Call to a Pirate
"Oh for fucks sake, he's not picking up" Sam groaned, as he glared at his phone.
The kitchen he was in wasn't the largest in the tower, however it certainly had enough space to walk around in circles. Which was exactly what Sam had been doing for for the past five minutes as he repeatedly tried to contact Fury.
"Who the pirate?"
Bucky asked as he walked in. The question sounded muffled with the mans mouth half full of food. Had it been anyone else they'd have confused it as a different language altogether.
Bucky stood there for a second, spinning the chocolate bar in his hands.
"Wha- yeah Fury, he won't pick up" Sam repeated, stopping his pacing for a moment.
"Yeah you literally just said that?"
“Oh fuck off” Sam bit back with an aggravated glare as Bucky turned around.
”Fury’s gonna hate you for spamming him like that” Bucky observed, walking towards the cabinets and grabbing the closest cereal box before his eyes widened.
”Ugh, I feel so useless, even Fury won’t answer- Hey, I’m trauma dumping on you and you’re just ignoring me and making cereal!” Sam whined, as he put the phone down, turned around and placed himself next to Bucky.
”It's like 10pm man and since when do you eat this shit” Sam asked picking up the box and staring into Bucky’s eyes suspiciously and playfully.
”I don’t! The kid does though” Bucky replied, as he eyed his bowl “He’s been begging me to try this instead of the ‘plain shit’ I normally eat, so I might as well.” He had quoted the plain shit mimicking Peter’s voice.
“Any good?”
”Hell no. It's horrible and the amount of sugar in it? Don’t know how the kid hasn’t had a stroke yet” He looked up before his eyes lit up and turned mischievous "At least I can stop being grouped with you 'ancient' folk, as Peter called us. All for not trying some cereal"
"Hey! You're like a century older than me!" Sam glared at him before he reached for the bowl saying "Let me try"
Bucky practically growled as he yanked his cereal away, Sam raised an eyebrow.
"Hm, interesting how protective you are over this disgusting, too sweet, horrible cereal"
Bucky glared at him as he moved over to the other side of the table, he lifted up his metal arm and pointed a finger towards the cabinets, he did so while swirling the cereal around the bowl with his spoon.
"Honestly if you're that desperate either make your own bowl, or just try your own cereal. Yours is basically just as bad, might even rival the kids"
"Bucky shut up- and leave my cereal out of this" Sam said, crossing his arms.
"Of course, I'll be sure to visit you both in hospital from the extreme sugar intake from those things" Bucky replied, lifting up his spoon and taking another bite.
"Bucky!"
MJ was sat at the dining table, long finished her food and waiting to be excused.
The room was lit softly, and the atmosphere was light. However, she felt awkward as ever in the presence of the guests.
Her mom had her family over, it wasn't even unusual as of recently. Her mom's brother moved back to NYC a couple weeks ago and has been hanging around more often than not with his own family at her house.
It didn't bother Michelle all that much, especially since she spent most of her time in the library or in her bedroom anyways, however it did make leaving dinner more difficult.
"Michelle dear, pass the sauce over would you?" Her aunt requested, not bothering to make eye-contact.
And awkward.
Michelle rolled her eyes and held her fork in her hand as she carelessly used it to draw patterns on her plate with the remaining sauce.
"Oh yes, did you hear the news..." Her uncle asked her mum as they started yet another discussion.
She swirled the fork around, making a small spider web in the centre of her plate.
"Michelle" Her mum said, pulling MJ out from her thoughts. The girl lifted her head up to see what she wanted "Is that not your phone ringing?"
She listened in for a second before hearing it.
She nodded as she stood up, wincing slightly after realising she pulled at some of the table cloth.
"Oh yeah, thanks for the food" MJ answered in a rush. Remembering to say thank you to her mum before leaving.
She didn't bother putting the plate away and left it where it was. She got up and walked towards the stairs.
Her room made it into her view, and she immediately walked over to her bed and grabbed for the phone.
She made it just in time to answer the phone and Neds voice echoed in her room in urgency "MJ"
"Hi Loser, what do you want?" She greeted while scanning his face.
She noticed a glimpse of fear and nervousness that made her brows furrow.
"It's Peter!" He answered and immediately Michelle's stomache turned.
"What do you mean" She questioned, her voice more worried than Ned had ever heard.
"He's missing, Mr Stark called me 10 minutes ago and told me to inform him if Peter showed up and that stuff- apparently he became MIA at a Hydra mission"
That made her blood turn cold "Hydra? As in the brainwashing Nazi people?" She asked, already knowing the answer.
"Y-yeah" Ned answered, his lip was shaking slightly "MJ I'm really worried, what if-"
"No shut up. Don't do that, he's okay, just don't think about that stuff yet alright?" She reassured him slightly. it's sort of hypocritical, she thought, seeing as this is exactly what she'll be doing the minute he hangs up.
"Meet me tomorrow okay? We will talk more about this then- then well think of something" MJ told him before hanging up.
She looked around her room, from posters, to photos, her eyes slightly wet- the tears of worry threatening to spill out.
Never had she wished more for an empty house than now.
"You decided to call finally call back?" Tony said with a false smile at Fury.
Everyone was in the meeting room once again.
There was a lot of tension in the room, some directed at Fury, while some at the others in the room.
Tony, Clint and Rhodey hadn't spent too long on their searching, only about two hours. However they all agreed that there probably wasn't anything useful in the boxes and files after all. The closest thing they found to fit the category of "good and useful information" was that Hydra had started planning a small attack on New York in 8 months- they later realised that those plans were cancelled.
Natasha was frustrated, not only had one of the two hostages managed to sneak in a cyanide pill and kill themself but the other guy was also utterly useless, with zero information to hand over. Natasha's methods had worked well enough, it was the fact that the guy wasn't trusted enough by Hydra. The only thing Natasha left with -that wasn't disappointment- was the flicker of amusement she got when she managed to get the agents cocky and calm personality to crack.
Natasha left that room soon after, the anger evident.
Steve felt slightly bad for the guards as she stopped out and glared at them all for not properly checking the hostages for things like the pills. Steve had attempted to calm her down, telling her to maybe take a rest, but he got pushed into the wall as Natasha walked away. That was extremely out of character for someone like her, the blatant show of emotion.
He had stared at the place she stood for minutes after that, still shocked.
Wanda and Vision were up in the meeting room too, however Wanda wouldn't look anyone in the eye, apart from Vision. She had sat herself down besides Natasha. The young woman had red rimmed eyes, and her hair was a mess, even more so than the usual. She glared at the table in front of her, as though it had personally offended her.
"Well I apologise for being busy" Fury rolled his eyes, completely aware of the dangerous game he was playing. "I already heard about your mission- nothing found, useless files, only one missing teammate, and minimal injuries- however what I am curious about is your reason for contacting me at seven at night?"
Tony gawked at the screen that showed the face-time between them. The man dare mention Peter's disappearance so carelessly?
"Well I apologise for thinking it would be obvious that we need the help?" Tony mimicked back, Steve sighed in exasperation.
"I just said I was busy- and to be completely honest I still am." Furry practically growled in annoyance.
"Yeah? Well I just had to call two children to inform them that their friend is MIA- so don't go talking to me about 'busy' when a literal teenager is missing!"
"Well what do you want me to do? I've already got my agents searching other Hydra bases and some other people searching through old files. I can't do much more."
"Okay I'm definitely lost now" Tony said suddenly, the man turned around slowly, in a sort of frustrated but calm manor while staring at the others "You mean to tell me there is other Hydra bases and none of us are at them?" Tony snapped.
Steve saw the two of them and -key word: tried- to intervene "Tony I think that's enough for now-"
"No, I want to hear what the bald man has to say about-"
"Tony for fucks sake- come on we are going to talk" Steve said, his voice loud. Some people stared at them, as Tony begrudgingly left the room, Steve turned around once more.
"Well I apologise, you guys can carry on we'll be back in ten minutes"
"I'm wondering since I'm more spider than human, will I die from starvation sooner cause of the increased metabolism, or later from the increased durability?"
Peter asked the camera, facing it at the wall.
He was still walking through the same corridor, however it had become incredibly noticeable that his pace was much slower. Peter's started to think his first guess was more correct and likely, than not.
"It's been seven hours already. I've been walking for Seven Fucking Hours" Peter repeated in horror, as he looked at the amount of time he's been recording for. "And it looks as though I'm nowhere near closer to my goal!"
He groaned in frustration. Had this been anywhere else he would have punched something, however given the situation, giving up and setting himself down on the ground was the option he went for. Again he had done this slowly as he tried to avoid hitting the pole.
"Ugh I might die from dehydration sooner than starvation" He whispered as he noticed how dry his mouth felt.
Peter rested his head against the wall for a minute and closed his eyes.
His hands found his way around the camera and pressed the off button, hoping to save at least some battery thought the ten minute break he was going to have.
"I'm just gonna sit like this for a minute" He mumbled. "I'll get up in a minute..." He was already asleep, not even a minute later.
"Ugh Tony, can you not control yourself for one conversation? We were meant to be trying to negotiate" Steve scolded.
Tony rolled his eyes and leaned against the wall, his head now resting against the cool metal wall.
"Negotiate 'bout what? Them helping us find a teenager, that should have been a given" Tony answered snarkily "And I was planning to- Until the pirate decided to tell me that he had locations and that he wasn't feeling like sharing"
"Us Tony, not just you. He said it to all of us and everyone apart from you managed to keep their cool" Steve glared.
As Steve said that a comically loud crash could be heard from the meeting room.
His eyes widened and Tony smirked once more "Well it might be best to check that out Cap"
He walked towards the door and grabbed the handle, seconds before the door blew open.
A startled yell escaped his throat as he got pushed to the wall. Wanda Maximoff walked through and stomped away to the stairs.
"Well that must've went great, huh Cap?"
Peter groans, lifting up his head slightly, he must've fallen asleep.
He looked around slightly, and closer his eyes at the pounding in his head, and ache in his back and neck- Oh how he missed his bed.
"How long was I out for..." Peter mumbled, trying to wake himself up fully.
He turned to the camera, mainly to regain the feeling off talking to someone. However when he looked at it his eyes widened and he shuddered.
"Shit! The camera was on this whole time?! Fuck, I'm trying to preserve the battery not do the fucking opposite-"
His eyes looked confused for a moment, clearly remembering himself turning it off.
Suddenly his stomach grumbled and he became very awake very quickly.
"Ouch- that actually hurt" he looked down at his stomach, mainly at the metal pipe.
The pipe was oddly enough really close to his belly button, in his stupid morning brain -or was it afternoon? Or evening- it was wierd.
"Huh.." Peter observed "May always said she wanted a belly button piercing, I'm like honoring her wishes" Peter smirked a little at his horrible attempt at humour, before he realised what he said and his lips tightnened into a firm line.
"I'm blaming this on me just waking up" he informed the camera, before getting up with the help of the wall.
"It's been two hours since I fell asleep and I'm extremely hungry" Peter grumbled as he finally stood up "When I get out I'm going to remind Bucky about that pizza he owes me from when I bet him in an arm wrestle"
He smiled at the memory. Part of the agreement was that if Peter won, Bucky would buy him a pizza from this one place in Queens, admit that the pizza in Queens was better than the pizza in Brooklyn, and then he let Peter put magnets on his arm.
"The magnets suited him, I can't believe he wore them like that for a week. He only took them off because of the mission we had"
Peter walked on, through the passage, silently hoping he didn't accidentally turn around in his sleep and was now walking back the way.
That would kill him off.
The walls seemed to narrow is some places, and then expand into spacious corridors in others. Surprisingly, it kept Peter pretty sane, it showed him that he hadn't went past certain bits yet and that gave him some hope.
"Ugh I'm too impatient for this-" he started mumbling again before spotting something on Walla around the corner.
"No way- BERRIES." he gasped, a laugh bubbling out from his throat.
He practically ran towards that wall and reached his hand towards them, they were a light purple colour and they looked juicy and edible.
His hand was just about to grab them before he remembered Bruce again. Peter hesitated and looked at the camera with regret on his face for a single second before it turned back into and expression of hunger once more.
"Oh fuck me, I'm dying, Mr. Stark can lecture me later"
He ate a handful not caring much about the consequences. He stops for a second to actually taste the food.
"This shit is gross" He says, Peter's face scrunched up and he made a gagging sound.
Eyeing the rest of the berries, Peter debates whether he should risk eating another one.
"God's I'm so sorry Bruce, I hope you never watch this" he said and grabbed another handful.
"Gross, but it's nice to finally eat"
He turned back around to get another glimpse of the corridor and decided to slowly rip of a sleeve from his suit- it didn't take much effort to actually rip it, but as he was trying not to hurt himself while doing so was quite a struggle.
He folded it carefully- or as carefully as he can while holding the camera with his other hand.
Peter dumped as many berries as he could into the makeshift bag and turned his body around.
"I think I should go now- I'm wasting time and I still need to find a source of water" he winced slightly at that, his face turning green "Gross, never thought I'd be in this sort of situation"
"Oh well- I won't end up doing anything else here and I'm wasting time, so let's go!" Peter exclaimed walking farther away from the berries.
"...lets hopefully find water this time..." You could hear his chatter, even as he walked on. The corridor was back to being narrow now, however it didn't stop an echo from appearing.
Peter soon disappeared behind a curved wall and the man finally deemed it safe to come out from behind their wall.
The smirk was evident on his face, however when he looked at the berries it faltered ever so slightly and the man shook his head.
He walked slightly towards the direction Peter had went, before he let go of the half full water bottle in his hand.
It dropped to the ground and the contact made the loose cap fall off. The water sloshed around before it all inevitably spilled out, already soaking into the once dry ground.
He picked up his pace and disappeared following after Peter.
The empty water bottle layed there, standing out in the dark and dry room. Similar to the foot print from hours ago.
