It Will Be Okay…
Chloe pov-
A week later, Maribug and Jason were finally released from the hospital, and I noticed that Damian's friend Jon kept slightly blushing when he was around the girl.
Jason had immediately noticed, because he would give the teen a death glare that put the batglare into the dust, and Jon would pale and look away, and Jase would pull his little sister closer into him, and she would look at him with a look I wasn't able to read, and he would give her a look back.
I hated it when siblings could use expressions and be able to silently communicate with each other in their own damn language that no one else was able to understand. I hated it.
The two siblings were literally walking skeletons, and they still had a lot of bruises and stitches and had bandages up their arms, around their torsos, on their faces, and their legs, but both of them were doing okay. Physically.
Bruce was signing the Todd's out of the hospital, and Maribug was leaning against Jason in a comfortable chair while they waited to be released, and the doctor was talking to them. They both looked wary and distrusting of him, but were silent with Dick, Damian, and Roy sitting next to them. I was sitting next to Tim, my crush, who had his head in my lap so I could play with his kinda long hair, as he closed his eyes and sighed with a look of content.
The good mood I was in was cut off when my phone rang, making Mari and Jason flinch. I looked down to see Nino calling. I frowned.
Nino almost never called anyone, and when he did, it was never a good thing.
Something had to be wrong.
I gently nudged Tim off my lap and I went to the other side of the room before answering the phone, making sure I was out of earshot to Mari and Jason, who had scarily good hearing. "What's wrong?" I asked immediately. I wondered if it had anything to do with Lie-la.
"You are going to lose you're shit, Queen. Our beloved Liar Foxie got MPS kicked out of the hotel, and, on top of that, she somehow made it where no hotel in Gotham will let us stay in them, AND, we can't rent or buy a place because we're minors. The bitch told the hotel some fucking lie, and we all know the class believed her, so they convinced the hotel that we are a threat to society and Kim, Alix, and I are currently sitting in Arkham Asylum because the cops were called on us and they put us here for NO FUCKING REASON!! So, can you please come bail us out? They won't let us leave unless an outside source comes and gets us." He spat.
The glass of water I had in my hand shattered to the floor, and I shook with enrage. "She WHAT?!" I screamed angrily. Oh, I was NOT having this. "That fucking SNAKE EYED ITALIAN DEMON SPAWN!! IM GOING TO FUCKING KILL HER!!" I roared murderously, my blue eyes blazing with pure Hell. The couple in front of me fainted out of fear, and I glared at the doors. "I'm coming to get you. Don't do anything stupid until I get there, got it?" I snapped, and hung up. Oh, I was SEETHING. This damned psychopath was getting it this time. The Italian bitch was SO DEAD when I saw her face again. I was fucking DONE with this bitch, and I was REALLY over this damned class. When I saw them again, I swear to GOD their remains will never be found-
I went up to Dick and grabbed his gun. "Sorry, but I'm going to need this for a couple of hours. I have a lot of murders to commit and a crew of friends to break out of Arkham." I snarled, then spun on my heel and was about to storm off when I felt a hand on my arm gently stop me. "Bean, what happened? Tell us what's wrong so we can help you, Love." Tim softly said. Mari had a calculated look on her face as she clearly tried to put together the problem.
My grip tightened on Dicks gun, my knuckles white. Bruce and the others stared at me attentively, and I felt my eye twitch. "I just got a call from Nino. He said that Fox Eyes got us kicked out of the hotel and made it where no hotel in Gotham will accept us, and that she managed to get MPS thrown in Arkham by lying and saying we are a threat to society, and the cops threw them in there and they can't bail themselves out, which means I can't bail them out because I'm part of MPS, and Liar gave the police all of our names, which means that the cops will be coming after Maribug and I next. AND, we can't get an apartment because we're MINORS!!" I yelled furiously.
Tim looked pissed, as did The others. But Marinette looked murderous. The skeleton girl stood and stormed out of the hospital door, and I noticed Jason's gun in her hand. Her older brother almost fell trying to run after her, and she shouted at him as he tried to stop her. Bruce looked too calm. "Alfred, please go get the limo. Chloe, all four of you will be staying with my family at the manor, that way you can also be with Marinette. As for the Arkham problem, Gordon will be meeting us there, and I'll have your friends free before we get there." He said, then walked out of the building while dialing a number in his phone. I gave Dick his gun back, though I wondered if that was smart. The man looked ready to kill. "No one will notice if an entire class and a teacher disappears, right? Not like they'll be missed by anyone." He said. Damian nodded. "I have to agree with you there, Grayson. I am beginning to get annoyed with this... class..." he said in agreement, and we all headed to the limo outside.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
A few hours later, we arrived at Wayne manor, and Alfred immediately went to the kitchen to start dinner.
Cass, Steph, and Babs showed all of us our new rooms, Jason and Mari went upstairs to their rooms to change and shower, Dick went to the gym in the manor, Damian was talking to Jon in his room, Tim was in the library catching up on work and school, and Bruce was in his office working on a lot of paperwork. Wally was with Dick, and Roy was chilling in the living room with Mar'i.
This is the order of the bedrooms:
The first hall of bedrooms was Bruce, Alfred, Barbra, Dick, Duke, Stephanie, Cassandra, Tim, Damian, and Mar'i, and the second hall of bedrooms was me, Alix, Nino, Kim, Marinette, and Jason. I wondered why Jason's room was so far from the others, but I decided to ask about it later. I also noticed that the Todd's rooms were right next to each other, which I thought was kind of ironic because Maribug had chosen a random room, not paying attention to anything, and it just so happened to be next to her older brother.
Weird.
I was currently in my room unpacking my stuff when I heard a knock at the door. "Come in!" I called from the closet, putting my jeans and shoes away. I peered my head out to find Stephanie looking around. "Hey Chloe! Alfred sent me to come get everyone for dinner. Hey, I like what you've done with the room so far. It looks nice." She said. I smiled. "Thanks, Stephanie. I know you're probably tired of hearing this, but thank you for letting my friends and I stay with you and your family. You have no idea how grateful I am, and something tells me that the others feel the same." I said, putting a few pairs of jeans down on my bed and following her out of the room.
After we had made it to Mari and Jason's rooms, I knocked on Maribug's door, and Stephanie took Jason. I didn't get an answer, so I opened the door and peered inside. What I saw made me want to squeal in cuteness. Mari and Jay were deep asleep on her bed and cuddling, Jason's arms around his sister protectively and Mari curled into him. "Steph, come look!" I whispered, trying to get her attention. The older blonde came over, and she let out a quiet "Awww!" and took a picture.
"Well, they clearly won't be coming to dinner. Oh well. More for us." She snickered, and I carefully closed the door and went to the dining room with Stephanie.
Alfred frowned when he saw us. "Where is Master Jason and Miss Marinette?" He asked. I smirked and she showed him the photo. "They won't be coming downstairs anytime soon, Alfie." She said, then sat down at the table. I took a seat next to Tim as Steph sent all of us the photo in the family group chat, which MPS got added to, Mari included. I caught a small smile on Bruce's face when he looked at the photo, and I took a picture unnoticed. Blackmail in the Wayne family was a serious thing, and it was awesome because Nino, Alix, Kim, and Maribug and I blackmailed each other all the time. We didn't use Red's past against her, so we were careful with blackmail when it came to her. But everyone else played dirty.
Speaking of, Nino sent me a text in the family chat, and I gaped when I recognized the blackmail photo. I snapped my head around to glare at Nino, who simply smirked. "So, when are you going to pay up on that bet, Bee?" He smugly said. The whole room was quiet, apart from MPS trying to stifle their laughter. "Why you little fucking tortoise-" I began, pulling out a dagger from my sleeve, only to freeze when Alfred appeared out of nowhere. "Dinner is ready, Masters and Misses. And Miss Chloe, please refrain from fighting. The manor is finally quiet, and I intend to enjoy it while it lasts." He said, then vanished, literally. I gaped at the spot he was just standing. "How did he do that? He literally vanished- teleported! Does he have a miraculous Maribug doesn't know about, or is he just magic or something? Is that normal?" I asked, dumbfounded.
The Wayne's nodded. "Those are questions even we don't know the answer to, but yeah, that's pretty normal for him. You'll get used to it, Chloe." Dick said, sitting at the table. All of us took our seats and had a good dinner, and I was impressed. This was almost as good as Marinette's cooking. Wait till Maribug tastes this, she'll love it! I thought, cleaning my plate. I was hungrier than I thought. Alix, Nino, and Kim were wolfing down their food almost as fast as I was, and I looked at them. "Slow down, boys and girl. You'll choke if you eat that fast." I said with a motherly tone that I didn't know slipped out.
Nino and Alix glared. "Queen, you know this is the first meal we've had in days. We're hungrier than a pack of wolves. And you can't tell us off when you did the same thing. Let us eat. We'll be fine, Mom." Alix snarkily said, shoving a roll in her mouth. I heard her stomach growl from across the table. I huffed and rolled my eyes, ignoring my own growling stomach. The Wayne's watched in amusement, and Bruce called Alfred back into the room. "Alfred, can you get the kids more food, please? They're pretty hungry." He laughed.
We flushed red in embarrassment, but fell into hunger and eagerness when a lot more food came. Alix and Kim looked at the mountain came, and all three of them looked at me in unison, silently asking permission. I stared at them. "What are you looking at me for? This is America. It's a free country. Do what you want. You can choose for yourselves. Y'all looking at me like I'm the boss or something. Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous." I huffed, watching my family grab food and eat. Nino looked at me. "You're the mother of MPS, Chlo. We all know that, and you ARE the leader of MPS, so, yea, of course we are going to look to you before doing something. We respect you, Chloe." He said, waiting for Alix and Kim to get their share of the food before gesturing for me to get mine.
I did, and he got his after I got mine. "However, as the oldest of us, it's my natural responsibility to look after ALL of you, so I fit the big brother spot nicely. Besides; we all know that I'm the best fighter in Paris, they know about my number, and I know Europe knows what I'm capable of. They don't call me the Devil for no reason, you know." He calmly added, watching the younger two eat. Seeing that Alix had one bite left, he quickly swapped plates with her as she picked up the last bite off of her plate, giving her his and taking her now empty plate. He then filled the plate back up and did the same with Kim a moment later, and did the same with me a bit after, repeating the process over and over, never taking any for himself. He was making sure we had our fill before he took a plate for him. That was something he ALWAYS did, especially with Marinette.
Dick watched curiously. "What do you mean, your number?" He asked slowly. The former assassin smirked darkly. "Ask Damian. He knows full well what I'm talking about." He said, taking a sip of a beer. Damian gaped at him in shock and awe. "You're him. I- I thought Grandfather killed you. You- you're a fucking LEGEND in the League. You were the only one that Grandfather and mother feared because of how deadly and powerful you were. You were the one that trained me before Jason came." He said in admiration.
Nino grinned. "I trained you and him. Hell, I taught a lot of the league, but only the ones I trusted. As for Ra's, you actually think that musty old man can kill me? Have you seen how miserably he's failed, every time he tried? I'm the only one that made the League of Assassins actually deadly, no offense to you or Jason. But I left them for a reason. Glad I did, too. Though there is only one thing I would change if I could go back in time." He said. Cass gave him a questioning look, and Nino sighed and swapped with Alix again, then rubbed his wrist. "I should have taken Damian and Jason with me when I left the League, whether I got out or not. I should have gotten them out of there, but Ra's hid you two somewhere I wouldn't find you because he knew I was planning on getting you out of there. My only regret is not being able to find you and leaving you there on your own. That is the one thing I've never forgave myself for, and I never will." He said with a dark but almost silent whisper, then left, abandoning his food now that Alix and Kim had ate their fill.
We were silent as he silently left the room and disappeared around the corner, and the silence was broken by the sound of someone softly snoring. I turned to see Alix passed out with her head on the table, and Kim with his elbow in the table and head in his hand, being out like a light. I smirked and took a photo, then stood. My younger family members looked peaceful, something they haven't looked in days. I didn't blame them.
Tim yawned next to me, and I studied all of the sleepy kids with a calculated look, trying to figure out how to get all of them upstairs. Dick and Cass stood and picked up the two sleeping teenagers, and I stood Tim up. "Come on, Amour. You need to get some sleep." I said as the Wayne's carried my friends upstairs. Tim nodded and followed me to the stairs, and I turned to look at Bruce, who was giving me a knowing and thankful look. "Thank you for dinner, Bruce, and I really thank you for letting all of us stay here with your family. You don't know how much of a huge blessing you are to all of us, and I don't think we could ever repay you for your kindness for helping us. It means a lot, in case we don't show it. Know one has ever done anything kind for us, so you're the first, and I'm never going to forget it. Thank you," I quietly said, then grabbed Tim's hand and led him to his room, where I got him to get to bed.
I was about to leave when I thought he was asleep when he quickly but gently grabbed my wrist. "Stay... I don't want to be alone tonight," he murmured. I blushed, thankful I was already in my pajamas, and I laid next to him and curled into him. "I love you, Chloe Bourgeois." He said into my ear, wrapping his arms around me. I smiled and put my head on his chest. "I love you, too, Tim Drake," I breathed back, and I felt a kiss on my head as I fell asleep.
The Wayne family truly was a blessing. God only knew where we'd be if it weren't for them. Some of us would probably be dead by now. But because of Bruce's kindness and hospitality, we all had full stomached, a safe place to sleep, warm beds and clothes, and a roof over our heads.
That was more than the cold streets would provide.
