an iconic trio: kate, maya, and yelena!

I literally squeal every time I think of them being friends cuz it's like the best thing ever to me and I love all of them so much with everything I have in me.

So basically, Kate’s just chilling after the events of Hawkeye, fighting crime when she’s not writing an essay for one of her college classes. Things are as normal as they can be for someone like her. 

Then Yelena texts her. Kate’s not even sure how the woman got her number, but she’s not exactly mad about it. They go out for drinks the way Yelena said they would (and the way Kate kind of hoped they would). 

Then it becomes a (every other) weekly occurrence. Yelena will text her, asking for drinks, and Kate will go meet her at a bar. They’ll either sit in silence (which is VERY hard for Kate) or Yelena will ask Kate how her life is going (sarcastically) and Kate will spiral into a long talk about her classes and Hawkeye business. Then she’ll beg Yelena to share at least one detail about herself and most of the time Yelena will be all cryptic about it and go “that’s classified” to piss Kate off.

It goes this way for several months until one night they go to get drinks, Yelena is clearly way less interested than usual. Kate would ask what’s wrong if she knew that Yelena would actually tell her, so instead she awkwardly asks if Yelena wants to go back to her shitty apartment for a girls night of sorts. 

Then Yelena starts showing up at her place, unprovoked. Yelena starts to bring snacks and Kate starts to keep a list of movies Yelena’s never watched. Yelena stops randomly showing up in her apartment and starts knocking.

In natural Yelena fashion, she goes off the grid for a month or two and comes back with an injured Maya who didn’t know Yelena was taking her to Kate’s place. 

Of course Kate has to help, and after their last encounter she can’t help but run her mouth and apologize for all the fighting (the events of Hawkeye and stuff) and amidst the yapping, she invites Maya to her and Yelena’s girl’s nights. Maya acts like she’s not that interested but of course, ends up tagging along with Yelena.
