PEGGY STARED DOWN at the papers. FIles and documents occupied the dark brown desk belonging to carter, as most were off home to their missues or home lounging comfortably after such a day. Maybe even off in the room per say--more so of a gymnasium really, at the celebration---laughing off their stress. Unfortuntely, that was not the case for Peggy--- even with how much she wishes, and how much she'd loved to go ahead, but work was more important unfortuntely.
Her painted fingers grazed over the papers as heard from bellow, a jazz band played in the larger room--muffled slightly due to the elevation of the room Peggy occupied alone. To her surprise, the knock on the door which allowed the entrance to the wide office space belonging to her and many others. She had taken that everyone would attend that loud but joyful celebration that would toll her so--that it would of made her head go clockwork. But, the agent rather skip that step for the already stressful day that busied her day.
Although, the agent reconized the way you knocked. Her Favorite nurse. It was you. Her breath of fresh air in this god forsaken job she decided to take---(even with knowing how already hard the pastones were.) --- she still had It. "yes?" answered Peggy, her gaze not taken off to spare a glance to the entrance. "Peggy?" your voice filled her ears. Her once tense shoulders seemed to be taken back to her being non tense...a weight she didn't even realize till now.
A smile graced her lips, "Come in," she answered, allowing access to you entering in. Her gaze focused on you solely as you walked in, heels clicking against the ground, dressed seemingly more comfortably---oh assuringly quite pretty--- but out of your Nurse uniform. Your hair was no longer seemingly slightly messy due to the reckless workers, and you seemed so calm. She'd envy you if she didn't care for you so much. But, carter loved you.
"still working?" was what took her out of her admiring trance. You and your worry some self. She adored that. She smiled, and sighed, "suppose you could call it that," she spoke, "why? not enjoying the party without me?" teased Peggy, but a hint of worry aswell. She knew something, anything could happen, and you were the very last person she wanted that to happen to. A hum came from your lips in response, "not exactly," that made her expression become curious, what was it then?
"you've been working all day," you stated, "how come you wont come down and celebrate, Howard decided to 'surprise' vist with some...pretty good stuff." you spoke, an chuckle escaped her lips. "Quite the man he is," she said, "I don't believe Rodgers is doing any well? After all, Howards tastes may be farther than the man could handle, then again--that is my assumption." you smile at her words, It was true, at the moment he was resting in the nurses office. Although, you had swore to hush on it.
"He's alright," You told her, "he might get a toll taken on him from it, but he's alright." she nodded at that. Before her gaze focused on you. Noticing her gaze, you smiled. Rising from the wall you leaned on you sat in one of the chairs infront of her desk. Head laying on your arms that were folded on the desk. "Aren't you returning to the party?" asked Peggy, a intrested look in her eyes. Curious on why exactly why you were hanging around insted of going back down to the lively crowd.
You only answered proudly with a--"keeping you company, ofcourse." only to earn a chuckle from the agent. She found your pride so induring. It's what she loved about you. The night between you two was spent conversing on either work or just whatever you or her wanted to talk about. Teasing and laughter filled in the private moment between you two.
that was atleast...before you fell asleep. She had noticed you sleepy-ness, and shook her head in disbelief, a smile played apon her lips. She had decied to (oh so kindly) ask Jarvis and Howard to help you back home.
Oh how she loved you.
