Chapter 4
Agatha is crouching over Sharon's body "didn't think you had it in you" she says while Teen and Alice are digging a grave
"Who is she speaking to?" America asks
Teen asks what she's talking about but doesn't get a response Alice crouches over Sharon and Lilia says to that Lorna is to the Road "she did die on the road in a hotel fire" Jen asks why Alice came "she said the Road would save me" Alice responds "from what?" Jen asks. Agatha claps her hands "let's hit the Road" she says turning around before turning back and asking what the issue is
"How about the dead woman?" Natasha says
Lilia says that a woman is dead "yes and Teen and Alice are kindly digging a grave, so they'll catch up when they can" Agatha says. "Putting aside your staggering callousness" Jen says they have an incomplete coven, Agatha admits that Sharon was a bad choice "but more power for the rest of us, after all it's as the song says, burn and brew with coven two and glory shall be thine" Jen argues that its coven true and the two bicker about it
"According to Lorna Wu's song its coven true" Kate says getting looks "what I listen to that song on repeat, its so good"
Jen says that without her they wouldn't have survived the last trial "not all of us did" Alice says "well where were you when she needed protecting?" Jen shoots back, Lilia says that Sharon drank two glasses of the poisoned wine "and how many doses of the antidote did she get Potions Witch? This is your fault" Lilia says and everyone bickers about it
"Oh who cares who's fault it is, it happened and they need to keep moving" Loki says getting a little irritated by their constant arguing
Teen wishes they could go home "we can't, but we can't go forward, not without a replacement Green Witch" Alice says "people can't be replaced" Teen says "can't they?" Agatha responds, they decide to summon a replacement Green Witch to the Road using Teen's spell book
"Teen is right, people can't be replaced" Thor says thinking about his people, Wanda nodded thinking about her parents and brother
The coven make a figure in the leaves and all say the aspects of the Green Witch they want, Lilia asks for a witch skilled in her craft, Agatha asks for witch who is smart and not annoying, Jen asks for a witch who is pleasant looking "can she bring some advil?" Alice asks
Clea nods her head 'those are some good aspects' "yeah I would be asking for advil too" Sam said getting many nods of agreement
They say the spell, only for nothing to happen Lilia says the spell needs sometime to work, a hand bursts out Sharon's grave and a contorting body soon follows "Agatha what did you do?" Jen accuses Agatha says that it was clearly a group effort as Teen asks if they made Mrs Hart into a zombie. The person is revealed to be Rio Vidal "heard you guys were having a party" she says
'Her again? Who the hell is she?' Clea thinks "oh look its the person that should've been brought onto the Road in the first place" Loki says
Rio presents Agatha with the flower she put on the ground, Agatha yells in anger and tries to attack her but everyone holds her back. Agatha storms off with Teen following her "so you're a Green Witch?" Jen asks Rio says she less of "a" Green Witch and more "The Green Witch" in a demonic voice.
Clea gasps 'Mistress Death' she thought 'what would she be doing there?' "man that woman is freaky" America says shuddering at the voice
Rio starts walking the Road, Alice asks if they could trust her Jen says that since Agatha hates Rio it's a pro in her column, Rio turns around causing Alice, Lilia and Jen to stop, she smiles at them and continues walking "what a scary bitch" Lilia says
Shang-chi nodded his head at that statement
They find the next house the trial is in, Alice walks away Agatha follows her asking her what she's going to do "go anywhere but in that house" Alice states before pausing as they see the house in the direction they were now walking in "I agree, but the Road doesn't" Agatha says
"They have no choice but to go inside as passing the trials is the only way to leave" Wong says in realisation
On the door is a waxing moon "fire phase" Lilia says. They walk in and are dressed in 1970s outfits while being in a recording studio, Alice tells everyone not eat, drink or touch anything "sounds like there's a story there" Rio says
"They have to play something" Tony says "man their outfits look good" Kate says admiring their clothes "whose trial do you think it is?" America asks
"We're an album cover waiting to happen" Teen says as they all look at themselves in the mirror.
Several people snorted
Lilia feels uneasy as she looks at tapestries of witches being executed, Jen looks at masks on the. Alice sees a picture of her mother, "she was trying to open the Road with her concerts wasn't she?" Lilia asks, Alice says Lorna's fans were her coven "which is it, am I wispy or am I kooky?" Lilia suddenly asks, Alice says that she's kind of both "Alice, Alice don't" Lilia starts to say "don't what?" Lilia is confused
'Her flow of time is clearly fragmented as that was clearly her consciousness from the future' Clea thought "what is with these weird sentences?" Sam asks
Agatha walks into the control room and Rio joins her. Rio pulls out her knife saying she's getting impatient and wants to cause some damage "your to early" Agatha says "the spell channeled the most appropriate candidate down or up in this case"
"Seriously I am getting majorly confused here, who is she?" Tony asks 'Mistress Death is the most appropriate candidate?' Clea thought in confusion
Rio asks why Agatha brought Teen "more hands" she responds with. Agatha and Rio lean against the recording bench and Agatha asks her what she wants, she subtly activates the microphone "I get to watch you do what you do best" Rio says unaware that the others are listening "which is?" "Kill all the witches around you, I get my bodies and you get your power" Rio says Agatha pretends to be offended by Rio's words.
'Mistress Death, you've always been such a violent little thing' Clea thinks "is that woman a serial killer or something?" Kamala asks, Stephen and Wong tilt their heads "feels like I should know her from somewhere" Stephen says with Wong nodding
Everyone covers their ears as a horrible sound is played. Teen is at a record player and holds up a record cover with the words 'Play Me' on it, Agatha realises that the record is playing backwards and destroys the record player "we've been cursed" Lilia states as a metronome starts ticking
"Oh great" Clint says looking exasperated
"I think the trial's started" Rio says smiling Jen asks why she's smiling Agatha calls her a tourist "she's a psycho" Jen says nothing happens having Teen wonder if the curse wasn't so bad, Alice says she feels lighter. Lilia starts screaming as she begins to smoke, Alice takes a Rio's knife and carves a circle around her which stops the smoke.
Stephen raised his eyebrows "that curse is not playing around"
Teen asks how to break a curse "the only way to break a curse is to face it" Lilia says, Jen starts screaming as she starts to smoke, Alice draws a protective circle around her, Teen points out Jen's shoulders which have claw marks, Lilia reveals that she has them to. Alice discovers that the record is Lorna's version of the Ballad
Loki raised an eyebrow "I'm not familiar with a curse that courses those kind of marks" "Alice Wu, Lorna Wu. The Wu family, I didn't recognise the name because it's been years since I read about them. Their family accidentally angered a demon and that demon cursed the women of the family" Wong says "magic's nothing but trouble" Tony muttered
Agatha realises that the curse came from Alice who says she didn't think it was real "I thought it was me, the reason I can't hold a job and why everything I touch turns to shit. I couldn't save her" she says revealing the curse marks on her shoulders saying she convinced herself they were birthmarks.
"Poor girl" Natasha says
Jen asks if this was a generational curse and now their stuck with it. Teen is thrown backwards through the recording studios window, Agatha runs to him and he asks if he's a member of the coven now
"That's what he is concerned about?" Clint asks "why would Agatha be the one to check on him?" Wanda asks "maybe she's not as bad as you make her out to be" Clea bit out
Agatha comes back into the studio "all signs point to a jam session, we have to play Lorna's version" Alice refuses to play it, Agatha tells her she should burnt to a crisp years ago "Lorna's version is a protection spell" Agatha says as there is always someone playing the song that Alice hates
"Disguising a spell as a song, never thought of that before" Loki says with the magic users nodding their heads
Everyone grabs an instrument with Agatha on the microphone and Alice on piano. Agatha starts to smoke, but tells Alice to start. They play the song and Teen notices a shard of glass in his side, but keeps quiet
"The boy's injured" Wanda says feeling a strange sense of mothership over the boy "and he is keeping quiet about it until they finish the trial" Clint says his father instincts kicking in "foolish boy"
Alice sees the curse and it lands on her shoulders as she finishes the song breaking the curse. The piano opens up revealing a way out. Teen then collapses, Agatha is worried
"Why is Agatha worrying about the boy or is she pretending?" Vision asks making Clea roll her eyes
The coven is able to get Teen out of the trial and lay him on a rock, Jen safely pulls out the glass and gathers ingredients for a healing potion "don't" Agatha says looking at Rio. "Three of Swords" Lilia says
"Don't what and why is she looking at Rio?" Steve asks "Rio is Mistress Death or Lady Death or just Death or whatever you people call her" Clea says shocking everyone "is she Death personified?" Tony asks looking like he wants to punch himself for asking that question "no she's Death a primordial entity that's been around since the creation of the world. She's one of Dormammu's favourite actually" Clea says "I'm surprised that you three don't know anything about her" she continues looking at Loki, Stephen and Wong, Loki merely shrugged "our sister is the Goddess of Death, so I never really thought about Earth's version of Death" "all the books I've read never mentioned Death being a woman only that's its a force" Stephen says with Wong in agreement which makes Clea groan "when we get out of here I'm going to give you two some remedial classes on magic" she says 'three of swords, another tarot card'
Jen heals Teen and the coven decide to spend sometime in the clearing to let Teen recover Jen reveals that she was a midwife and was lured into a trap by a doctor who bound her without any magic of his own
Clea frowned "that's not possible every spell requires magic, either she thinks she was bound and never actually was or a witch helped the doctor to bind her" she says Bruce rubbed his head "I'm getting a headache" Tony and Peter let out noises of agreement
Alice says that when her mother died she forgot everything she was taught because she was so angry and now she's just sad, Lilia tells her that sad is better than angry. "You know what's the worse thing about being a witch? All the misconceptions and fear mongering" Lilia says
Kamala nodded in agreement "for me it's that all Muslims are terrorists" she says getting looks of sympathy
Teen asks if Agatha is the one who put the sigil on him, she tells him no "even if I did I wouldn't know, sigils work on the witch who placed it as well which is why their super irritating" Agatha says, Teen asks if they can be lifted. Agatha explains that sigils are destroyed when their purpose are no longer needed "what actually happened to your son?" Teen asks "heal quickly, we're not staying long" Agatha says tensely
"Whatever happened to him must be very hard for her to talk about" Clea says "yeah like her trading him for the Book of the Damned" Sam says snidely before flinching as Clea shot a spell at him
Lilia reveals a vampire bit her and she knocked out his tooth
"Vampires are real?!" Kate shrieked "oh yes, as are Werewolves" Clea says smirking a little
"You know we really kind of hated each other in the beginning but now" Lilia starts to say, Jen asks her where she goes. Agatha joins them and says that Teen is mouthy.
'Again more signs that Lilia is slipping through time' Clea thinks
Agatha is asked to show her battle scars, she shows a scar on her elbow "knitting needle, ever hear of the Daughters of Liberty?" She asks they say haven't "exactly" Rio says she has a scar "no you don't" Agatha says. Rio goes on to explain that she had a job to do and she hurt someone close to her. Agatha gets up and walks away Rio follows her. Agatha goes to kiss Rio who tells her that Teen isn't hers.
"Rio must have taken Agatha's son, that's why she hates her so much" Clea says "but weren't they in a relationship?" Peter asks "relationship or not, Death still had a job to do" Loki says.
Episode 4 done. We are getting closer to the reveal.
