The Death of a Pest

FREEZE POINT NEW YORK

Ruined New York, a snowy wasteland, a place where only the desperate and deprived can live. Ever since DoomsDay, the greatest war for man blocked out the greatest gift the universe gave us, the sun. Corpses preserved in the cold embrace of the snow, unrotten, untouched. The city is silent, only the whistling of wind speaks now. At least until the sound of crunching snow is heard. A person walks through the snow, they wear a white tundra jacket with matching fur poking out from the hood. Along with that the person wears giant white puffy snow pants. The person stops at the body trapped in the snow. The corpse's bright blue eyes stare into the soul of the Wanderer, with skin as fragile as glass starts to crack as the person closes the eyelids of the dead.

Wanderer: I'm sorry you couldn't have been saved....

As the Wanderer apologizes he starts to cover the body in snow, after that he prays over them before continuing their walk. A gust of wind hits the street of snow and it opens the Wanderer's jacket showing the Spider-Man suit.

HOME

After a few hours the Wanderer walks into an apartment. They are greeted with the light and a hug of warmth from the fireplace. An older man is feeding the flames some old items.

Richie Trueman: Ahhh, I see you finally returned, little spider!

The man gets up to pat the Wanderer on the back. The Wanderer takes off the hood, along with the mask of the spider.

Terry Brown: I told you I'm not a spider.

Richie Trueman: Psh, keep telling yourself that kid. You know back when I was still the Scorpion me and the spider tussled quite a few times.

Terry Brown: Yeah I heard....

Richie Trueman: What's wrong little guy, scared I'll knock you out.

Richie gives Terry a playful jab on his shoulder.

Richie Trueman: Now what goods you got?

Terry Brown: Nothing, the city seems like it's finally reached it's end.

Richie, despite hearing the news, still shakes it off and smiles.

Richie Trueman: Well that's alright.

Terry Brown: We haven't eaten in a week, how is that ok?

Richie Trueman: Now little Spider you have to take the good with the bad.

Terry Brown: I'm not following....

Richie Trueman: We might not have food today, but we have a fire and a shelter.

Terry stares at Richie with an emotionless expression.

Terry Brown: That made me want to kill myself.....

Richie Trueman: Oh come on you're Spider-Man now, start thinking brighter.

Terry Brown: But I'm not....

Richie Trueman: Not with that attitude, and hey anyone can wear the mask.

Terry Brown: Yeah sure man....

Richie Trueman: I mean it, that's like his whole thing.

Terry Brown: It was at one point maybe, but times have changed. The only reason I have this suit is because I took it off of his corpse. I never want to see something like that ever again, I am no Spider-Man. I only have this suit for warmth, nothing more.

Terry turns his back to Richie and walks away to the corner of the room before laying down. He grabs a thin old dusty blanket and covers himself with hopes to sleep tonight. Richie looks at him with a concerned look.

HOME-NIGHTFALL

Terry is shaken awake by Richie, but before he can say anything Richie covers Terry's mouth before hushing.

  Richie Trueman: Shhhh.

Terry looks around in confusion, but then he hears voices coming from outside.

Man: It's finally hunting time!

Man 2: Shut up, you might scare away the prey!

Man: No one tells me what to do!

Terry and Richie slowly walk over to the window, rubbing away the frost they see them men talking. They are wearing white animal fur, along with long spears.

Man: No one and I mean no one can tell me what to do!

A spear flies through the man's skull. The snow under them is stained with red. The second man stands completely still, as if a single movement will kill him.  Terry stands covering his mouth when the man's head is busted open. His eyes unable to look away, unable to close, he is stuck staring at the man. The snow rises as a bigger man escapes to the surface.

Richie Trueman: The colossal hunter....

The 6ft 5inch monster walks over to the other man.

Man 2: B-boss....I mean Kraven!

Kraven the hunter: Shhhh, do you hear that?

The man shakes his head.

Kraven the hunter: It's the sound of a prey-

Kraven slams his hand into the chest of his goon. Lifting him up with a single hand.

Kraven the hunter: being hunted by the predator.

He slams the goon into the snow leaving him dead in the cold. Terry exhales, and everything goes silent, Kraven stops in his tracks and looks up at the window the two are looking through.

Kraven the hunter: Oh the prey. I found you.

Richie pulls Terry back from the window.

Richie Trueman: Run kid!

Terry Brown: What.

The whole wall comes down as Kraven stands where it once was.

Richie Trueman: Damn it kid, get out of here!

Kraven's eyes focus on Terry.

Kraven the hunter: A spider?

Richie Trueman takes off his coat to reveal his scorpion suit.

Richie Trueman: Kraven!

Richie swings his tail at Kraven, but it is caught.

Kraven the hunter: Scorpion.

Kraven swings Scorpion out of the building. Richie lands on the snow, he starts to burrow his way into the snow as if it were sand. Kraven lands on the snow as well.

Kraven the hunter: Oh, the hunt is coming back Scorpion. After I kill you I'll set the Spider's head right next to yours on my wall.

Kraven spots the snow moving and right when Scorpion jumps out, Kraven grabs him by the neck.

Kraven the hunter: I got you.

A brick hits Kraven's head. He turns to see Terry looking down at him.

Kraven the hunter: Spider!

Richie Trueman: KID NO!

Terry jumps down to face Kraven.

Terry Brown: Look we don't have to do this, put him down.

Kraven the hunter: If you say so, Spider.

Kraven's grip crunches Richie's neck, snapping it before dropping him down into the snow.

Terry Brown: NO!!

Kraven the hunter: Give me a good hunt kid.

Terry Brown: I'll kill you!

Terry runs at the hunter, but he is stopped. Kraven gut punches the Spider sending him backwards. Terry tries to get up off of the ground, but he can't. His body is slowly shutting down on him, he hasn't eaten in a while and the force of the blow is enough to put him down. Terry turns over on his stomach and tries to crawl away, but Kraven stops on his leg holding him down.

Terry Brown: AHHH!

Terry groans in pain as Kraven looks down in disappointment. Kraven pulls a vile of something out of his pocket.

Kraven the hunter: I haven't had a good hunt in a long time kid. The Spider was the only one to give me a challenge. I'll make you a Spider so I can hunt once more.

He stabs the vile full of a black liquid into Terry's neck. Terry screams in pain, but after the vile runs empty, Kraven walks away disappearing in the fog of the snow. Terry soon passes out.
