Kurt, late as usual, teleported into the kitchen. His holowatch was on already, his backpack strap clutched in his hand.
“Kurt!” Kitty whined, coughing. Kurt had teleported right into her walking path by mistake.
“Sorry, Kitty.” Kurt laughed, moving out of her way. On the counter was a plate of toast everyone was grabbed from.
Kurt grabbed one, shoving it into his mouth.
“You’ve got feet, don’t you?” Scott chuckled, grabbing his lunch from the fridge.
“But that’s not nearly as fun.” Kurt said through the toast, reaching around Scott to grab his own lunch.
“We’re gonna be late!” Jean called from the hall, passing by with her bag.
“Half pint.” Logan called from the hall, coming into the kitchen.
“Mr. Logan? What is it, like, we’re gonna be late.” Kitty shoved her lunch into her backpack.
Logan smirked, holding up a set of keys.
Kitty gasped, smiling. “No way.”
Logan nodded. “From the professor. Good job passing your drivers test.” He handed her the keys.
“Yes!” Kitty cheered, racing out of the kitchen.
“So, who’s going with her?” Scott smiled, walking out of the kitchen.
“Not it!” Rogue, Evan, and Kurt shouted, looking at each other.
As they shouted, the hair on the back of Kurt’s neck stood up. The air around him hummed, his fur went staticky. It’s what he felt when he teleported, except, he wasn’t teleporting. He was standing in the kitchen next to the fridge.
“-urt? Kurt!” Rogue waved a gloved hand in front of his face.
Kurt shook his head, his fur laying back down. “Huh?”
“You okay, man? You spaced out.” Evan raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah, just felt weird.”
“Weird?”
“Yeah. I don’t know how to explain it.” Kurt shrugged.
“Well, we should go.” Rogue walked off. “You lost, by the way.”
“Have fun with Kitty.” Evan followed Rogue out, laughing.
“Hey! No fair!” Kurt ran after them.

“‘Tro! Let’s go!” Lance shouted up the stairs.
“For the fastest man alive he’s slow.” Toad laughed.
“At least I care about how I look.” Pietro was at the top of the stairs.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Toad made a face at him.
“It means you look like you slept in those clothes. Ever hear of a hair brush?” Wanda passed the boys standing in the foyer.
“Hey!” The others laughed, following Wanda out the door. “I brushed my hair!” Toad hopped out the front door, pulling it closed behind him. He started walking down the steps when he froze. The hair on the back of his neck stood up, an involuntary growl emanating from his chest. The air around him hummed, he felt like lightning arched over him.
“-ey! Hey! Toad!” Lance shook his shoulders.
Toad jumped back, swatting Lance’s hands away. “What the fuck, man.”
“You completely spaced and started growling at us, Toad.” Pietro shouted from the jeep.
Toad flipped him off, ducking around Lance to get into the jeep.
“You okay?” Fred asked as he took his spot between him and Pietro.
“Yeah.”
“You sure?”
“Course, I’m sure.”
Fred looked skeptical but nodded.
“We’re gonna be late.” Wanda commented.
“Since when have we cared?” Lance raised an eyebrow at her. Wanda rolled her eyes.
