the dead. It was both a gift and a curse, one that had brought him more pain than solace. He had seen things that no one else could see, heard voices that no one else could hear. And now, he was trying to silence those voices, to find some semblance of peace. He had been arrested and ordered court mandated rehabilitation. Klaus was sure his dear old dad had something to do with it, because he had absolutely no access to drugs at all. Ben was taking this time try to help Klaus get a better handle on his powers, and one of the workers had gifted Klaus some headphones that acted as noise blocker. so while he couldn't hear the ghosts anymore he could still see them. but it was still a trial.

The day before his release, Klaus found himself in a heated argument with Ben. Ben’s ghostly form flickered with frustration as he hovered in the corner of the room. it was something that they discovered about Klaus's powers a couple of days into his stint in rehab. Klaus had to admit he was doing better but he wasnt so sure about when he got out. homeless and jobless and unwilling to go back to the academy.

“You think getting sober is going to fix everything?” Ben snapped. “You can’t just run away from your powers, Klaus.” this has been an ongoing argument. Klaus understood in a way he did, buthis powers just weren't something he understood.

“I’m not running away!” Klaus shot back, his voice trembling with anger. “I’m trying to get control of my life. You don’t understand what it’s like.”

“I understand more than you think,” Ben replied, his tone softening. “But you can’t do this alone. You need help.”

Klaus turned away, his eyes burning with unshed tears. “I don’t need anyone’s help. I can do this on my own.” Klaus felt rage for a moment. rage and anger at Ben trying to dictate his life because he didnt have one of his own. if he could give ben life he would. Klaus shouldnt have to live his life according to Ben's advice and opinion.

Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through Klaus’s head, and he doubled over, clutching his temples. The room seemed to spin, and he felt a surge of energy building within him, like a storm ready to break.

“No, not now,” he groaned, trying to steady himself. But the power surge was relentless, and he could feel it growing stronger, threatening to consume him. He had been feeling this build up for days and of course it had to happen on the day he was meant to be leaving this place.

“Klaus!” Ben called out, his voice filled with concern. “Focus. Breathe.” Klaus hated the spike of irritation that bubbled up at Ben's voice and tried to push it down. Klaus tried to follow Ben’s advice, but the energy was overwhelming. He felt like he was being torn apart from the inside, and the room around him began to blur. In the midst of the chaos, a blinding blue/white light filled the room. Klaus closed his eyes, feeling a strange pull, as if something was being drawn towards him, his fists clutched tight. The light intensified, and suddenly, Ben was visible and his hands were over his stomach. a brighter light and Ben grew brighter before something seemed to tumble out from under his ghost brother's shirt.

Klaus blinked, trying to make sense of what he was seeing. There, lying on the ground, was an infant. The baby looked up at him with wide, curious eyes, and Klaus felt a jolt of horriefied awe. he glanced at Ben and also the door to his room.

“Who… who is this?” Klaus stammered, his voice filled with awe.

Ben knelt beside the baby, his expression a mix of shock and curiosity. “I don’t know, but he feels… familiar.” which was odd as Ben nor Klaus had ever seen this infant. Klaus thought it was familiar to Ben because it came out of him. Klaus’s heart raced as he looked at the infant. There was something about the baby that tugged at him, a connection he couldn’t explain.

“We have to take care of him,” Klaus said, his voice trembling. “He’s a miracle, Ben. Our miracle.” Klaus was known to make stupid decisions but this decision also came form fear. if their father found out about this...

Ben nodded, his eyes filled with understanding. “We’ll do it together.” He didn't know how Klaus did that and he vowed to find out later but for now he would not argue with Klaus. Lest Klaus get upset and summon more babies fall out of Ben. Ben didn't mention the odd purring and satisfaction coming from the Horror.
