Camp Half-Blood
Summer for demigods are usually spent in camp half-blood. Away from the dangers of the real world. Kim Taehyung had been going to this very camp since the summer of his 7th birthday. His mother had appeared one day, saying that the camp will be able to provide more helpful training, and protection as summer is the most dangerous month for demi-gods.
Children stayed in different cabins depending on their godly parents. However there are only 12 cabins residing in this very camp, children who's parents are not among the main 12 mostly stay with the children of Hermes. Taehyung was one of these children.
The son of the powerful goddess of magic, Hecate. You would think that this powerful goddess would be seen as one of the main 12, but she wasn't. She was regarded as a minor goddess, something that angered her greatly.
Taehyung didn't care. However there was some times where he admits he feels a bit inferior, which he scolded himself for. He winced as a loud shout came from nearby.
"Tae!" A blonde haired girl ran into the cabin with a big smile. His childhood friend, Lisa, a child of Hermes and a protege of his aunt Yeaji. She was a cheeky child, which made everyone else understand immediately why the both of them were best friends.
"Dionysus says that we will be having a capture the flag tomorrow before everyone sets off on their quests!" Lisa exclaimed excitedly. The first week of the summer had gone by and prophesies had started to be told. In two days, the first batch would be leaving to fulfill their respective missions.
Taehyung himself was given a quest along with Lisa and Adin, a boy from the Aphrodite cabin. They are supposed to go to Mexico to retrieve some dagger.
"Did you come up with a plan already?" He grinned at his best friend, who in turn grinned back.
"Of course, who do you think I am?" Lisa smugly tilted her head higher.
"Don't cause too much trouble the both of you." Jennie, Lisa's definitely-just-a-friend and the current oracle, shook her head as she approached them.
"Us, causing trouble?" Lisa tilted her head.
"Never." Taehyung shook his head.
"Aish, what will I do with the both of you. Come on, it's dinner time." Taehyung and Lisa shared twin grins before following the other girl out.
The dining pavilion was filled with laughter and chatter by the time they got there. Taehyung much preferred this scene than the parties he had to attend back in Gotham. A boy with a big bright smile waved at the trio from a table.
"Taehyungie! Lisa! Jennie! Over here!" He shouted. The boy was Hoseok, or Hobi for short, son of Apollo and one of Taehyung's closest friends. The trio walked towards the table where three respective seats were saved for them. Lisa and Jennie took the two seats in front of other two girls.
One had reddish blonde hair and a kind smile on her face. Rose, the daughter of Demeter. The girl next to her can make mortals fall to their knees from her beauty. Jisoo, daughter of Aphrodite.
Meanwhile Taehyung was saved a seat in front of a tired but also cool looking older boy. Yoongi, the son of Hades, and someone Taehyung sees as an older brother. Next to Yoongi was a somewhat stern looking boy, Namjoon, son of Athena. In front of Namjoon and on the right of Taehyung, was a boy with an ethereal appearance, Jason's half brother and son of Aphrodite, Seojin. On the other side of Yoongi was a pretty boy with kind eyes and flowers on his hair, Jimin, Taehyung's platonic soulmate, son of Demeter and Rose's brother.
And finally, in front of Jimin and on the left of Taehyung, was the 'golden boy' of the camp. Despite being the youngest, he was more muscular than the rest of the group, he had the most beautiful smile Taehyung had ever seen which he offered to Taehyung as he sat down. The son of one of the big three Zeus, Jeon Jungkook.
"Late again Taetae?" Jimin teased.
"Of course, the best dressed is always late." Tae winked at his platonic soulmate.
"Whatever you say." Jimin laughed.
"So capture the flag is tomorrow isn't it? Does anyone know the teams?" Yoongi asked.
"I heard it was you and Apollo, Hermes and Athena's cabins versus the rest." Jin said.
"Aw man, guess I can't be with you kookie." Tae pouted.
"Maybe I'll betray my team for you." Jungkook grinned.
"You'd do that for me?" Tae said grinning after noticing their friends cringing
"I'd do anything for you Tae." Tae swore that his heart definitely did not just miss a beat. Who was he kidding it definitely did.
"Okay both of you stop flirting. At least not during dinner." Yoongi glared, not angrily though.
"And we are the same team Kook, I am not losing to Tae again in capture the flag!" Jimin shook his head. "His head got big enough after the last win." He added as a joke.
"Minnie!" Taehyung acted offended.
"I'll be watching Kook like a hawk with Jin-hyung." Jimin announced. "So you both better not do any funny business."
"Funny business? What is that supposed to mean?" Jungkook raised his eyebrows with a smirk.
"Oh you know what I mean." Jimin smirked back.
Taehyung had noticed Jungkook and Jimin had gotten closer after being given the same quest last summer. Sometimes he thinks that something happened between the two...romantically...during the quest...but it was just a fleeting thought.
He turned to Jin and pouted. "Jinnie Hyung~"
"I'm going to kick your groups ass tomorrow."
"...nevermind." Taehyung acted scared, making the group laugh. They continued their conversations while eating making Taehyung think once again how it was much better than the dinner parties back in Gotham
"Jennie!" Lisa's alarmed shout made Taehyung turn to the other girl.
Pink smoke was coming out of Jennie's mouth and her eyes were entirely black. She then spoke in a echoed voice.
"Jeon Jungkook, you must set off on a mission, to complete an expedition.
Eyes that can turn humans into stone has returned, with snakes that concerned.
Defeat her once more, before she can roar.
Do not let her get to her goal, for she was given a role.
Behind her is a bigger threat, someone else will get.
You must stop her, for he has awoken from his slumber."
Jennie dropped to the ground after saying the last word and Lisa speedily caught her before she hit her head.
"Stone...snakes...it must be about Medusa!" Hobi gasped.
"But didn't she die years ago? How did she return?" Jin frowned.
"It doesn't matter." Dionysus approached the group with a grim face. "For now you will go on the mission with three others to stop her Jonkok. And find out as much as you can about this 'hidden threat'."
Jungkook nodded in agreement.
"Who will you bring with you?" Rose asked. Jungkook turned to Taehyung who frowned. He wished he could join but he already had a quest. Jungkook seemed to realize as well.
"Then...I'll choose Jimin and Namjoon-hyung." Jungkook announced.
Namjoon nodded and looked calm but Taehyung could tell the older was delighted. Jimin showed his delight more openly and squealed happily. He hugged Jungkook as he excitedly thanked the other boy for choosing him. Taehyung would be lying if he said he didn't feel jealous at all, but he pushed those thoughts away and congratulated the group for their quest.
At the corner of his eye, he noticed Dionysus frowning. Taehyung suddenly thought of the words in the prophesy and frowned as well. A new bigger threat? His gut is telling him that something bad was going to happen soon.
His mind was filled with the words of the prophecy that he didn't even realize the time until Jungkook said goodnight to him.
"A penny for your thoughts?" Jungkook grinned at him.
"Sorry, I was too absorbed into figuring something out." Taehyung sheepishly admitted to which Jungkook laughed.
"I don't mind." Jungkook smiled as he thoughtfully hummed. "Worried about me?"
"As if." Taehyung teasingly rolled his eyes. "Nah I'm just kidding of course I am, Medusa's no normal foe."
"True. Don't worry, I'll definitely come back safe." Jungkook said to him confidently.
"I have no doubt about that." Taehyung nudged the other's arm. "Medusa is no match for the golden boy."
"Exactly!" Jungkook nodded in agreement. They both shared a laugh and joked around until they reached the Hermes cabin.
"Goodnight Taehyungie." Jungkook gave him a smile.
"Night Kookie." Taehyung smiled back and watched as Jungkook left to go to his own cabin. As the son of the almighty Zeus, Jungkook had a whole cabin to himself. 'Respect that we deserve will never be given to us from the people that have never stood in our shoes.' his mother's words echoed in his head. He shook it off and started to go in the Hermes cabin when he heard voices not far from him.
"I mean it make sense that Jungkook chose Namjoon because his brains would be helpful against someone like Medusa. But Jimin's isn't very powerful, I wonder why Jungkook chose him." Taehyung heard someone say. He was irked at their last comment and was about to give them a piece of his mind when another person piped up.
"Isn't it because Jungkook and Jimin are dating?" Taehyung felt his heart stop.
"What? But I thought Jungkook and Taehyung were dating?"
"No they never made it official, I heard Jungkook started liking Jimin after they went on the same quest last summer and hit it off."
"Well they are a cute couple. Jungkook is handsome ans strong and Jimin is very pretty and kind. They kinda make a good pair."
"Right? Don't they suit better than Jungkook and Taehyung? I mean don't get me wrong Tae is very good looking and I look up to him but isn't he a bit childish? Besides Jungkook and Jimin are children of one of the main 12 gods. Hecate is just a minor goddess isn't she?"
"Hey! Don't say that out loud!"
Taehyung walked away, not wanting to hear more. He wanted to punch those kids to defend Jimin and his mother but at the same time his inferiority and jealousy made him unwell. He wanted to punch himself even more for that. He felt like a terrible person.
