“Buck, you know it's time for you to get out there again.” “Why can’t you just leave it alone.” Buck said, writing down information on a chart.
“Because it's been 3 years since, you know what happened, it's time to get back out there.” Buck was about to say something when his pager went off.
“9.1.1 in the pit, bye Taylor.”
“This isn’t over, you know that,” Taylor shouted down the hallway as Buck ran off.
—
“What do we have?” Buck asked the nurse. “Thirty year-old male with a third degree burn on the left side of his body, a crash injury to the right leg, and a minor head injury.”
“What the hell happened to this guy?” Buck asked, taking him from the firefighters. “Building collapsed on him while it was still on fire.”
“Wow, ok.”
“Let's get this guy into trauma 1 and have the other rooms prepped for more paitents . Also page Taylor, and get an OR set up.”Buck said, pushing the firefighters to the side to take the patients from them.
“Let's push one EP” Buck said, flipping through the chart.
“Buck, why’d you page me?” Taylor questioned, stepping into the room. “Crash injury and there’s internal bleeding we need to get him up into the OR like, now.” “ Ok, then what are we doing standing here?” With that we're rushing to the OR to save this guy’s life.
—
“So who was that guy?” Eddie asks. “That was Buck, he was a part of the 118 before he became a trauma surgeon.” Hen answered.
“Oh, why did he leave?” Eddie questioned. “Ummm. So what do you have planned for your day off?” Hen asks Eddie, not answering his question.
“Just spending the day with Chris.” Eddie answers fidgeting with his hands, when suddenly he touches a part of his hand that got burned, probably from something at the scene.
He tries to hold back a hiss from touching it, but doesn’t succeed letting out a quiet, ”Oww.”
Hen looks over from the road noticing the burn, “When did that happen?” Hen asks, concerned.
“I don't know, it probably happened during the call.” Eddie replies. “Well you need to get that checked out you know, right?” Hen tells Eddie.
“It's fine, I don't need to get it checked out Hen.” Eddie replies. “Yes, you do, it's a policy. You can’t work ‘till you get the all clear Eddie. It's a burn, if you don’t I can just tell Bobby. So which do you prefer?” Hen states.
“Fine…” Eddie says. Hen then makes a u-turn back to the hospital.
—
"Well that was exhausting.” Buck says lying against the nurses counter. “That was exhausting, and not like the three mile running you do everyday.” Taylor said, mocking him.
“Yes it very much was.”
“So Taylor, have you been able to get ‘Sir,I don’t need no one,’ set up a date yet?” Zach said, sitting at the computer.
“No I haven’t but just wait and see, it will happen eventually.”
“Yeah right,” Zach clapped back.
“Um, Doc? Buckley, bed number two is ready to see you.” A nurse said, handing him the chart. “So it says here you have a burn on your hand,” Buck says, pulling the curtain open.
“Yeah, and he thought it was best not to get it checked out.” says a familiar voice. “Wait, I know that voice. What are you doing here?”
“Making sure this idiot gets his hand checked out, before going back to the station.” Hen says, swatting Eddie on the top of his head.
“It's not even that bad Hen,” Eddie commented.
“Yeah, then why do you say ‘ow’ when someone touches it?” Hen says, reaching for his hand. Eddie scoots away from her, almost falling off, having to use his hurt hand to catch himself.
“Hen, don't make the poor guy hurt himself more.” Buck said, looking at the guy's hand.
“It doesn’t look that bad, I’ll just have to put some burn cream on it and wrap it. I’ll be right back with that stuff, in the meantime try not to kill him Hen.”
“So who was in bed number two?” Zach said, coming from the back of the store closet.
“Just Hen and their new guy.” Buck said, grabbing the stuff he needs.
“Is he cute?”
“Really, you too?” Buck groaned, “And no he’s not, and if he was I still wouldn’t go out with him.”
“You say that now, just wait, you'll regret it later.” Zach shouts at Buck as he walks away.
—
“Ok, so just put this stuff on twice a day and come back in five days to get it checked again.” Buck said, handing the guy the ointment.
“And Hen, will you tell everyone I say ‘Hi’? Also ask Bobby to text me what I should bring to the BBQ this weekend will ya?”
“Of course, but you know Bobby’s just going to say ‘Bring yourself, Zach, and Taylor with ya’, right?” Hen said looking at the two friends behind Buck.
“I know, but it doesn’t hurt to ask, right?” Buck shrugged.
“Not at all. I’ll see you at the BBQ, and you two idiots back there as well.” Hen said, yelling that last bit.
“We wouldn’t miss it for the world.” Zach and Taylor shouted back. “Ok bye you two and Hen, make sure he takes care of the burn.”
