Never-ending River of Time
Summary
Shisui had been reborn, he didn't remember how. He just did, and sadly the sunny days he experienced in this life will have to come to an end here.Staring at the blue screen in front of him, Shisui read the clear conditions of the first scenario.Announcing the emergence of a new world, a massacre began as the thick scent of blood filled his nose from the massacre happening on the first floor.God, what did he even do to deserve this?(In which I write a super niche crossover and wonder why nobody is reading it.)
Note
Warning: please read "An eye for a Heart" by Watersushi, I linked it in the inspired by part of the fanfic. Or else this fic will make zero sense with the amount of references Shisui makes at the events of the fanfic.I love how I made all the important characters Fanfic Writers, I mean look at the length some Ao3 writers are willing to go to post their next chapter and not say they won't survive the scenarios just to finish their fanfic.Kinda funny how I planned out most of the fourth scenario but have no clue what to write in the next chapter.Good news: I got into the super-selective school, I was applying for so yay!

River beyond the Hill III

Shisui was cautious while walking through the remnants of the earlier chaos, scanning for any possible threats.

The good news is that he reached the other side of the mall without any difficulties. Relieved to have made it unscathed he sighed.

It sure was a sight, to say the least. The first murder set off a domino effect with people realizing other people counted as organisms, themselves included; that can be killed for the clearing of this scenario.

The majority of people who went down that route chose blunt force trauma as the most convenient method of killing.

People scattered in all directions, looking for a place to hide, causing a lot of bickering and making a lot of noise that caught the attention of the exact same people they were trying to run from

This fighting was why Shisui decided to run into the middle like a moron in the first place, to not die from the stupidity of other people who can't control their own tempers.

The only sounds filling the deserted area were Shisui's footsteps echoing off the walls, accompanied by shouts of a fight. Rather than facing him directly, most people decided to ignore him because they thought he was too calm for such a situation, and therefore not worth killing. They then decided to focus their attention elsewhere, like the screaming people fighting for a soon-to-be ineffective hiding spot.

Now how should he complete the scenario? To pass, he could kill anything, not just humans. Like a plant or bug would be the eas- no killing a human would be the most foolproof way to pass this scenario.

With how fast bugs fly around, Shisui couldn't guarantee that he could kill them. His new life's slow reflexes and new limitations were not helping in this case. With how clean this mall is, the only bugs here would likely be flies and the thing with plants is that he can’t tell if they’re dead or not, so it’s not a guaranteed kill for him unless he burns them with a lighter; an unusual item for a high schooler to possess.

To have the highest chance of passing this scenario, he must kill somebody. The more logical part of his mind accepts that as their chance to survive this, but his more emotional side doesn’t want to. His conscience tells him to run away, hide until the scenario is over, and hide until he inevitably dies.

But he can’t die, well not so young. In this life, he hopes to survive up to his thirties, which corresponds to the expectations he had in his previous life.

(That along with his dream of marrying Kama both went down the drain when he died.)

Killing someone is the only way he can pass the scenario, and only 12 minutes are left.

In all honesty, he's oddly calm about this whole killing business

It feels weird,  his body is functioning on auto-pilot, ignoring any and all suggestions from his brain.

Well, moral dilemma aside, cracking the victim's head would be the easiest way to kill; the real question was how to at the very least deaden the pain. He could do that much as an apology for taking their lives.

Is there anything he could use as a weapon? Shisui thought as he ran away from someone who appeared to be going after him. Trying to find a heavy object he could use to hit someone on the head with, Shisui scanned the entire food court area. Despite being heavy, this object should not be difficult for him to carry. Which eliminated the majority of the objects present in the food court.

He just realized he’s an idiot, isn’t he? Couldn’t he technically just walk into the kitchen and look for something to do there? There’s likely fire to boil the plant and a knife if he has to kill someone. As a last resort, he has some pots he can use to hurt someone if the situation warrants it.

A problem was the crowded kitchens, used as hiding spots by people scared of the scenarios and demon thingy. To proceed with the scenario, he can kill one of the little potted plants used as decoration.

Rhetorical question, can he technically just stroll inside a kitchen, get a pot, fill it with water, turn the stove to max heat, and boil the plant?

Jokes aside, he can’t do what he just mentioned above. There is no way that the people won’t kill him while he’s just standing around making his vegetable soup. It would be a sight to see, though, a teenager making some boiled plant soup to pass a deadly game of the gods.

( It could be aliens, but Shisui decided to go with gods instead. Gods sound more serious, while aliens just make it sound like this belongs in some sci-fi movie in the 90s that was made with some very funny CGI.)

Out of the corner of his eye, he can see a weapon lying right out of his field of vision; a metal water bottle.

Mustering up any and all confidence he had, he ran towards the water bottle. Desperate to get a suitable weapon without being killed.

Running between the violent scuffles and chairs that littered the food court, he’d finally reached it; a metal water bottle. His weapon of choice for this scenario.

Shisui still doesn’t really know why he’s so detached from this entire situation where he is forced to murder somebody. However, anything goes in the apocalypse.

His current agenda, walking to some random person who is hopefully evil, and bonk them on the head super hard. Hopefully, pass the scenario in the process or whatever this video game is supposed to be.

He can see him, his chosen victim, a middle-aged man, sitting alone pressed up against a wall. Bad move. If somebody cornered him, where would he run?

"Quick, do it" was the only thought Shisui had, hiding out of sight between multiple objects. Hoping that his slightly clumsy footwork wouldn't alert his victim of his malicious presence.

Upon approaching the person, the man fought back; it was no surprise they were fighting for their lives. Maybe if the other person was lucky, maybe he could kill Shisui and pass the scenario.

Sadly, Shisui was determined to survive, no matter what happened to him.

7:04

The blue screen timer said, smashing a vase he picked up into the man’s shin, the man collapsed. Eyes full of fear at his fate, closing them to prepare for the worst.

Be quick, a reminder to not extend the pain any longer than he has to. Shisui plans out his killing move.

Smashing the water bottle down, he can clearly see the person’s skull dented in. A few trickles of blood dripped down from the crater he had created. He can see it all. The confusion, his attempt to massage the pain away in horror as he realized how deformed his skull was. The slow glazing of his eyes, all before he slumped to the side-dead.

3:47

He did it; he killed somebody. He hopes this is enough to pass this scenario.

(He will remember and pay for this. His past self had been doing this ever since he was as young as five. This one had not. Getting used to the trauma will be an entire punishment on its own.)

You have killed a living thing.

He did it, he passed the requirements of this scenario. He was sure of it, or else why would it alert him of his action?

(Hoping that he wouldn't die he stood there, praying for luck and a change in his fate.)

300 coins have been earned as additional compensation.

Standing still, watching the timer tick down to zero.

The given time has run out.

He watched as the heads of people around him exploded, covering the surrounding area in gore and bits of organs.

The paid settlement will begin.

Flashing before his eyes, small blue screens sent him little messages.  It was not comforting, but at least there was another system to send more miscellaneous messages.

You have killed 1 living thing.

Kill History

One human

Kill History, this is a game then. Were the hosts concerned about the killer losing track of how many living beings he has killed? That's rather concerning if he does say so himself.

Shisui was still trying to gather as much information as he can about this bloody system. Looking around him, Shisui realizes that other than himself, there were six survivors out of the roughly hundred stuffed into this food court. Not comforting numbers, but if this was only the first scenario Shisui can only imagine how much worse the future scenarios would get.

Main Scenario #1 – Proof of Value has ended.

300 coins have been acquired as a basic clearance reward.

100 coins have been reduced for the channel usage fee.

Additional compensation settlement will begin.

The event that caused the greatest number of fatalities in all of human history came to a close.
