Hour Zero

Steve Rogers

"There's an Omega house on Nordstrand Avenue, can someone go check it out?" Nick Fury, the Head of their Operations said into the Comm. Sam went straight to the radio and started talking, for which Steve seemed grateful. "Car 22 to headquarters, we'll take it over," he said and got the go from Fury, whereupon they took the direction with their navigation operator built into the car.

You see, Steve and Sam were both part of the New York Police Department, with a specialty in Designation Operations. In a world where Omegas didn’t have any rights while Alphas had every Right you could think of, there were Houses that homed Omegas to sell to Alphas. Betas, such as Sam, didn’t have many Privileges either, but they were generally accepted in the public eye.

These Omega houses were the biggest piece of crap anyway. That’s what Steve always thought and always had thought since he had been small. He had watched his Omega Friends being taken by the law once they had presented, leaving small Alpha Steve alone. It made him angry, how the Law seemed to discriminate and keep Omegas as theirs until they were of Age, ready to be sold. Steve had been preparing to be taken with them, always having been on the smaller side, making him the “perfect” Omega. And then he had presented an Alpha and started gaining Muscle and Height, which he hadn’t expected and neither had his Mother. She had cried tears of joy and relief when it came to his presentation.

Just because someone was "lower" in designation did not mean they were an object. Unfortunately, Knothead Alphas took advantage of the fact that they could easily get Omegas there. It was more than disgusting. Sure, it was now more ethical than before when _everything_ was allowed, but Steve, Sam  and the other police had missed a lot of things that they shouldn't have missed.

"Do you think they're clean?" Steve used his words for the first time since they had entered the car, asking Sam interestedly, who only shrugged his shoulders slightly. Sam had been his partner in crime for about 2 years, literally. They got along best in the field, had come out of the police academy at the same time and not only that, they had been stationed at the same location. Both had been inseparable since the beginning of police school.

Luckily, Nordstrand Avenue wasn't far away and the two police men parked on one of the side streets, then walked unerringly into the Omega House on the street. "NYPD, we're doing a strip search," Steve said with a trained cold voice to the alpha at the front desk, who nodded a little nervously (or at least it seemed that way) and invited Sam and him inside.

The conditions in which the Omegas were kept were never perfect, but it seemed to be at least a little more humane in this house. None of them were in cages that were too tight, although they were all on display in some way, but at least they had one thing: clothes, which was a rarity to see in this time of age. Glass doors separated them from the Omegas, who lived in fully equipped rooms and actually looked somewhat happy. That was unusual and made both Men a little suspicious, because that was really the ultimate in humanity and that was unusual.

There was something fishy in this whole setup.

As they were just walking through the halls of the house, looking at everything closely, there was a loud bang coming from downstairs. Immediately, Steve turned to one of the employees and raised my eyebrows. "What was that?" he asked him in an urgent voice that left no room for jokes or other ways of ridiculing.

“Oh, That was Probably just another shelf collapsing downstairs. The floor is a bit uneven and when you take things off the shelf, it sometimes loses its balance," the employee stated, which was an obvious lie to Steve seeing as he could see the others hands getting sweaty and shaky from nervousness.

“I’d like to see downstairs then, Please. My Partner would too.” Steve said with a cold voice, watching as Sam nodded and started calling backup quietly.

"Of course, no problem at all," he replied, trying to appear as relaxed as possible, which he failed in pretty miserably. With the two cops at his heels, he led them into the basement and showed them the three smaller rooms. One was the cold room for food, the other two were storage rooms. "Here you go. If everything is okay," he said calmly and even smiled at the two men in front of him.

In the last storage room Steve started walking over the walls with his fingers, a skill he ahd learnt in police school and felt something strange at one spot in the wall. A small breeze came from a narrow crack. "Sam," he said urgently, shining his flashlight on it and sure enough, there was a notch there.

Continuing his search, he found a small lever to operate something. Probably a door. Looking briefly at Sam, he then nodded and immediately pushed the employee to the ground, handcuffed him and held him tight to ground, hearing swears coming from said person's mouth. Meanwhile Steve opened the door and raised his gun up in a defensive way.

"Hands up!" He called into the room, which was only lit by a small light, nearly as bright as a small nightlight and in which they saw a horrifying sight: several abused Omegas in cages and 2 to 3 Alphas who were probably "taking care" of them.

It made Steve’s blood boil with Rage.

It all happened way too fast. There was crying from the Omegas who were not only abused, but also traumatized and scared. The called Backup had arrived already and were storming and escorting the scared Omegas or securing the Alphas with handcuffs.

Two Alphas had tried to attack Steve and Sam, who had caught up to him at that point but they both had gotten immobilized by two gunshots into their thighs, making it harder for them to walk. As soon as all Alphas had been secured and lined up with handcuffs, Steve had started opening the rest of the Omega’s cages and called into headquarters so they could send ambulances for medical help and some warmth blankets.

Closely after, Steve had two Omegas standing in front of him who seemed to need something from him.

“Don't leave him here! No! You can't just take us and leave him! Please! Find Star, please!” The male Omega begged him, closely followed by the female one also pleading with him to find this “Star”.

“Can you show me where he is?” Steve asked, looking down at the two.. Kids. They couldn’t be older than 16, if not younger. It made Steve not only angry, but also sick at how young these two were and what might have happened to them already at such a young age.

The female Omega nodded, leading a way to a door. “"He's in there. They almost always kept him there, we don't know why. Please get him out, please! He needs help, please help him sir, please." She said, still begging. Steve nodded and tried opening the door.

Locked.

Those bastards.

He quickly fumbled into his police bag attached to his hip belt, pulling out a Bobby Pin. He cared about his hair and they were practical, okay? Skilled, he opened the locked door with the pin, glad that it had worked. Sure, he would’ve been able to bust it in with brute force but he didn’t want to scare anyone on the other side.

Opening the door, the sight presented to him made him angry, sick and ultimately broke his heart into shambles.

It was an Omega in a much too small Cage who looked like he hadn’t eaten something in 5 weeks and also hadn’t showered that long with blood all over him and multiple wounds that looked like they needed someone to look after them immediately.

Jesus Christ.
