Some New Friends

Marinette pov-

My family was going to be pissed when they found out what had happened at school.

I had a feeling that my brothers and sisters were going to go on a homicidal rage when they found out who was behind it, and I had a feeling that I was not going to be able to stop them.

What had happened?

Well, my friends and I were in art class with some GA students, and Lila and Alya were in the class as well. That already spelled disaster. Anyway, the teacher, Mr. Barnes, had instructed us to make the decorations for the Winter dance for school, and everything was going perfectly fine until Lila had walked by me, who was on the floor painting the banner with Alix, Jake Williams, and Dante Martinez, two new friends of mine who hated my class with the exception of my friends, and Damian unfortunately didn't have the class with me, and she 'accidentally' tripped and ended up pouring the two buckets of silver, navy, and light blue paint all over me. The paint soaked my long hair, ruined my clothes, ruined my phone, and had ruined the banner that was close to being halfway done, and to make it look like an accident, she fell and got a little -little- bit of paint on herself as well.

Everything went to a sharp stop at that exact moment, and I couldn't handle being in the room with that snake any longer.

Lila stuttered out an apology that I knew she didn't mean, and I had ignored her and silently left the classroom with my stuff as my 3 friends were yelling at her and Alya, who had immediately involved herself. But, instead of going to the bathroom to try and clean up, I simply left the building and started walking to literally nowhere, wiping the paint off of my face the best I could.

God, I was so pissed right now, but there was nothing I could do at the moment. I wanted to press my bracelet to get Jason, but I was too upset to think straight enough to. My racing heart and overwhelming emotions should have been enough to make him start going after me already. I was already going to get in trouble for ditching school, and my family was going to be worried sick about me, and was going to be lectured all night long, but I didn't care. I just needed out of that school, away from Lila, away from Alya, and to just be alone. I didn't care about anything else, except getting the paint out of my hair.

I was walking down the street when I found myself entering the park, and I spotted the water park part of the beautiful space. Going over there, I was so focused on what I was going to do about getting all the paint out of my hair that I accidentally bumped into someone. I looked up to find Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Riddler all chatting and finishing up some ice cream.

They looked down at me, and gasped. "My God, what happened to ya, Sugar? How'd ya get that paint all over ya, huh?" Harley asked, and I wiped more of it away from my eyes. "Um, I was in class, and I got it poured on me. I was going over to the water thing over there to try and get it out of my hair, since I kinda walked out of school." I quietly said, looking down, and Ivy looked mad. "Who could do such a thing like that to such a sweet girl like you, Sweetheart? Come, Harls and I will help you clean up. Nygma, watch her belongings for us, will you?" she said, putting an arm around my shoulders and guiding me over to the rain head thing.

"What's your name, hon?" Harley asked, and I sneezed. "Marinette. You guys don't have to help me, I can figure this out on my own. I don't want to bother you with my problem." I said, but Ivy shook her head. "Nonsense, Marigold. Can I call you Marigold? I'm calling you Marigold now, and I am adopting you as my niece now. You are also under my protection, and Harley's as well-" "ME TOO!" Riddler shouted over to us, cutting her off, and Harley continued. "Sunlight, we can talk about this later. Right now, we need to get that paint out of your hair and face, Sugar. Come on, we'll help you get it all out, and then we can go kill who got it on you." She said, and for once, I didn't object to the threat on Lila's behalf.

So, Ivy and Harley spent a long time working to get the paint out of my hair, several hours (I know it doesnt take that long, but its only for the story and that they didn't have the stuff to get the paint out of her hair faster, and they couldn't go to a store because they aren't exactly welcome because of who the Sirens and Riddler are, so...) and when it got dark out, Edward came over with his phone to use as a flashlight so that my new Aunts could see what they were doing as they carefully rinsed and picked the paint from my hair, then carefully and gently got all of it off of my skin, while Uncle Eddie was careful not to shine the light in my eyes.

When the extremely long deed was finally done, I squeezed the water out of my hair and stretched all of my muscles, popped my neck, wrists, knuckles, fingers, hips, back, knees, ankles, and shoulders, then let out a tired yawn as my stomach growled rather loudly, making me flush with embarrassment.

Edward smiled. "Hungry, Nette?" he asked, and I nodded. "Yeah. I didn't get the chance to have lunch today because of what happened. But I can wait till I get home-" I began, but he snorted. "Nonsense. No niece of mine is going to wait to eat. I have a place that I like to eat at all the time, and I'm friends with the owner. Very nice woman, and she makes the best food in Gotham." he said, and Harley seemed pleased at the idea of food. "Well, even though it's a little late, I'm sure she wont mind feeding a few more for the night. Let's go! I'm starvin" she said, and I giggled as we all left the park, Riddler leading the way.

After dinner, which was amazingly good, I laughed as I put my leftovers in a couple of to-go boxes.

My hair was in a messy braid that Auntie Ivy had done on the way to the little restaurant and almost dry now, and I was wearing Auntie Harley's leather jacket that she had been wearing, and I planned on making one exactly like it so that I could have one, since this was the only one like it.

Harley's jacket- (I want it lol)

Over dinner, the 4 of us had told each other our stories, and when it had been my turn to share mine, they had been surprised to learn that I was a Wayne, but otherwise didn't mind. Selina had also dropped by, earning myself a person that I found myself thinking of as a mom figure, and was hanging out with us.

My bracelet had calmed down a long time ago, like, roughly 5 minutes after I had run into Ivy, Harley, and Edward, and I hadn't had any of my family show up yet, so maybe they had put it off as an accidental thing or something.

(Hahaha, just wait til she gets home! Overprotective family is going to KILL HER! LMAO)

(Not literally lol)

I carried my food and walked out of the restaurant after graciously thanking the kind woman for keeping her doors open this late for us, giving her a lot of praise and promising to donate a lot of money for her place when I got home later, and I was laughing at Harley and Riddler arguing over who was going to be the favorite, Ivy quickly joining in on the argument.

Selina laughed and wrapped an arm around my shoulders, rolling her eyes playfully. "I don't know how I can put up with them, sometimes." she said.

"HEY!" yelled the 3 behind us, and Selina and I burst out laughing at them. We spent the entire walk back to the Wayne manor gates talking and laughing. When we arrived at the gates, I turned and hugged all four of my new family members. "Thank you all for helping me with my hair. You didn't have to do that, nor spend money on me for dinner, but I really appreciate it. I don't know how I can ever pay you for helping me when you didn't have to." I said.

They smiled. "Marigold, there is no need to repay us. We WANTED to help you, darling, so we did." Ivy said, and Harley nodded her agreement. "What she said, Sunlight. And keep the jacket, Girlie. I have several others that I wear all the time. I almost never wear that one anyway." she said, noticing that I had started to take it off to return it to her. Surprised, I slowly put it back on, feeling my smile grow a bit brighter, and Nygma ruffled my hair. "Alright, Kiddo, you better get going before you catch a cold from your hair, since it's still damp. Being sick is the worst thing ever. However, I will request a group photo to cherish this moment, if that's okay with you ladies." He asked, and we smiled and agreed.

I smiled my brightest smile ever for the photo, a real, genuinely happy smile, and when Eddie had a few photos, Ivy wrote down their numbers for when I got another new phone to add in there.

With one last hug, I picked up my still warm food and used my very tiny size to easily slip through the gate, and I began the long trek back to the manor, skillfully avoiding all of the traps in the driveway and not setting off any of the alarms that Dad had shown me were there. Once I got to the front door, I was surprised to find it unlocked, but I opened the door and quietly slipped inside, shutting the door behind me and taking off my shoes at the door.

I didn't make it 2 steps when I heard Titus barking as he ran towards where I was, and a moment later, said Great Dane crashed into me at top speed, knocking me over and pinning me to the floor, covering my face with wet, slobbery kisses and laying completely on top of me. Thank kwami that my bag of food was still on the table by the door.

Shortly after Titus came, we were joined by Alfred the cat, who was sniffing every inch of me that he could while avoiding Titus's excitement. The feline was meowing frantically and smacking me in irritation, and after a few moments of him fussing at me, he curled into me and was purring into my neck. I giggled and laughed under Titus, petting him and Alfred as I was smothered in kisses and fur.

The excitement was cut a little short when many pairs of feet were heard running to the foyer, and a second later, I found myself staring at every member of the Wayne family, who were looking frantic and worried.

Titus got off of me, and before I could move to pick myself up off the ground, I was being scooped up into my dad's arms. Bruce hugged me tightly and didn't let go for a long time, checking me over for injuries and making sure I was okay. "MARINETTE LARAE CHENG-TODD-WAYNE!! Where the FUCK have you BEEN?!" a voice shouted, and I flinched as I was pulled out of Bruce's arms and into Jason's.

My favorite brother sat me down on the floor and was doing a wound check of his own, and I saw the raw fear and worry in his eyes as he thoroughly looked me over, and that his teal eyes were filled with tears as he pulled me into his lap and wrapped his arms around me tighter than Bruce had. "MJ, where have you been? You've been gone for HOURS, and your bracelet went off, and I couldn't find you ANYWHERE, and you weren't answering your phone or at school, and I-I thought you were dead somewhere or with Joker or kidnapped or-or worse, and I was worried sick about you. No one was able to find you, P-Pixie, and I-I-I thought I lost you again like last time. Where were you? Are you okay? No one hurt you or tried to go after you, right?" he rambled into my hair, breathing quickly and shallowly, hugging me tighter, his heart racing.

I forgot about everyone in the room as I realized that he was having a panic attack, and I gently pulled away from him. "Jason, look at me. I'm here, okay? I'm alive, and I'm okay. Look, see? I'm okay, JayJay. Breathe. In. Out. Breathe with me, Papa. In...out. There you go." I said, bringing both of his hands up to my face and feeling him press his hands into my skin in reassurance that I was there in his arms and okay. After a few moments, Jay was calm again, and I casually slid back into his lap and put his arms back around me, then leaned into him and faced my family, friends, and Roy and Wally and Jon as well. My niece escaped Dick and Wally and came over and settled in my lap, and I hugged her as she cuddled into me.

Dick frowned at me. "Sunflower, where have you been? You keep stalling the answer." he said seriously, and I looked up at him, then retreated my gaze to the floor. "Lila..." I quietly murmured, not wanting to answer. My family frowned. "What was that?" Tim asked, and I pressed into Jason. "Lila," I reluctantly said louder, and I saw Tim, Dick, Cass, and Steph stiffen at my response. "Lila has my art class. I was working on a banner with a couple of other kids, and she... she poured a few buckets full of paint on me in class. She didn't get in trouble because she staged it to look like she tripped, and she ruined my phone, the banner I was working on, and she soaked my hair and clothes in light blue, navy, and silver paint. Um... I also got yelled at by Alya, who said some mean things, and I-I was upset and ran out of school. I meant to come home, but I was trying too get the paint out of my face and eyes, so I stopped at the park at the water fountain thing there, and I bumped into Ivy, Harley, and Riddler. They have been helping me get the paint off of me, and they just took me to get dinner at a really cute place in the middle of town, The owner was really nice, and she makes really good food. My leftovers are in the bag over there- AND NO, you can NOT TOUCH MY FOOD. It is MINE, and I will murder ANYONE who even LOOKS at it. Grandpa Alfie and Mini Me are the only exceptions, obviously- and then Mom joined us while we were eating, so we were laughing and talking and having fun for a while. They even walked me home, and I got put under the protection of Uncle Riddler, Auntie Harley, and Auntie Ivy, and Mom kinda adopted me too, and we took a few pictures outside the gate, and I got there phone numbers, too... Oh! and Harley gave me her jacket, too! Look how cool it is, Daddy! She said that I could keep it even though I tried to give it back to her, but I want to make her a new one." I rambled, fidgeting with the hem of Mar'i's shirt and avoiding eye contact.

Jason froze. "Mom...?" he asked almost silently, low enough that only I could hear.

Then I realized my slip. "Selina. I... I don't know, she... She's like how Mama was. I feel... safe around her, protected. Like how I did with Mama Sabine, JayJay. I don't know, her presence just... hit me like how Sabine's did. I can't really explain it and make it make sense." I replied, and he nodded. "I understand. I call her Mom sometimes too. It's a thing I have with her, and when I met her for the first time, we said that it was only going to be a me and her thing, and thats why the others don't call her like I do. You are now part of that club, little sis. Good to know that I'm not the only one who thinks of her that way, to be honest. I guess it's just a Todd-Kyle tradition thing, huh?" he mused, and I giggled.

Roy sighed. "So, when are you finally give me permission to end all of your problems and blitz the Paris class, Mini Bird? Honestly, I had fun clearing out Dupain. Wiping out that stupid class will be a dream come true, Kid. All you gotta do is say the word, and I'll walk out the door and go kill them all for you, and I'll make it look like Joker did it to keep him in Arkham for a while longer." Jason's boyfriend promised, and I thought about it.

I genuinely thought about it, long and hard, feeling my family's gazes on me. I could tell that they were surprised that I was actually thinking about it, and when I came up with my decision, I was pleased at the raw shock in their faces.

"First one to kill Lila, Alya, and Adrien and stage it to make it look like that ugly ass clown did it will get a month of any desert they want, endless cuddles from me, AND, and, I'll let said person or persons perform with me at my next concert, and I'll make them an entire music career if they want to continue singing and instruments, obviously apprenticing under me until you know what you're doing and can manage on your own." I confidently said, and to my shock, Dick, Wally, Roy, Jason, Tim, Chloe, Nino, Kim, Alix, Damian, Cass, Stephanie, Duke, Dad, and Jon were all gone in milliseconds, leaving me, Titus, Alfred the cat, Alfred the human, and Mar'i in the foyer.

Grandpa shook his head fondly. "Miss Marinette, I take it that you are going to go to bed, seeing how it is almost 12 am? Miss Mar'i needs to go back to bed as well, if you don't mind." he said as I got up, and I smiled. "Of course, Alfie. I need to take a shower to properly wash my hair, anyway. Um, when they get back, can you tell them that I went to bed, and that I have Kitty Alfred with me, maybe Titus if he stays with me?" I asked, hugging him, and he nodded. "Of course, my child. I will see you in the morning. And I am glad that you are safe and sound, Marinette. You can not imagine how the family was while you were out." he said, then left.

I scooped Damian's cat up into my arms, and walked my niece to her room, where she hugged me good night and was asleep the moment her head hit her pillow. Then I went back to my room, took a nice shower, got my Super symbol summer pajamas on, then crawled into my bed, where I was quickly joined by Kitty Alfred, who cuddled up with me just under my chin, and Titus, who stretched out behind me and put his large head on my waist and tail on my legs, and then quickly fell asleep, dreaming of all the torture I had a feeling my family was doing to my class at that second.

I would not tell a single soul that I fell asleep with a smile on my face.

The smile that I deserved to have after everything that toxic class put me through, what life itself put me through.

It was time that I fought back for the happiness that I deserved and wanted to have, and this time, I wasn't going to let anyone or anything tell me otherwise or put me back down on the ground ever again.

Tomorrow was going to be a REALLY good day.
