Secret from the underground
"I'm Bullseye, pleased to kill you" said the target themed costumed man throwing three of his metal card at a speed that surpassed bullets but Peter dodged them all with ease "You missed" he commented before retaliating with a webline but Bullseye simply cut it with the flick of the card in his hand "You too" said the criminal with a clearly crazed face.
Okay, Peter had to fight off a crazed killer while hoping the girl hidden behind some shelf hadn't bailed on him and brought said girl home, all that before the police and Sentinel Services were here, easy.
Bullseye threw cards after cards in a rapid pace that forced Peter on the defensive, each throw was precise and powerful and whatever metal those cards were made of was cutting through steel and concrete but Peter dodge them with ease while throwing webs at his opponent who either dodged them or cutted them, it was a stalemate.
At least until now.
"Well, the big guy told us to only use them for emergency but I got no other choice" muttered Bullseye while taking something out of one of the pouches on his belt and tossing him at his opponent.
Normally Peter could dodge something like that in his sleep as his eyes and reflexes were way better than a normal human but this time they played against him, since his eyesight could allow him to track bullets in the air it allowed him to see perfectly the pumpkin looking high grade grenade that had been thrown at him and he froze, that wasn't possible but it was and the explosion threw him backward while setting him on fire and that is when shit really hitted the fan.
A screech of pure pain that came from none of the human in the warehouse defeaned them but it was the last of their worry as the black Spider-Man suit suddenly expanded and shot tendrils from all over itself that began to whip and snap wildly while it hissed like a wounded beast as as if it was alive.
Bullseye watched the suit expand and tore appart whatever was near of it's tendrils in mixed awe and terror but it soon became dread as Spider-Man or whoever was that thing turned toward him, the whole suit design had changed, the white line were harsher and some veins like shape coursed all over the black parts but what really stood were the fact that the gloves had extended and now looked like 20cm razor sharp claws and the set of really sharp teeth on the now open mouth of the mask.
Benjamin Pointdexter considered himself a rather tough guy, he had fought and survived every war since WWII and got recruited by HYDRA who pumped their experimental version of the Super-Soldier serum wich didn't make him strong or fast but slowed down his aging after that he left the Nazi and became a mercenary until 2 months ago when he was drafted by his new boss for a well paying job that allowed him to fight supes like the Dardevil, Cage or like now Spider-Man and doing all that he never felt fear.
Until now, whatever that thing was it was totaly terrifying him, the creature shot toward him at blinding speed, his claw like hand outstretched and ready to tear him appart piece by piece and he barely managed to roll out of the way.
But the second he lifted up his eye they widdened as they saw that his opponent was jumping forward claws outstretched and ready to tear through him, their death dance continued for a bit longer but it was clear that he was way out of his league and in the next instant the fight came to an end.
He tossed three of his new explosive cards but the thing dodged them all and retaliated and missed his head by an inch, they shattered the floor bellow him as one of the claw like finger pierced through his right shoulder and the concrete under him.
He was lifted off the ground by his pierced shoulder and constated with horror that during this brief fight the creature had became even more terrifying, it was now as large and tall as the Hulk and a giant tongue licked the now even bigger and sharper set of teeth and the creature giant maw opened wide ready to bite off his head and that's when Bullseye saw his death but at the last second he fell on his ass and looked up to see the hulking creature shaking and shrinking slowly but he didn't waited to see why and ran away after grabbing the uncouncious kid.
When Peter counciousness came back he realised that he was alone in the destroyed warehouse, the Goblin bomb must have knocked him out allowing Bullseye a window to escape with the kid, he needed to move and find them and fast, he flung himself outside and up in the sky.
He probably had been knocked out longer than he had previously thought because the sun was setting down and the authority were nearly there, shit and he had no way to track Bullseye, he knew of someone that could help but he was not sure that it was a good idea, fuck, was all he thought before making his descision, that kid had been kidnapped to coerce a man into cracking one of his father work, this was his responsibility to stop it, whatever it takes.
But the real problems were how could they have Legacy's data and how come Bullseye had used a pumpkin bomb, those thing were heavily encrypted and could only be used after getting unlocked by Norman Osborn secret password voice and Peter knew how hard this was to crack it as he had spent a full week trying to pass the multiples layer of securities to no avail, two dreadful theories made it to the top of his head, 1 someone had the smart and the tech necessary to bypass Norman Osborn personal server wich was a highly unlikely and a quite dangerous possibility.
Or worst Norman was somehow alive but that was impossible, he had been impaled on his own glider, Peter was there when it happened, the police had confirmed it.
But the more he swinged through New York the more the 'what if' gnawed at him taking more and more space in his mind.
He finally reached the Queens and soon his aunt house and noticed that she was already inside meaning that he had to use his bedroom window to get in and change but as soon as he formulated the thought 'change' he felt the suit churn around him and let go of his webline in surprise, luckily for him he wasn't really high and a he fell in a dumpster in his usual Parker luck style, he would smell like trash but hadn't broken anything.
All thoughts about smell vanished as he realised that he was not in his Spider-Man suit anymore but wearing a black turtleneck with black jeans and shoes "Okay I really need to understand what you are" Peter said out loud looking at the morphing suit "And to understand how Osborn made you" he added before walking toward his aunt house and walked in, his aunt was whistling some tune he didn't recognise while cooking something.
"Hello aunt May, I'm home" said Peter as he entered the house and his aunt turned her warm gaze toward him and it turned a bit quizzical as if she knew something was up but couldn't figure out exactly what but it vanished quickly "You changed" she asked a bit of confusion in her tone and Peter realised that the clothes the suit had turned into weren't the one he had this morning "Oh yeah, I spilled some coffee on me at lunch and got home for a quick change" he lied quickly and his aunt nodded "Oh okay, go shower we'll eat later" said his aunt raising an eyebrow and Peter remembered his earlier dumpster fall "Yeah I'll go"
Peter got to the bathroom and once he was sure that the door was locked, he decided to test the suit, first he made it shift into the Spider-Man suit and in an instant he was clad in the black and white suit then he made it revert to casual clothes, then into a full three piece buisness suit, he continued playing with it making it change into multiple type of clothes and lastly he thought of it leaving his body and the whole thing slithered away and gently laid on the chair behind him leaving him in his underwear "Okay, that is cool" he said out loud, no need to buy clothe or to put them in a bag and the possibilty to change into Spider-Man in a blink was way to good.
Once he was showered and didn't smelled like trash anymore Peter was about to grab the suit when a thought passed in his head and he took a step back and extended a hand toward the suit who simply laid on the chair, at first nothing happened but when Peter was about to let go of the idea it started twitching and slowly slithered down the chair and on the tiles of the bathroom but the second it made contact with his skin the suit moved in a flash and he was clad in a simple black shirt and sweat pants.
Peter noted amazed that the suit could be remotely controlled and that while it could do colours it seemed to favour black and white, the scientist in him really needed to get Oscorps file on the suit and to do some test himself because that suit could be a revolution in many domains if mass produced but all of that would have to wait, he needed to eat and to make a call.
Once he and his aunt had ate and did the dishes Peter walked to his room and opened the top drawer of his desk and took the burner phone in it before dialing the only registered number in it.
It rang twice before the person on the other side answered "Parker, that his a surprising call" said the man "Let's cut the crap Fury, I'm cashing in my favors" stated Peter and he didn't need to see Fury to know that he was surprised as he answered "And how could I help you"
"I need you to track a guy name Bullseye, he managed to slip off with the kid kidnapped yesterday night, she's held hostage to get one of your guy to crack the Legacy formula wich I'll point hadn't been informed was stolen" and he heard Fury sigh on the other side of the line.
"We didn't tell you because you needed a break after the Goblin, I already failed your mother when I let you keep being Spider-Man, I wasn't about to toss you back in the fire after you quitted" and Peter while not knowing much about it knew that his mother had been a SHIELD agent and that had been why Nick Fury decided to protect his identity from the government and why SHIELD was basically paying his aunt bills since Ben's death.
"Yeah, okay that's nice of you but I'm back at least for now and I need what you can get me on Bullseye and anything on the Goblin tech, Bullseye had some and I want to get it all burnt before it's in the street" detailed Peter his anger bubbling up at hhe mere thought of Osborn tech in the hand of someone.
"Understood, we'll contact you when we got it" answered the SHIELD director knowing better than to try to take the boy away from the case, this was personal "On one condition, you don't burn yourself up, I know that grief and anger mixed with a case as personal as this one are a bad mix, the second I even think that you're not in your right mind I'll get you out by force if needed" stated Fury before hanging off and Peter knew that the man was dead serious.
He was about to put the phone back in it's place but he started toying with another idea, SHIELD could get a lot of intel but not much on the black market while he knew of some people that owed him favours who could easily get the intel that SHIELD couldn't get their hands on but doing it meant that it would be way harder to stop being Spider-Man after it was done and decided that it would wait.
Peter sat on his bed utterly exhausted, his day had been way too intense, becoming Spider-Man again, failing to save the kid, learning that some people wanted to do something with his father research and that someone was using and selling the Green Goblin's tech to criminals, his day had somehow ended worst than it had started and the mental exhaustion caught up to him and he fell asleep.
When Peter opened his eyes he wasn't in his room but he stood on a giant blue glowing web in space or something similar but what was surprising him was that it didn't felt like a dream and he realised that he knew this feeling, it was exactly like when he used his Spider-sens.
"I didn't expected to see you here so soon" said a voice behind and Peter spun on himself to stare at the woman behind him with a quizzical look in his eyes, he didn't knew why but he felt some kind of pull toward her, like they had met before but he still couldn't tell where or when.
"You have not seen me" said the woman leaving to wonder if she was reading his thoughts "But I watched you, I have seen who you are and what you can become" continued the woman calmly "from now your path won't be easy, it will be dark and bloody but it will be yours to walk because you're the only one who can" and for whatever reason Peter believes the strange dream/lady that stood on a magical web.
But that didn't meant that he had to likd it "Why me, why do I have to be the one to lose again and again, that's not fair" he roared as he got in the blind woman face who simply looked down in his face as if she could see.
"Life never is" answered the woman calmly "But despite all of the pain and sacrifice you never lost the spark, you never lost sight of the responsibility that goes along your power, that is why you're a hero" and despite his willingness to argue Peter knew that whoever she was that woman was right, he had worn back the mask at the second someone had been in danger, because in the end he was more Spider-Man than Peter Parker, more the hero that Gwen and Ben saw than the boy they had loved.
"That isn't exactly true either, is it" asked the woman kindly and at this Peter had no answer.
"Spider-Man is the power that allow you to fight for a better tomorrow but the drive and heroics are all Peter Parker traits, Ben Parker may not have the power we both had but he still lived through his saying in every way, you don't need super power to have responsibility"
"If you can help you must" finished Peter "You knew him didn't you, personally not just through the web" stated the boy as he waved his hand at the web-thingy around them and the woman gave him a small smile "Yes, before I became the me I am now, he was my partner and probably my only friend, he even introduced me to your mother during her baby shower"
"Well, I can't say that I remember" lightly joked Peter and the woman gave him a soft smile before waving her hand causing their surroundings to change as all the strands became two paths, he caught glimpse of what await him on each one, one was peaceful but ultimately bland, the other was full of pain and hardship but in the end it held some kind of beauty.
"I showed you the paths but it is up to you to walk it" and Peter understood the choice he had to make, be Peter and live a normal life or be Spider-Man and suffer through countless of hardship.
"We both now wich one I choose" and as he took a single step his appearance switched from a 16 year old boy to the form of a hero dressed in black and white "That's the path he would have took, because it's the right one" and the woman smiled at that "beside I know a Matrix ref when I hear one"
"Then go Spider-Man"
