Only a fool could believe he's won before the game is done
“This is the worst day ever” These were the six words Peter has been repeating in his head since he got out of bed this morning and so far that much could be true his toast was burnt his much-needed caffeine was cold and he didn't have time to reheat it before Happy whisked him off to school at seven mother fucking thirty.
“PETER!” Ned had called enthusiastically with such excitement Peter couldn't even hope to fake
As Peter wove through excited students heading towards Ned's voice where he saw him practically jumping on the spot “Hey Ned” Peter waved as he approached
“Hey Peter, are you excited? I'm so excited this will be awesome. Omg, do you think we’ll meet any of the Avengers? What about Dr Banner that will be mind-blowing.”
“Ned, as excited as you are, try to remember to breathe?” with a very excited nod Peter knew when they got to the tower Ned would already have forgotten about breathing
“Mr Parker” shit Mr Harrington
“Yes Mr Harrington,” Peter said spinning around to face him
“Remember to be on your best behaviour.”
“Of course, Mr Harrington,” Peter said sweetly
“I'll be watching you” Peter gulped a full-on audible gulp this is the worst day ever.
Peter watched as Mr Harrington spun on his feet and marched to the bus’s door. Peter watched as Mr Harrington cleared his throat and everyone turned to listen.
“Right, let's get moving. Line up along the bus when you hop on. I need you to give me your permission slips. I expect them to all be signed” he raised an eyebrow towards a few students which included Peter.
He was smug for about two seconds before he realised just who had signed his permission slip. shit!
Peter had his slip in his pocket which now weighed a few tons. As he anxiously watched everyone hand in their slip and hoping into the bus Peter could only hope Mr Harrington didn't pay to much attention.
With Ned at the end of the line behind Peter it took forever to get to the bus door where Mr Harrington loomed daunting Peter as he rushed to grab the slip out of his pocket handing it to Mr Harrington and rushing onto the bus he slipped into a seat ducking down.
Peter was about to relax thinking he had gotten away with it until a booming voice called out..
“MR PARKER! GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW”
SHIT!
Peter slowly made his way back to the front of the bus where Mr Harrington was looking red as a tomato “yes Mr Harrington? What's wrong?” gods new Peter was laying it on strong but, what is he kidding there's no but to that he had hoped he wouldn't get caught.
“ Do you really think I am that stupid?”
yes
“ to believe that Tony Stark personally signed your form?”
he did
“ You know what this means Peter”
nope, none at all
“ you have to call your guardian to come pick you up, you are not coming on this trip and expect to see an email sent to your guardian to come in on Monday to discuss your punishment!”
Peter was stunned he'd have to call Happy to come get him and well he'd be pissed, and after how Mr Harrington reacted to just Tonys name on paper imagine how he'd look on Monday with Tony Stark his part time guardian showing up. Peter was well and truly Fucked
“What are you staring at call your gardian, go on”
Peter was numb his movements were robotic as he pulled his phone out of his pocket he slowly started calling Happy and raising it to his ear when Mr Harrington smugly told Peter
“No put them on speaker Mr Parker.” so he did
His phone speckers blared to life giving out a soft ring ring…..ring ring….
”Peter?”
Relief flooded through him “Yeah its me I just need you to come pick me up from school”
“What? Why?” Happy sounded a little annoyed and a touch concerned. shit.
“Umm my teacher” But Peter was abruptly interrupted by Mr Harrington
“Peter needs to be picked up immediately, as he was caught lying and falsifying a celebrity’s signature on his permission slip he has been nothing but rude and his behaviour is completely unacceptable”
Only now did Peter realise that the entire bus was silent including Happy out of anger of disbelief Peter didn't know.
“Righht, I'll be right there.”
Mr Harrington let out a noise of satisfaction before Marching Peter off the bus.
Pushing past Ned who had his jaw on the floor in the door to the bus where he stumbled back on to the pavement.
Peter had moved to help him up when he got pulled to the side by Mr Harrington with his hands digging into Peter's flesh and shoved forward towards the front of the bus where he got told to sit and wait.
Mr Harrington had already made it back onto the bus and was addressing the team probably saying shit about Peter but he couldn't make himself care here he was sitting on the pavement waiting for Happy to pick him up jus like he had been told to do.
Peter could say he was slow to anger that was until you hurt a loved one and Ned was still brushing the stones out of cuts on his hands while Mr Harrington stood smug as he snatched Ned’s permission slip and made a show of checking for forgery while Ned tried to convince him to let Peter come.
Peter saw red.
His rage only fueling as Mr Harrington laughed at Neds face before letting him on the bus.
——————————
Mr Harrington stood in front of Peter he didn't know when he had gotten there only there he was slowly ripping Peter's permission slip with a smug smile.
——————————
Then Happy was there crouching in front of Peter while the bus drove off.
“Hey kid want to tell me what happened? and why did you rip your permission slip kid?” Happy asked looking down towards peters ripped permission slip at his feet
Happy seemed so concerned that Peter’s heart broke at the sight of just another thing Mr Harrington had caused.
“ I didn't, my teacher did. Get FRIDAY to check the school's cameras if you don't believe me.” Peter was scheming Mr Harrington was going to pay and Peter knew just how to make it so.
“I believe you kid, but why on earth did your teacher say you were committing fraud?” Peter leaned forward and picked up the few prices of paper in front of him putting them together before wordlessly pointing out Tony’s signature “ I see, did that dickhead of a teacher not believe that you know Tony?”
Peter looked up at Happys face “ Yup. And he's a total dick who pushed Ned over”
Almost immediately Happy’s face went through a few stages of disbelief, anger, understanding
“And what do you want to do about it kid?”
“Make him pay” Peter answered simply
“Then what are you waiting for kid? Get in the car, we have to beat them to the tower.”
They were gleefully grinning as Happy pulled into the busy New York traffic.
Mr Harrington was blissfully unaware of the storm that was heading his way and Peter couldn't wait.
