Chapter 17

August took a deep breath and looked around the bathroom. Its spacious. He felt a sense of relief knowing that he would have time to calm down.

He took his time to enjoy the warm water.

"I need to pull myself together. I've been so dependent on thesee literal superhero's. Oh fuck, I even pissed on Captain America!"

With this thought process with the water hitting his back, August's hands started a flame as his cheeks burned with embarrassment. The curtain sizzled and steamed almost catching fire, August yanked his hands away and made the flames go out.

"Fuck." He mutters. He quickly washes his hair and body, just trying to get out as quick as possible. When he exited the shower, a pile of clothes and a fluffy towel with a piece of paper on top. It all looked cozy. August grabs the towel and dries off a bit before grabbing the note and reads it.

Auggy,

Come to the living room when you're ready.

  -Tony (Daddy)

He can't help but smile. The last time he got little notes like this was when his mom was alive. She always got his clothes laid out for him and made sure he was warm and comfortable. Auggy sniffles at the memory. "Right. Better get dressed." He nods and gets into the briefs, iron man sleep pants, and Captain America t-shirt. He dries his hair, and brushed his teeth with the toothbrush from under the clothes pile.

He takes a deep breath and opens the door, peeking his head out first before turning the light off and shambling into the living room holding his arms in his chest.

Tony was sat next to Steve leaning into his side, watching a show together. Peter was still in bed. Steve looked up when his super hearing picked up August's light footsteps on the linoleum floor. August flinched at the sudden eyes on him and stepped back a bit.

"Hey, C'mere bud." Steve says, causing Tony to look and sit up straight. August meekly came fully into the room and looked at his feet while fumbling with the end of his shirt.

Tony's heart swelled with pride. His little boy looked absolutely adorable. His shirt and pants looked so big on him, Tony just wanted to swoop him up in his arms and coddle him to high heaven.

Steve offers a smile at August, who was bitting his lip with nerves. "C'mere. Have a seat champ." Steve says, patting the empty spot on his right side for August to sit. The boy was quick to scamper to the seat, looking up at the super soldier with beautiful green eyes.

"You gave us quite the scare this morning." Steve starts. August's face flushed red as he felt like he was about to cry. "I-I'm sorry sir." He starts with his eyes glued to the floor. "Hey, you're ok bug." Tony soothes getting up to sit on the other side of August. The boys scared eyes flickered up at the billionaire quickly before going to his own lap. "You're not in trouble. We just wanted to have a calm conversation with you, since you kinda woke up with a bit of a gap between now and when you were last big." Tony rationalizes and he ducks down to be at Augusts eye level. Augusts bottom lip trembled with anxiety a little before he clenched his jaw shut tight. "Y-Yeah." He stutters looking up at Tony then Steve. "So do you remember anything from Mr. Fury being in your old apartment?" Steve asks. August looks down and up again with a meek nod.

"How much?" Tony asks, beating Steve to the punch. "A-all of it." Auggy nervously gulps, dreading the response.

"Oh, good!" Tony says in a chipper tone.

"Wait, he's not mad?" August thinks with a look of surprise eminent on his face. "That means we don't have to try and recap anything." Tony gives a chuckle.

Steve puts a hand on Augusts shoulder, making his gaze shoot up at him. "You're the sweetest little boy." He says with a genuine grin as he makes eye contact.

August smiles at the praise. "Thank you." He managed to say without a stutter.

"Now do you know what snapped you out of headspace?" Steve asks looking to be more concerned.

August shrugs. "Woke up like that." The two caregivers share a look at Tony nods with an "I told you so" look on his face.

"Well how do you feel now?" Tony asks looking back at Auggy. He waves his hand sideways back and forth. "Sorta in the middle." He answers looking up at Tony. Steve pulls the small boy into his lap and holds him close. "Well maybe we can fix that." He says with a smile.
