New Powers Can be a Pain
"Kitty, calm down," Rogue said as she checked Sam's and Kurt's pulse. They were both alive, just knocked out. Now, she had to take care of Kitty. She crawled over to the corner where Kitty was huddled holding her head.
"I can hear their voices screaming at me," Kitty said her hands still on either side of her head. "Make it stop!" She screamed and suddenly she disappeared with a puff of smoke.
"Damn it!" Rogue said and felt herself sinking into the floor again. "Not now!" she screamed and tried to pull herself up.
After all the commotion many of the kids came running into the foyer to see what was going on. Rogue was finally able to pull herself out of the floor and completely solidified just as Kurt and Sam were coming to.
Scott approached her with Jean not far behind. "What the hell is going on here?" He looked over at Rogue with a somewhat accusing look.
"Ah didn't do this, Scott," Rogue said, trying to explain the situation. "It was Kitty."
Scott shook his head not believing her. "How did she do that?"
""Cause she's got my powers," she said, looking over at her brother who was holding his head.
"Vhat happened?" Kurt asked as Rogue helped him into a sitting position.
"Don't worry, little brother, everythin's gonna be fine," she said, not realizing that she was touching his arm with her bare hand. Kurt looked surprised but did not shy away. He was one if the few people who wasn't afraid to get close to Rogue.
"You're touching him and..." Scott said pointing at the two of them and unable to finish his statement.
"Ah've been tryin' to tell ya that somehow me and Kitty switched powers."
"How?" Jean asked, walking up next to Rogue and Kurt. Sam was now sitting up but looking rather weak.
"Anyone get the name of that truck?" Sam asked, shaking his head hoping to get his senses back.
"We need to speak to the Professor right now about this situation," Jean said, helping Sam to his feet.
No need, the professor’s voice came into the minds of his students that were in the foyer. They all wore shocked looks on their faces, even Jean. No matter how many times he did that they could never get used to it. Our first priority is to find Kitty.
Can you locate her? Jean asked sending him a mental message.
She is in the gym, the professor said but only in Jean's mind. I'm afraid she is very distraught. Calming her down will not be easy. I suggest you and Rogue go down there and attend to her. Have Scott see to Kurt and Sam.
Yes, Professor, Jean said and looked over to Scott. "The professor wants you to stay here while Rogue and I see to Kitty. She's in the gym."
"Makes sense that she would go there," Rogue said, which surprised Scott but not Jean. "Ah always go there when ah'm upset. Punching the bag makes me feel better."
Scott just rolled his eyes as Rogue and Jean prepared to make the trip down to the gym. When they got there they saw Kitty punching the bag. Jean looked over at Rogue and gave a little laugh.
"She's acting like you," Jean said as Rogue rolled her eyes.
"Let's just go," Rogue said, grabbing her arms but her hands went right through the red-head. "New powers are a pain."
