what just fucking happened

The rooftop felt smaller now, the vast cityscape around them reduced to a backdrop as Wolverine and Deadpool stood in their moment of unexpected intimacy. The rain was relentless, but neither of them seemed to notice. Logan’s usual gruff exterior softened as he held Wade close, their foreheads still touching, the steady rhythm of the downpour mingling with the unspoken words between them.

“Logan…” Deadpool’s voice was quieter than usual, almost hesitant, a side of him that few had ever seen. “You ever think about… you know, just stopping? Letting go of all the madness, the fighting, and… just being?”

Logan’s eyes narrowed slightly as he considered the question. It wasn’t something he was used to, this talk of peace and quiet. His life had always been defined by conflict, a never-ending series of battles both within and without. But as he looked at Wade, at the man who had somehow wormed his way into the darkest corners of his heart, he couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to stop fighting for a while.

“I’ve thought about it,” Logan admitted, his voice rough. “But the world doesn’t let guys like us rest easy, Wade. There’s always something, someone needing saving, or some asshole needing a beating.”

Wade chuckled softly, his hand still warm in Logan’s grasp. “Yeah, you’re probably right. But… maybe we don’t have to do it alone anymore. Maybe we can take on the world together. You and me, a couple of badasses against the odds.”

Logan shook his head, a small smile tugging at his lips despite himself. “You really think we can make it work? Us?”

“Why not?” Wade replied, his tone light but sincere. “We’re both too stubborn to quit, and let’s be honest, we’re kind of perfect for each other. You’re the grumpy one, I’m the charming one, it’s a match made in comic book heaven.”

Logan couldn’t help but chuckle at that. “You’re a pain in the ass, you know that?”

“Yeah, but I’m your pain in the ass,” Wade quipped, squeezing Logan’s hand before letting it go. He took a step back, his usual swagger returning as he grinned beneath his mask. “So, what do you say, Wolvie? Ready to give this a shot? Us, I mean.”

Logan stared at Wade for a long moment, the weight of the decision hanging between them. He had always been a lone wolf, someone who kept his distance to protect himself and those around him. But Wade… Wade was different. He was relentless, persistent, and somehow, he had broken through all of Logan’s defenses without even trying.

“Yeah,” Logan finally said, his voice steady. “Yeah, let’s give it a shot.”

Wade’s eyes lit up, and without warning, he lunged forward, wrapping Logan in a tight embrace. Logan grunted, but didn’t push him away, instead allowing himself to relax into the hold, his arms coming up to return the hug. It was awkward and a little wet, but it was real.

“You won’t regret it, Logan,” Wade murmured into his shoulder, the sincerity in his voice unmistakable.

“Better not,” Logan replied, though his tone lacked the usual gruffness. There was something else there—hope, maybe, or something dangerously close to it.

They pulled back slightly, and Wade, ever the unpredictable one, reached up to tug his mask off. The scarred, familiar face beneath was grinning ear to ear, eyes bright despite everything he’d been through. Logan didn’t flinch, didn’t pull away. He’d seen Wade without the mask before, but this time, it felt different. This time, it felt like seeing the real Wade Wilson, the man behind the jokes and the madness.

Wade’s grin softened as he searched Logan’s face, his own features uncharacteristically serious. “You okay with this? With me?”

Logan reached up, his calloused hand cupping Wade’s cheek. “Yeah, I’m okay with you, Wade. Always have been.”

Wade’s smile returned, softer, more genuine than Logan had ever seen it. “Good. Because I’m not letting you go now. Not after all the effort I put into getting you to like me.”

“Who says I like you?” Logan shot back, but there was no heat in his words, just a warmth that had been growing steadily since they’d first met.

Wade laughed, the sound echoing in the night air. “You can’t fool me, Wolvie. I know you do.”

Logan rolled his eyes but couldn’t suppress the smile tugging at his lips. “Yeah, yeah. Just don’t make me regret this, Wilson.”

“Never,” Wade promised, leaning in closer until their lips were almost touching. “Scout’s honor.”

Logan snorted at that, but before he could respond, Wade closed the distance, capturing his lips in a kiss that was surprisingly tender, considering who it was coming from. Logan stiffened at first, his instincts screaming at him to pull back, to protect himself, but then Wade’s hand slid around the back of his neck, and all those instincts melted away.

The kiss deepened, the world around them fading until there was nothing but the rain, the rooftop, and the feeling of being with someone who finally understood them. It was messy and imperfect, but it was them.
