The Arena
Spider-Man woke up, and saw that he was in a jail cell. "Wait how did I get in here again?" He asked himself confused. "Wasn't I fighting the Rhino at a bank? He didn't put me here...wait! it was those 2 robots." Spider-Man said remembering what happened before he passed out. "Where did those robots come from?" He asked himself in confusion. "Well it looks like i'm dealing with someone that can create some pretty advanced tech" He said looking at the holographic energy field that blocked him from leaving the cell. He then looked outside the cell and saw nothing but a bunch of empty cells and a dimly lit hallway. At that moment two droids came out of a portal and walked up to Spider-Man's cell.
"Peter Parker, please come with us." One of the droids said to him. Spider-Man immediately touched his face to see if his mask was removed, but he quickly realized that it was still on him. "We do not need to take your mask off to find out who you are. We have very detailed information on everyone who is brought here." The droid said.
"How did you get this information, and who did you tell?" Spider-Man asked becoming more and more worried.
"We send scouts to watch over every contestant silently before they are brought here." One of the droids said. "The only human we tell this information to, is our boss, and he tells his boss about it."
"Who is your boss?" Spider-Man asked ready to break out of there. "And why couldn't I sense your scout with my spider sense?"
"I'm sure this is all very hard to understand for you, but I'll make it simple for you." One of the droids said sarcastically. "Our bosses like to keep their identities a secret. We droids have a cloaking device that lets us be invisible and undetectable by anything. You will learn the rest when you need to."
"That doesn't tell me anything at all!" Spider-Man said annoyed with the droids.
"It's time for you to go, come on." One of the droids said ignoring Spider-Man's response. One of the droids took out handcuffs and pressed a button on the wall to turn of the holographic energy field to the cell. They then handcuffed Spider-Man and started to take him down the hallway. Spider-Man then tried to ram into one of the droids using his full body strength, but the droid was unaffected by the attack. "The handcuffs your wearing keep you from using your powers against us." One of the droids said to him.
"I'll get out of here somehow" Spider-Man said while feeling a bit of pain from his attack. He is taken into an elevator at the end of the hallway and is taken down to the first floor. The prison was a little worn down but had high tech elements where they were needed, like for the cell doors and the elevator. The entire prison was dimly lit and had dirty gray walls and white floors. It also seemed empty with how big it was and not having any prisoners or guards around. Spider-Man and the droids walked through the lobby, and through the doors where there were two droids guarding the entrance. "There are definitely not enough guards here" Spider-Man said laughing.
"You can go" One of the droids guarding the door said to them, ignoring what Spider-Man said. They then got on a boat that was sitting by the doc of the prison, as the prison was in the middle of the ocean.
"I thought you could teleport, why are we taking a boat?" Spider-Man asked one of the droids.
"We can't take humans with us every time we want to teleport, because we travel through the space between universes, and going there too many times would not be good for you." One of the droids said to him. "Now we are not going to answer anymore questions, because we do not feel like it."
"You guys seem more human than robotic" Spider-Man said to the droids. They ignored him, and he started to think about Mary Jane. 'When I get out of here, I'm going to have to tell MJ I'm Spider-Man' He thought to himself. 'If I don't she's never going to talk to me again. I just hope she won't be put in danger by knowing about me. How am I going to get out of here anyway?' Spider-Man thought of many different ways to escape before he was interrupted by what he saw in front of him. They had gotten to the shore of New York city, and what Spider-Man saw shocked him. The city seemed abandoned, it was night time and there were no lights anywhere. There were also no cars and not many people walking around. Some of the buildings also had pieces missing or were reduced to piles of rubble. "What happened here!" Spider-Man yelled. "What did you do?! How long was I asleep?!."
"We will not be answering anymore questions Peter. Good luck!" One of the droids said sarcastically. The droids then teleported away leaving Spider-Man alone.
"I can't believe this!" Spider-Man said to himself as he fell to his knees. His spider sense then tingled and he looked up to see there were people watching him from all over the area. Before he could talk to them a big holographic dome rose up and covered the city.
Meanwhile...
Batman also woke up in a jail cell. One Far away from any other prisoners. He was silent, analyzing his environment. Even when 2 droids came to take him out of his cell,and called him by his real name, he still was silent. He was taken on a boat and brought to the city. "Most people ask all kinds of questions, and freak out when they see the city." One of the droids said to Batman. "But you don't seem to be shocked at all. Why is that?" Batman ignored the droid and looked at the city. "At least we can have some peace and quiet for once." The droid said to the other droid.
'Something about this city seems different' Batman thought to himself. 'There isn't a super prison this close outside of New York. I couldn't have been asleep long enough for them to build this prison and do this much damage to the city. That portal must have taken me to the future, or maybe even an alternate universe.' The droids left Batman in the city and he walked around trying to figure out what happened there, still seeing people that he suspected were brought here to.
"What's going on here?" a voice said from a dark alleyway.
"I'm not sure, I've been trying to figure that out myself." Batman said looking towards the alleyway. "Who are you?"
"My name is Bruce Banner" The man said stepping out of the alleyway, wearing noting but torn pants. "These two robots brought me here and they refused to answer many of my questions."
"I don't think this is either of our homes, this has to be some kind of alternate universe." Batman said to Bruce. "What happened to you? where are your clothes?"
"Did you just say we are in an alternate universe!" Bruce yelled ignoring Batman's question. "How are we supposed to get out of here! Alright Alright, I need to calm down before I..." Bruce was interrupted by a large holographic dome appearing over the city. Bruce and Batman stared up in confusion, along with several other people who were hiding in buildings or in dark places. A giant green and yellow television screen carried by four droids came rising above the city.
"Welcome heroes and villains to the third multiverse death match." The man that appeared on the screen said, with his face hidden in the dark. "If you didn't already guess I have taken you out of your universes and brought you into this one so you could compete in my competition. All you have to do to win is make sure you outlive everyone else. Only one of you is allowed to leave here alive. If you survive you will have a place in my army, if you die or refuse to participate, your universe will be destroyed. Just to show you I am not lying I am going to show recorded footage of my nuclear bombs destroying one of the many earths." The screen then switches to two droids in space launching three powerful nuclear missiles out of a spaceship toward the earth, the missiles hit the planet and it is turned to dust in seconds. The screen then switches to the man again. "You can try to escape all you like but you can never leave without my help, you may not want to do this but it is the only way to save your home. The competition begins now!" The screen then shut off and was flown away.
"He has to be lying" Batman said to himself. "How could he have enough fire power to destroy that many universes?"
"Oh no no, no, no, no!" Bruce yelled. "This is really bad, I don't want to kill all these people!"
"You don't have to, we can find a way out of this." Batman said trying to calm Bruce down.
"He's already coming out!, Run before he attacks you!"
"Who are you talking about?" Batman asked confused. At that moment Bruce's skin turned green, and he started to grow into a big green monster.
"Hulk Smash!" Hulk said running toward Batman and lifting both his arms up to smash him into the ground. Batman rolls out of the way just before Hulk smashes his fists down.
"Bruce calm down! I don't know whats going on with you, but I know you don't want to do this!" Batman said to Hulk. Hulk only charged toward him again, this time jumping in the air. Batman took out his grappling gun and shot it toward a building to get out of the way. When he reached the top of the building, he looked around and and saw battles happening all over the city. Before he could react to this, Hulk jumped up to the building, ran towards him and backhanded him. Batman then crashed through a window into the building next door. 'I need to get him out of my way so I can figure out how to deal with this.' He thought while lying on the floor. 'But this guy may be stronger than bane' Hulk then jumped through the wall into the building, and walked toward Batman.
"Hulk will smash you!" Hulk yelled while lifting his arms up to pound Batman. Batman was prepared for this and threw a smoke bomb directly into Hulk's eyes, and then got up and placed a few explosives around the room. Hulk tried to find Batman while smashing into things, until his vision cleared up.
"I'm sorry about this Bruce, but you left me no choice" Batman said before he jumped out of the building, while taking his grappling hook out and shooting it towards another building. He then detonates the explosives just before Hulk could come after him, and the top half of the building fell on top of Hulk. Batman then looked at the city, wondering what to do next.
Meanwhile...
Doctor Strange wasn't sure where he was at first. He only knew that he couldn't use his magic at first, he was seemingly the only prisoner in the prison he was in, and he needed to get out of this situation immediately. He tried calling for a guard, but no one came. "Great!" Doctor Strange said frustratedly. "They just kidnap me, take my magic and then ignore me. I'm probably going to be stuck in this cell for a long time." Just then a portal opened and two droids stepped out of it.
"Steven Strange, come with us." one of the droids said.
"I'm not going anywhere until you explain where I am and why you kidnapped me." Doctor Strange said annoyed.
"You'll find out soon enough. Now come us." One of the droids said grabbing him. Doctor Strange tried to resist but they easily overpowered him without his magic. He tried to ask the droids questions but they did not answer most of them. Doctor Strange then tried to figure out what was happening on his own. There were 100's of scenarios that he thought of but no of them predicted being left in a desolate looking New York city with not very many people around. Before he could ask more questions the droids opened a portal and disappeared. Doctor Strange did find out what was happening after watching the giant television screen carried by four droids. After hearing everything the man on the screen said. Doctor Strange then opened a portal, realizing he could use his magic again. He then jumped through it into an empty building. 'There has to be some way to get out of here' Doctor Strange thought to himself. 'That man on the screen has to be lying. If anyone can find a way out of here, it'll be me.' He then went to look out the window and saw that a huge battle had already begun. Heroes and villains were fighting all over the city, some crashing into buildings, being thrown great distances, and even killed. "If I don't find a way out of here, am I going to have to kill all these people to protect my universe?" Doctor Strange said to himself. "No! I have to find a way out of here, I know there is one." A version of Superman then busted right through the side of the building, and was right in front of Doctor Strange in an instant.
"I'm sorry about this" Superman said sadly. "I've searched all around the city, and tried to break out of this dome, but I don't know what more I can do."
"I'm sure there is some way out of here, there has to be." Doctor Strange said confidently.
"Do you have any ideas?" Superman asked hopeful.
"I don't have anything yet, I just need some time to think."
"I can't risk losing anyone else." Superman said crying. "I've already lost Lois and Jimmy because of Lex Luthor. "
'I'm going to have to fight this guy aren't I?' Doctor Strange thought to himself while casting a spell behind his back.
"I can see what you're doing,I have X-ray vision!" Superman said about to punch Doctor Strange. Superman landed a punch on Doctor Strange, but the spell that Doctor Strange cast put a protective barrier around his body, shielding him from Superman's punch. Superman was confused and Doctor Strange quickly casted another spell that caused fire to shoot out of his hands, and directed it toward Superman. Superman was not affected by this, and used his freeze breath to put out the flames Doctor Strange created.
"You're fire proof?!" Doctor Strange asked surprised.
"I'm a lot stronger than you think." Superman said punching Doctor Strange out of the building and sending him crashing into another one. He was able to survive because he still had his protective barrier around him, but Superman almost broke through it.
"I have got to get rid of this guy fast!" Doctor Strange said getting off the floor."
Superman then flew right outside the building Doctor Strange was in and shot lasers out of his eyes toward him. Doctor Strange then casted a spell that deflected the lasers back to Superman, causing him to be disoriented. Doctor Strange then opened a portal to the mirror dimension trying to trap Superman in there. Superman was able to grab Doctor Strange, causing them both to be trapped in the mirror dimension. Doctor Strange then got free of Superman's grip and tried to trap Superman between different objects. He was able to break through them all and came after Doctor Strange who tried to open a portal before he got to him. As soon as the portal was open, Superman tackled Doctor Strange through it back into the building they were just in. He then threw Doctor Strange against a wall causing his protective barrier to break. Superman then charged him, but Doctor Strange opened a portal to the other side of the city just before Superman could get to him. Superman then went straight through the portal and Doctor Strange closed it before Superman could turn around. "This is going to be a really long day" Doctor Strange said to himself while still catching his breath.
Meanwhile...
Lex Luthor woke up in a cell just like the others. He was also confused about what was happening to him. "Hello! Is anybody there!?" He yelled out, but there was no response. "I know there's some way to get out of here, and if anyone can figure it out, it's me!" Lex said to himself while thinking of ways to escape. He was still wearing his armored suit, but it's weapons could not penetrate the energy field. Not too much time passed before two droids came out of a portal. One of the droids took down the energy field while the other shot Lex with an emp that disabled his suit. Lex fell with thud on his back, becoming like a statue, only being able to move his head with how heavy the suit was.
"Lex Luthor you are coming with us" One of the droids said.
"I should be afraid for my life, but I'm more curious about your design." Lex said while being picked up by the two droids. "I mean you have teleportation, emp blasts, you can speak, and you have incredible strength. Is there anything else you can do?"
"We will only speak when necessary" One of the droids said to Lex. They went down the hallway, into the elevator, and on the boat towards the city. Once they arrived at the city Lex was concerned about the state of it.
"What did you do here? what's going on?" Lex asked the droids, but only got silence. Lex was then carried off of the boat and stood up on his feet on the ground, by the droids.
"Your armor should reboot in time for the battle, the details will be explained to you soon." One of the droids said, before opening a portal and walking through along with the other droid.
"Wait! What battle!?" Lex called after the droids, but they were gone in an instant. 'This is all very strange' Lex thought to himself. 'Once my suit reboots, I need to figure out where I am and what is happening here.' Just then a dome went over the city and a giant screen carried by four droids flew into the middle of the city and provided Lex with a lot of information. Once it was finished, Lex saw that his suit was back online. He then flew up as far as he could until he hit the dome, and fell on top of a nearby building. "Guess there's no way I can get through that myself." Lex said to himself while getting up. He then saw a huge battle happening all over the city. 'This is really bad' Lex thought to himself. Before he could think of what to do next, a version of the Green Goblin threw a pumpkin bomb at him. Lex flew out of the way, and used one of the blasters on his arm to knock the Goblin out of the sky. The glider the Goblin was flying on then crashed into a nearby building, while he fell to the ground. 'I don't want to kill anyone, but I have to if I stay out in the open for too long.' Lex thought to himself. He then flew to the ground and tried to sneak around the city the best he could. There were some close calls with people and debris almost falling on top of him, and almost being spotted a few times. Lex then found an empty clothing store in a part of the city with less fighting going on. "This is crazy!" Lex said to himself while sitting down. "I need to find the guy in charge of all of this, and stop him. If I can even find him." Just then a version of wolverine jumped through the window, with his claws out.
"Sorry about this, but I don't have another choice." Wolverine said running towards Lex. Lex tried to shoot Wolverine with his blasters, but he kept getting back up after each shot. Wolverine then tried to stab Lex in the head, but Lex activated his helmet just in time, protecting him from the attack. After that Wolverine was pulled back by a grappling hook that was just attached to his back. He was then pulled through the window, outside where two exploding batarangs were thrown at him. They blew up in his face and knocked him into the building across the street. Then a man in a black armored suit with a red utility belt, a red cape, a red bat symbol on his chest, and a black helmet with pointy ears, walked into the store towards Lex. The man then took off his helmet.
"Bruce?" Lex asked, recognizing him.
