Chapter 1
“Gate A14, Flight 1849 to Kyoshi Island, will be boarding in 20 minutes!”
Bolin put the microphone down and checked the system for any new updates, it was a full flight. Mako and Asami, both in their Avatar Airline attire, waited for the Ramp Agent to give them a check to come inside the plane.
“I can’t believe that you guys actually got scheduled on the same flight!” The green-eyed man exclaimed
“I know right, I feel like it’s been so long since we’ve all been together in one place.” Asami took a sip of her coffee while the two brothers continued their conversation. A smile appeared on her face when she recognized one of the pilots coming towards her. She opened her arms for a hug.
“There’s my best friend! Finally a pilot!” The two women embraced, and Korra let out a chuckle.
“I still can’t believe it, I was certain I wasn’t going to pass the test with my injuries,” Korra sighed and slid a hand through her hair. She had finally gotten the job that she wanted at Avatar Airlines. All of her friends worked there and ever since she was little she dreamt of becoming a pilot. Her uniform was white and navy blue, her shoulder pads had three lines. The thought made her wonder who she would be flying with. Maybe she should have checked…
Bolin’s voice took Korra out of her thoughts as he pointed to someone coming towards them. “There she is! Looks like we’re done waiting!” Bolin left his place and went to give the older woman a handshake. Korra’s eyes widened once she could see the woman’s face,
Bolin continued talking about how she worked with him when he worked for Empire Airlines and how she decided to move to Avatar Airlines for the better pay. As everyone else listened and introduced themselves, Korra was left dumbstruck. The woman was about an inch taller than Korra, she had coal black hair that was tied into a bun, a jawline that could cut through diamonds, and fern green eyes that pierced right through you. Korra gulped as the woman turned to face her.
“And I assume you’re the pilot I’ll be flying with? Korra, right?” The woman stuck her hand out for a handshake.
Korra stood in place until Asami nudged her side. She nodded and received the woman’s handshake. “Yes, yes that’s me, and our name? I didn’t catch it earlier.” The older woman smirked and Korra swore that she would melt on the spot.
“You can call me Kuvira.”
Suddenly the door to the jetbridge opened and they were all given permission to come inside. Korra followed behind everyone else and nodded to Bolin as she headed inside.
She was most definitely screwed.
