Beacon Academy, the very best of the four best schools for the musically gifted. Only the best of the best can even be considered for it. To be enrolled was a dream come true for Ruby, she was even able to enroll two years early thanks to her performance as a replacement guitarist in one of her friend’s bands at her previous school talent show.
Ruby smiled proudly as she gripped the strap to her backpack that held her beautiful crimson red electric guitar name Crescent Rose. She smiled brightly as she looked at the main gates of the school, she had made it, she was ready. She was dressed in her favorite Red Roses band shirt, blue jeans and black boots. She was… stiff as a statue as her older sister Yang groaned loudly, as she stood behind her. She was dressed in blue jeans, yellow t-shirt and a black jacket, pulling her scroll from her jacket pocket, and looked at her scroll. Her mirrored sunglasses reflected her Scroll contents.
“Ruby! You’ve been standing at the gate for the last half hour.. are you gonna go in or do I have to carry you?” Yang asked as she groaned. She was ready to
“Yang…” Ruby said with a smile, gripping the one strap of her backpack tighter. “I can’t move..” Yang rolled her eyes, grabbing ahold of Ruby’s shoulder and giving it a gentle shake. She turns Ruby around to face her.
“You got this Rubies, you know you do. I mean you got accepted two years early, to a school I had to work my ass off to get in. You’re extremely talented, don’t worry, ok?”
Ruby took a deep breath, as she turned back towards the school. “I am ready!” Ruby loudly screamed as she stiffly enter through the gates. She walked slowly as Yang watch, then shrugged and began to follow behind her. She knew Ruby nervous, but this was ridiculous.
“Rubies.. are you gonna walk like a robot all day? Or?” Yang softly questions as Ruby stopped her Robot like walk, and took a deep breath and soft exhale.
“Ok, ok I’m good, I’m ready.. let’s do this!” Ruby said loudly and began walking normally now, leaving Yang to snicker to herself quietly.
“Hey I’m gonna grab the rest of the stuff from the van! I’ll meet you at the dorm!” Yang yelled as she headed back to her van, Ruby didn’t even hear her as she kept walking. Stopping so she could Turn and show Yang how good she was doing only to see Yang was gone.
“Oh hell! Where did Yang go!?” Ruby starts digging into her pockets and finds her scroll, she knew she should have been paying attention but being bold wasn’t something easy for Ruby. At least without a guitar in hand, she also had no idea where to go. So she began fanatically dialing Yang's number. It starts ringing, then goes to get voice mail. “Ugh! Damn it Yang!” Ruby started typing a text as she began waking again, as she typed, Ruby was paying more to her scroll.
Just as she was about to send the text she bumped into something solid as she fell backwards and landed on her butt with a hard thug. “Ow! What the?” Ruby questioned as she looked to see what she hit, but it was a person Ruby ran into, just across from her, was a girl with Ice blue eyes, Snow White hair with a scar on her left eye and she was dressed in a powers blue skirt, white tank top and white denim jacket, shaking her fist.
“You clumsy dolt! Did you not see me waking here!!” The girl screamed, as Ruby hurriedly jumpped up and attempted to help the girl up but she smacked Ruby’s hand away. “Don’t you touch me!” She screamed as Ruby was shocked.
“What!? I was just trying to help you up, I bumped into you and I’m sorry! Geez!” Ruby screamed as the girl pulled herself up, dusting herself off.
“You better apologize! Do you know who I am?” She questioned as Ruby softly mumbled. “What was that?” She asked as Ruby angrily rolled her eyes.
“Nothing princess…” she girl nodded, giving Ruby a nasty side look.
“The name is Weiss Schnee, THE Weiss Schnee.” She said coldly. As Ruby rolled her eyes again, crossing her arms under her chest, sticking her tongue out at her.
“I don’t care who you are!” Weiss scoffed at Ruby’s statement.
“Of course you do!” Weiss snapped back. “I happen to be one of the top freshmen of this school!” Weiss said, as she bragged. Ruby rolled her eyes and started to walk away, “hey! Where the hell do you think you're going!?”
“Away from you!” Ruby shouted. As Weiss begain to follow her, Ruby stopped and turned back to face her. “What!? Why are you following me?”
“You think I’ll just let you walk away from me? You should show some respect!” Ruby couldn’t help but groan, letting her head drop, she sighed,
“If I show you respect, will you go away..?” Ruby questioned, as Weiss huffed.
“Go away? Pff! You should be asking to join your band, I am the top pick of the freshman class!” Ruby looked at Weiss very puzzled.
“My band? What do you mean by that?” Ruby asked as Weiss seemed shocked at Ruby’s question.
“Yes, your band. Every freshman must join, or start a band. Didn’t you know that? Did you skip orientation or something yesterday?” Weiss questioned, as well as mocked Ruby slightly, as Ruby count hear it in her tone.
“Y-yes! I knew that!” Ruby blushed angrily. Truth was she didn’t skip orientation, she and Yang just forgot to be there yesterday, but she wasn’t gonna tell Weiss that,
“Well….? Are you gonna ask me?” Weiss asked as Ruby took a deep breath got prepared.
“Would you like to join my band?” Ruby asked. As Weiss began to laugh, completely confusing Ruby. “Um… why are you laughing?”
“I wouldn’t join your band, even if it was the last one in Vale!” As Weiss continued to laugh, Ruby got so angry her face was turning red.
“Why did you ask me, to ask you then!?” Ruby screamed as Weiss just smirked at Ruby.
“Because, I wanted to see how desperate you were. I am the top pick of the freshman class after all.” Weiss flipped her hair as she turned so Ruby could only see her profile, as she began to pose. “I do not know, nor care who you are, but I will be the next queen of rock! The next Summer Rose! I will have a bigger band than STRQ n’ the dark.” Ruby felt her heart sink, as she gulped. Weiss was a fan of mother, for the last few years Ruby has been hiding the fact she’s Summer’s daughter, wanting instead to get things by her own hard work. Not by who her mother is.
Weiss continued to stare at Ruby, as Ruby began to freak out internally, “W-why S-Summer Rose…? T-there are other singers.” Ruby said as she then turned more pale in color then Weiss’ own hair.
Weiss just looked at Ruby dumbfounded, not noticing Ruby’s sudden change or her complexion going almost ghost white. “Why Summer Rose? Really? The greatest Rocker in the last twenty years? Quadruple platinum selling artist!” Ruby took a step back as Weiss took a step forward. “She’s the greatest, and I’m gonna be the next her. So I need the best band so it’s wh-“ Weiss stops as she finally takes notice of Ruby’s very pale complexion, then her Silver eyes. “Wait a second.. your eyes…” Ruby yelped as Weiss leaned in.
“O-oh.. look at the time! I gotta go! Ok bye!” Ruby screams as she races off leaving Weiss in the dust.
“Did.. did she have silver eyes?” Weiss questioned as she watched the trail of dust slowly fade away.
By the time Ruby stopped Running, she was panting softly. She wasn’t sure how far she had ran but she was relieved to have gotten away from Weiss, she breathed a sigh of relief as checked her scroll, nothing back from Yang. “Damn it…” Ruby sighed.
“Need some help?” A voice calls out from behind Ruby as she turns to face a woman with black hair and shiny yellow eyes, dressed in a purple dress shirt with a pair of black leather pants and boots and a set of cat ears on top of her head, with a Bass strapped to her back.
“Um.. w-who are you?” Ruby asked as the woman chuckled softly.
“That’s not what I expected you to ask, but my name is Blake kiddo. That’s a great looking guitar you have there.” Blake said as Ruby’s eyes lit up.
“Oh, thanks! Yeah it was a gift from my mom! I call it Crescent Rose.” Ruby quickly took her backpack off and set it down. As she swiftly pulled Crescent Rose out, as she proudly displayed it. Blake took note of it. Smiling as she looked at the craftsmanship.
“How’s it sound?” Blake asked as she pulled her own bass out.
“Oh? You wanna jam?” Ruby asked with smirk, to which Blake replied with her own smirk.
“I’d love to. We can even head over to the stage and set up, it's open for practicing, and I think It’d be fun.” Blake smiled as soon as Blake said that, Ruby got pumped. It had to the same stage from her moms days at Beacon.
“Yeah! Let’s go!” Ruby quickly grabbed Crescent Rose, as she and Blake made their way over to the stage. Blake walked over, jumping up onto the stage leaving Ruby in awe as she just stared at the stage. She pulled an old picture of her mom on the same stage from her pocket, holding it up she smiled. Blake watched Ruby as she did this.
“Hey, kid? What are you doing?” Blake asked as Ruby put the picture away.
“Nothing, you ready?” Ruby asked as she jumped up onto the stage. Setting her backpack down and pulling Crescent Rose out. Ruby got it set up, as Blake got ready. “Ok! 3,2-“ before Ruby could finish, Yang’s Voice rang out.
“RUBY!” She screamed as she walked over, pulling a dolly with her Drums. “Where do you get off! I was worried sick about you!” Yang screamed. Her attention is strictly on Ruby at this point.
“I didn’t know where you went! I texted you!” Ruby replied.
“No you didn’t!” Yang said. “I had to search around for you, why the hell are you even here? We are supposed to be at the dorm to set up our room.”
“Well after YOU left me behind, I ran into some stuck up princess, then I ran and after I ran into this super cool girl named Blake, and she wanted to jam so we came here.” Ruby replied.
“Blake? Who’s Blake?” Yang asked as Blake walked over and into Yang’s vision as her mouth dropped. “Whoa…”
“Whoa yourself, you looking to jam too?” Blake asked as Yang smiled and was more than happy to jump up on stage with Blake.
“Oh of course! Names Yang! Yang Xiao Long! Or you can call me Dragon of the Sticks!” Yang boasted as she flashed a cheesy grin, and winking at Blake.
“Ok Dragon of the Sticks, you can call me Blake. Blake belladonna, Queen of the Bass.” She winked as Yang softly blushed, doing her best to not panic externally, but internally she was going mad.
“Hey! Are we gonna jam or what?” Ruby angrily asked, she was fully prepared. Yang nodded, as Blake giggled. Yang tried to make it look like she jumped off stage, but she had probably been falling off more than likely, as she couldn’t get her eyes off Blake. She still made no waste of time setting her Drums up, once ready, Ruby looked at Yang, she nodded. Ruby then turned to Blake, who nodded. “Ok! Let’s jam!” Ruby screamed as she struck her first cord.
Ruby just began to rock, as she started moved, she skillfully played the guitar like a master, Blake began to do the, keeping an eye on Ruby’s movements, and mixed with Yang’s skillful drumming, it was music gold.
Weiss, who heard the music, was standing to the side watching, she watched Ruby’s movement closely. Ruby’s movements looked so familiar, Weiss was blown away, she watched Blake rock thr bass and Yang was showing the drums who was master, she felt so dumb for their previous encounter. Swallowing her pride she walked up to the trio. “Hey! Need a singer?” Weiss screams over the music as they stop playing to look at her.
“Um.. what?” Ruby asked, as Weiss climbed on to the stage. Blake and Yang watched as Weiss dusted herself off.
“I asked.. if you’d like a singer? For your band” Weiss said as Ruby was shocked, quickly looking away so Weiss didn't see her eyes, as she was reminded of before.
“Um… I thought I wasn’t good enough or something.” Ruby replied.
“Look, I’m sorry. You’re all really good. I’ve been looking for the right band.. and well.. I think this is it. Soo can I join?” Weiss asked, as Ruby sighed, she turned to Yang and Blake.
“If she can impress me, sure.” Yang said.
“Well let’s hear her pipes, we should have a singer, so let’s go.” Blake said with a soft smile. Ruby turned back to Weiss.
“Grab a mic and let’s go.” Ruby said as she got ready, Weiss set up the mic.
“Testing. 1,2,3” Weiss says as she gives the mic a light tap. “Ok, we are set. Girls, let’s start.” Weiss says as Ruby and Blake get to work on their Part, Yang begins rocking the Drums.”

Ruby was bobbing her head, Weiss’ voice was definitely top notch, Blake and Yang too were impressed.

As the four were going hard, the sounds started to travel as some other students all began to the stage to investigate.

Headmaster Ozpin even joined as he watched the four girls, the complete synchronization from only just meeting from what he assumed, already pelting out such a skillful cover.

Weiss even did the finger gun motion at the end. They were in the zone, but Weiss couldn’t keep her eyes off Ruby, her movements, she knew them from somewhere, and her silver eyes. She just focused on the song.

As Weiss belted out the last lines with Ruby, Weiss dropped the mic as applauded erupted out, as the four now took notice of all the spectators they had.
“Whoa… we must have been jamming. I didn’t notice anyone” Yang said, as Blake nodded in agreement, Ruby though couldn’t stop grinning ear to ear. She couldn’t help it, she loved it, this was too much in her blood to fight.
“Thank you! Thank you!” Ruby said in her mic as they noticed Headmaster Ozpin walk up to them. He was clapping.
“Oh headmaster Ozpin! How are you doing sir?” Weiss was quick to ask.
“Splendid Miss Schnee, and I must say, excellent work girls! I assume you four are going to be a band?” Ozpin asked as they all looked at one another.
“Well, I’m gonna stick with my sister no matter what, and I think my drums compliment Blake’s bass and Weiss definitely got some pipes.” Yang said.
“I agree with Yang, we do click, and Ruby herself has great chemistry with Weiss’ vocals, mix in her guitar skills and I think it’s a winning combination.” Blake happily said.
Weiss sighed, “ill admit.. I didn’t expect Ruby to be as good as she was, and I definitely think Yang and Blake are great at what they do. I’ll definitely stay with them.” Weiss said proudly, not just because they did will, but it was because no one knew she had no idea who Yang or Blake were till just a bit ago and didn’t wanna seem like a jerk.
Ozpin turns to Ruby as he smiles, as a flashback from year’s past made him take a second look, as to not see Ruby’s mother but to see Ruby. “Well Ruby? What do you think?”
“I think this will definitely work. Weiss, Blake and Yang compliment me well, and I can see being a band.” Ruby says happily, as ozpin smiled and pulled out his scroll.
“What’s your band name?” Ozpin then asked as he prepared to type it in. Ruby looked over to Weiss, Blake and Yang. Who all shrugged. Ruby panicked abit, then it hit her. Ruby turned to Ozpin with a smile.
“RWBY and the Huntresses!”
Author note; ok! So I’m hoping I left this one at a good point, I really hope you like it. First chapters are always kinda hard for me to set up, I was trying to keep from referring to Ruby’s last name but I don’t think Ruby Xiao Long sounds good lol, but Summer is a famous rocker, “think more like Joan Jett and Kiss. She is alive in the AU. Just currently on tour. We will get more lore and look into this AU world as I go on!
