The beginning

Peter can’t remember the last time he went on patrol by himself. Ever since Wade promised to stop killing people, he has been joining Peter’s patrols. As soon as the spider themed hero is spotted in New York it won't take long for the ex-mercenary to appear close behind.

It was as if Wade was a puppy, blindly following Spider-man around and trying to get his attention. Peter had to admit he thought it was cute at times, although it did also get annoying.

Wade had a tendency of appearing while Peter was trying to find his way home, almost exposing where he lived. It wasn’t really his fault, though it was starting to make him anxious every time he leaves and enters his apartment. He was unsure if deadpool was doing it on purpose or not. Wade could already know who Spider-man was and where he lived and was trying to throw hints.

Though it was unfair to expect this of him. They both had a silent pact to stay out of each other's personal lives, even though Wade occasionally joked that they should meet up and go out.

“Oh come on, Webs! I’m not a mercenary anymore and I haven’t killed anyone in like a month!” Deadpool whined after catching up to Spider-man, who was holding a criminal up against the alleyway’s wall.

“Two weeks.”

“So? Okay listen murder is like McDonald’s, you are supposed to only have it every now and then! (Even though most people don’t care about that.) Every two weeks is a healthy dosage.”

“Wade.” Peter puts two fingers up to his nose bridge, he knew that this was just playful banter and Wade was most likely just pressing his buttons, but it was still working.

“Okay okay!” Wade lifted up his hands in surrender, a cheeky smirk appearing behind his mask. “Don’t knock it ‘till you try it.”

“You do know that most people aren’t serial killers right?” Spider-man sighs, letting go of the robber that he was holding up against a wall. The robber fell to the ground and Peter swiftly webbed him to the wall for the police to deal with.

“You know I'm all up for poses like that too, Baby.” Wade winked.

Peter rolled his eyes and scoffed, outstretching an arm and swinging himself up above the buildings.

He landed on a roof atop a small office building, sitting down on the edge knowing Wade won’t be far behind.

“Well that’s one way of friend-zoning someone! Youch!!!” Wade staggered up to Peter, pretending that he was shot in the heart.

“So dramatic.” Peter smiled beneath the mask as Wade sat down next to him.

The night was loud and cold, the sounds of parties and police cars going past filling the otherwise silent air. The lights from the city stealing Peter’s breath away. No matter how many times he sits here the view is always beautiful. Wade nudged Peter's leg with his and handed him a taco.

“Where’d you get that?” Peter asked.

“I have a secret fridge on one of the rooftops nearby. Don’t worry, I restocked it yesterday, the taco is fresh.”

They sat in silence for a while, which was always a nice change. As much as Peter (secretly) enjoyed Wade's nonsense rambling, sitting with him in silence was almost just as good. They silently ate together, the whole thing feeling so tranquil compared to their usual hangouts.

Wade's leg was still brushed up against Peter’s, and he felt the warmth emitting from it calming. Without thinking he leaned his head on Wade’s shoulder. He knew he should sit up again but he didn’t want to ruin the moment.

He felt Wade tense in shock of the sudden intimacy, though he relaxed just as quickly.

Peter knew he needed to leave, he had things to do in the morning but he couldn’t bring himself to get up. How touch starved was he that he settled with Wade? Deadpool, the merc with a mouth.

Wade was warm compared to the cold of the night. Peter closed his eyes, knowing this was a mistake though his built up lack of sleep had finally caught up to him and he drifted off.

Peter awoke on that same rooftop, lying alone on a makeshift bed made of pillows and blankets. He sat up and looked around. His muscles were stiff, most likely from the pillow-bed. Wade must have made the bed for him after he fell asleep.

Peter felt warmth and butterflies stirr in his stomach. Wade was such a strange character. He could’ve just woken him up but he didn’t. Peter wondered how long they had stayed like that before the makeshift bed was built.

Peter sighed, he really had to get up. It looked around 8 and he had an exam at 11. Peter got up and swung over to his apartment, hiding in an alley for a while before climbing up into his apartment window between two buildings.

He quickly changed and got out the door, catching a bus to his campus.

Peter walked into his college, the hustle and bustle of the school reminded him of how unimportant Peter was compared to Spider-man. Though, sometimes that thought was soothing. That he could be a semi-normal person after his exciting nights as the hero.

His exam wasn’t for a while so he walked to a café and ordered a coffee, sitting down in one of the booths since it was relatively (surprisingly)
empty. Pulling out his laptop, he began to study.

The morning was going normally until someone in a grey hood walked in. It wouldn’t have caught Peter’s attention if it weren’t for the soft pang in the back of his neck from his spider-sense.

Peter eyed the man carefully as he walked into the shop. Could be a petty criminal trying to steal cash from the till, or someone meeting up to sell drugs. Either way, the man whispered something to the lady at the counter. She handed him something wrapped up and he swiftly hid it in his pocket and left.

Peter narrowed his eyes and packed up his stuff before heading out after him, still feeling the gentle ebb of danger as he walked away.

He followed him around to a hidden area between two class buildings where he climbed up onto the roof for a better look. Soon after came the sound of approaching footsteps. Peter heard the thump of heavy duty boots as another hooded man rounded the corner.

He stood tall and broad against the other, towering over him menacingly. This was clearly not just an average drug deal, though it confused Peter why they were doing this here.

“Hey babe. You got it?” The tall man asked, his voice was somewhat cheeky as he spoke.

The smaller man nodded and handed him the packed thing that the cashier gave him, the taller man weighing it slightly in his hand before pocketing it.

“Good. You sure this’ll work?”

“It should, I made sure we got the best professor to develop it. If there’s any problems I can send it back in for a reevaluation.” The smaller man’s voice seemed confident and cocky, like he was sure whatever he’d ordered to be made would work.

“If it doesn’t work it’s not the only thing going to be reevaluated.” The tall man’s voice deepened and became serious, sending an obvious shiver down the other’s spine. This clearly appeased him as he stood up straighter and spoke again, with a more cheerful tone. “Whelp! See you (hopefully) never.”

Peter sighed as he found his way to the ground again. Just his luck to find out about a random illegal trade deal happening at his school just before an exam. Hopefully he can just focus on the test until afterwards.

Peter swung over to his usual meeting place with Wade, where he was already seated. He smiled slightly under his mask at the way Deadpool straightened up and waved when he saw the spider-hero come up to him. Wade offered him a burrito before turning to the city again.

“So are we gonna talk about yesterday, webs?” Wade grinned widely as he spoke with his mouth full of mexican.

“What about?” Peter played dumb, frankly he was half embarrassed about it and didn’t want to talk about it.

“Do you not get enough sleep baby boy? If you need a more comfortable bed, my house has a spare room with a very nice bed.”

“I have no clue what you’re talking about Deadpool.” Peter said airily, swinging his feet over the edge of the building.

“Webs, you fell asleep on my shoulder. My shoulder! Clearly you were exhausted as hell to fall asleep where I could have easily peeked under your mask.”

Peter’s blood ran cold and his smile dropped. He hadn’t even considered that. How foolish could he be? Did he really lose all his common sense?

“You didn’t do that though… right?” Peter’s voice cracked against his wishes.

Wade’s smile dropped as well at this. “What? Oh no, I was just joking. I wouldn’t.” He turned his head to the side and muttered sternly to himself, “no we wouldn’t. That’s why I didn’t.”

He turned back to face Peter and the two of them sat silently for a while, before Peter spoke up again.

“Well I found out about a shifty trade deal today.” He said awkwardly.

Wade hummed a signal for Peter to continue, sitting up a little.

“Well, I felt my spider-sense while I was at college today and found this guy who was giving someone a wrapped up thingy ma-bob he said was created by the professors there,” Peter tipped his head as he played with the burrito. “I hope they come back because I want to find out more. It seemed really sketchy and bad.”

Deadpool sat there still for a second before stretching and standing up. “Well maybe we can find them on patrol tonight. Ready?”
Peter nodded and stood up before swinging away with Deadpool on his tracks.

They stopped a few muggings and a fight, so it was a pretty successful night before the two split up and went home.

When Peter slept tonight he dreamt of him and Wade eating chimichangas on the rooftops.
