Frayed Strings

Recap: “I hate it when he does that.” Khonshu mumbled to himself in disappointment as he shook his skull, he was just about to leave as well, to keep an eye on Steven as he served the suit when all of a sudden, a familiar cloud of red and turquoise smoke appeared in Steven’s flat. Khonshu exclaimed in worry,

“No no no, anyone but her right now!”

Back to the present:

“KHONSHU, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK DID YOU DO?!” Hathor roared as soon as she fully appeared in the moonboys flat as the smoke dispersed. Her tail flicking angrily behind her as she paced in the small space, causing several books to fall off of Steven’s shelves, clattering loudly to the wooden floor below as she glared at Khonshu.

Khonshu raised up his hands in defense as he shifted nervously, “Why, whatever do you mean Hathor? I was just about to go keep an eye on my avatar while he’s on patrol.” Khonshu said innocently, hoping that his past actions weren’t catching up right now.

Hathor’s eye twitched, “What do you mean, WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!”, she screeched as she whipped her head around to stare down Khonshu, her golden dress swishing around her and sparkling in the low light of the moonlit flat. Without another word she grabbed Khonshu’s staff that was leaning against the wall and flicked it around, pinning his neck against the wall with the moon crescent end, effectively trapping him for the time being. “You touched the strings of fate in my realm! You changed the fates for your own selfish needs you BASTARD!

I did no such thing! I have no time for any of your lovey dovey nonsense. I’m trying to protect this plane while you play matchmaker!” Khonshu replied incredulously as he tried to pry the crescent away from his neck, while he snapped his beak at Hathor and stomped his foot like a child whose favorite toy was about to be taken away.

I KNOW what you did.” Hathor hissed and her eyes glowed in pure, unbridled anger as her magic unstably sparked off of her, scorching several things around the flat, yet luckily not hitting the books as to not start a fire. Khonshu attempted to protest once more but shut his beak when he saw her magic sparking. Without another word Hathor gripped him harshly by his beak as her magic swirled around, engulfing the two of them in a smog of turquoise and red as she teleported the both of them to her realm.

While Khonshu’s realm consisted of always being the dead of night ushered in silence, alongside light by the silverly glow of the moon and stars. Hathor’s realm was full of life thriving everywhere and existing in the truest form, love.

Hathor’s realm appeared almost never ending, filled with music always softly playing in the distance, and always set at sun, but what was most breathtaking it was filled with rows upon rows upon rows of soul strings. The strings all emitted a shimmering golden glow similar to Hathor’s dress, each one tied together with their fated soulmate, pulsing and glowing brighter when their thoughts slipped through to one another, strengthening the bond.

Hathor dragged Khonshu through the glowing fields by his beak, pushing down old bittersweet memories from eons ago when she used to play her music for him, before his betrayals to her and the rest of the gods. Khonshu let out disgruntled squawks through his forcefully closed beak, trying to get a hold in the ground below with his talons but utterly failing as Hathor kept plowing along. After a long walk Hathor eventually stopped and let go of Khonshu’s beak with one last painful squeeze before half throwing him to the ground. Khonshu got off the ground, his white suit now stained from the fall as he shook his head, trying to make his beak feel back to normal.

“Come n-n-now Hathor, we used to be f-f-friends, I didn’t think you’d mind me visiting your realm” Khonshu tried to explain now that his beak was free, and he could talk again.

“That was EONS past you bird brain!” Hathor spat out in anger, “you haven’t been permitted in there even since you got kicked out of the council!” She yelled sounding hurt as her bovine ears and tail flicked back.

“Just look at the damaged you have caused.” Hathor said as she clutched a hand to her chest looking pained as she knelt down to one of the soul string connections in the field. She knelt down in front of the connection between you, Steven, Marc and Jake, it standing out without the sea of soul strings. The three moonboys shared a string that was as silver and bright as the moon in a starless sky, due to being the avatar of Khonshu theirs wasn’t a typical gold. Yours while gold shined brighter than every others in the field, being one of the brightest strings ever seen in Hathor’s existence, showing off your big heart that was filled to the brim with love and kindness. Soul strings always met each other halfway and were tied together……..but yours. Your soul string looked like it had been hacked off and discarded away from your tie with the fists of Khonshu, as another was messily tied in its place belonging to nonother than, Layla El-Faouly.
