Chapter 2
“I will tell you now that I have only done this with two other people.” Agatha said.
“How are you going to do this without magic?” Billy asked.
“I don’t need magic per se For this.” She said, conveniently leaving out the how. She would not say that the other people she has done this for was her son Nicky and Rio. She would not say that this is one of the most intimate things a witch could do. She would not say what this spell was originally designed for. At least not yet.
“This ritual is only performed by a spirit witch for herself or for others” Agatha said as she took a deep breath.
“Ok what do we do?” Billy asked.
“We sit down for now.”
“ we are going to need to cut our palms and then hold them together to exchange blood. Then I will enter your soul and bring a piece back and bond it to mine. Then you need to carve a symbol of your choice above my heart and press a few drops of your blood into the carving. It’s as simple as that kid.” Agatha said to Billy.
“Will it hurt?” Billy asked.
“for you, No. Not in the slightest.” Agatha said with a small almost pensive smile.
“And this will help control my magic?” he asked.
“Yes. I will be able to feel it all the time and will be able to temper it if it gets to much for you.” Agatha said.
Agatha does not mention that she would be able to feel his emotions.
“how will we do the cuts, we don’t have a knife?”
“Yes we do, I swiped it from the first trial.” Agatha said as she took a small steak knife out of her pocket.
“of course you did.” Billy said exasperated.
Agatha set the knife down onto the ground and takes off her shirt followed by her bra.
“oh um uhh…” Billy mumbles out as a wave of awkwardness hits him.
“Focus Billy.”
Billy’s eyes are drawn to the area of Ware her heart is. Unfortunately for him that was on top of her breast. What stood out to him were two carvings already there. One was a bird and the other a leaf.
“Your carving will go here right below the other two. When I saw ‘Now’, you Will start carving.” Agatha said as she pointed to where he would make his mark.
Agatha picked up the knife and sliced her palm then handed it to Billy who did the same. The two grabbed hands and Agatha closed her eyes.
Agatha took a deep breath and began. She had to be open with her feelings for this to work. Something she was not good at anymore.
She felt a flick of something…There! She found his soul. Now all she had to do was touch and convince it to part with a part of itself. That would be the hard part.
She reached out a touched it. It was beautiful. This little soul. This soul that was only three years old. It’s so young. She could feel his hope, his fear, his love. His so was so innocent without corruption.
It was time to convince the soul. She opened herself up. Something she hasn’t done since Nicky passed. She felt her, her grief rise up and just felt it. She cried. For the first time in centuries, she let herself feel and cry.
On the outside Billy could see Agatha start to cry and the crying turned to sobs. He watched silently and tears began streaming down his eyes as he realized he couldn’t do anything.
Agatha felt warmth come from Billy’s soul. It started to pulse. A bit started to try and reach out to her. It kept stretching until it broke off and wrapped itself around Agatha enveloping her in warmth and trust.
This was it. She’s got it. A piece of Billy’s soul. She turned around and headed toward a purple fog.
“Now Billy!” Agatha commanded.
Billy picked up the knife and started to carve into Agatha’s breast. He chose a pentacle as his symbol. Agatha was quiet as he carved. Not a single whimper. Once he made the last stroke, he took his cut hand and squeezed it so that a few drops fell out into the carving he just made. Right away a feeling washed over him and he felt warmth. So much warmth like an endless hug. He collapsed in Agatha’s arms and just finally felt safe from his own magic.
Agatha felt this new tiny soul around hers. It felt beautiful. Amazing that she was giving this chance to care for something, someone so special. It was now hers to care for.
Agatha wrapped her arms around Billy, completely ignoring all the blood on them and they just sat like that basking in the newly found warmth of there souls.
