sorry for running into a burning building

Peter very rarely goes somewhere without his suit.

It seems like where ever he goes crime and or danger follows;

It was a easy task, get milk from a store a few blocks down for hot cocoa and cookies.

Walking through the slow falling snow under the street lights while listening to music was the perfect way to start winter break.

Peter imagining himself drinking cocoa and eating chocolate chip cookies with may made his stomach rumble, and his legs move a little faster.

The store was practically empty, no one was shopping on a snowy Saturday.

Grabbing milk and a small surprise snack for may took only a second, Peter left a small tip before yawning as he walked back outside into the cold.

The calm tiredness quickly disappeared as his Spidey sense went crazy.

moments after he heard an echoed scream of a women, and saw heavy pure black smoke flying into the air; a red and orange glow burning his eyes just looking at it.

He dropped his bag and ran to the scene, firemen gathered outside the burning building.

He overheard one of the men mentioned the fire couldn't have started naturally and gotten this bad, this was started on purpose.

The women he heard screaming was sobbing into a doctors arm, wailing about her daughter trapped inside.

"You can't stand around and leave her in there! Please! I'm begging you!" the women cried and the doctor could only reassure her they will eventually.

He couldn't stand around and do nothing.

He couldn't ignore this and go home.

He didn't have time to get his suit! He didn't have time to waste at all!

He only knew someone was in danger, and he had to do something.

Ripping past police tape and pushing through firemen trying to stop him, he broke open the front door, calling out to anyone who might be stuck inside.

The first floor was clear, Peter had to break open another door to help an elderly man escape on the second floor.

He ripped off his jacket as he ran inside and the rooms got hotter, using his shirt to cover his face while he stomped up the stairs as quickly as he could.

He heard the screams of a young girl on the floor above, the stairs had collapsed and he had no choice but to climb.

It burned his hands turning them both a bright red, he wasn't as strong anymore, it was only getting harder and harder to breathe.

The girl had tucked herself into a corner in the hallway, she was turning pale.

"Hey! Your okay I've got you!" Peter picked her up carefully, his legs almost gave out as he gasped for one more breath of air and carried her to the broken stairwell.

"I'm going to lower you down! You have to run down stairs as quick as you can okay?" the girl nodded tears streaming down her face.

Peter put her down as gentle as he could, dropping her and watching her stumble down the stairs to safety;

He swung his legs over the ledge dropping down only to collapse into a coughing frenzy.

His vision blurring he had maybe three minutes to get out before he completely blacked out.

He picked himself up and carried himself along before practically having to crawl out of the building.

Firemen quickly helped him stand, getting him an oxygen tank and praising him for somehow surviving long enough to save everyone and get out almost completely unscathed.

His pants were burnt and what was left of his jacket wasn't doing much to protect him from the cold.

He closed his eyes for a moment before waking up to a figure running to him.

"Peter! Jesus Christ your driving me insane! Don't ever try anything like that again!"

May sobbed seeing his burnt hands and destroyed clothing.

"Sorry"

his voice was weaker than he thought, and his throat iched even just saying the single word.

"The whole thing was broadcasted on the news I thought I was crazy when I saw you! Pete you cannot just dive into a burning building!"

She pulled him into a tight hug to lower her voice, "the one time I send you out of the house without your suit, I thought it would be an easy trip!"

He couldn't respond with his throat stinging as strong as it was.

Two news reporters began to crowd around him, asking him his name and why he did what he did.

Cameras pointing at him making his cheeks grow redder with slight embarrassment.

"How do you feel being a hero?"

He already was one, he always has been;

May started pulling Peter away gently to avoid the overwhelming questions, hugging Peter once more.

"I'm so sorry may I just... I saw the fire an-"

Peters voice gave out and he began to cough uncontrollably, may gently rubbing his back comforting him and telling him not to speak until he felt better.

"I know baby, your so brave but.. You just scared me, I know how strong you think you are but your still a child hun."

Still rubbing his back, slowly swaying from side to side like she used to when he was around six or seven;

They would lay on the couch together and she would just sway and hum, holding him closely.

"Honestly, I'm proud of you."

Peter looked at her, may wipeing tears from his eyes and rubbing ash off his cheek.

"So proud.."

Peter was taken care of by doctors for about an hour before he was able to walk back home with may.

On the way hope Peter noticed something lying on the ground in the distance.

"Oh hey!"

"Wait Peter!"

May called out for him as he rushed to look inside the bag, laughing and pulling out her favorite flavor of barbeque chips.

"Surprise" he smiled as may put her arm around him laughing along.

Walking through the slow falling snow under the street lights while listening to aunt may laugh had to be an even better way of starting winter break.
