Where the hell am i

peter choked out a gasp as he emerged from the bottom of the green pit. His entire body ached as he dragged himself to the edge, pulling his body out of the liquid. He lay there heaving, spitting out the foul liquid.

After a few minutes he manages to roll his body over. he props himself up on his forearms as he pulls his knees upwards. sitting upright, the pain slowly starts to reside, a throbbing headache taking its place.

Slowly he wills himself to stand. His spider sense begging him to run, to get as far away from the pool as possible. He hobbles over to the nearest wall leaning against it, gathering his bearings. He lets out a strangled cough before looking around the cave in which he appears to be in, searching for an exit.

Towards the far end of the cave a path leads into a form of man made tunnel. Peter drags his legs towards it, scuffing his feet on every uneven crack in the floor.

As he makes his way further down the tunnel he notices it is a sewer. Just great, now he feels like shit and he’s going to smell it too.

He wanders through the sewers for about 20 minutes before he finds a ladder. Using the little strength he has he climbs upwards towards the man hole cover. Once getting to the top he pushes with his shoulder and manages to nudge the cover off just enough for him to squeeze through.

Once up, he looks around. He does not recognise this place. the buildings are tall and dark, adorned with impressive stone masonry. A heavy smog blocked out the sun, casting a shadow over the entire city. Peter doubted that what he was breathing in was non toxic.

He did not find it very difficult to be unnoticed in this city. He walked through the streets, totally ignored by passers-by, as if he wasn’t soaking wet and smelling like an overflowing septic tank.

Finding the nearest public bathroom he stepped inside closing the main door and jamming it locked.

He moved towards the sink and splashed his face with water. Immediately realising how thirsty he was he pushed his mouth under the tap and drank several glups before coming to his senses. What the hell is he doing?! He doesn’t know if this water is safe to drink?!

Running a hand down his face he looks up at himself in the mirror. Or.. the 9 year old boy in the mirror. This feels wrong. He isn’t supposed to be 9… right? He leans closer in, inspecting his face.

It looks like his face? He at least thinks?
His brown hair sat wet and limp against his forehead, a pure white streak interrupting it in the middle. That wasn’t there before. definitely. he’s sure of it. His eyes as well, he’s sure they weren’t green, brown maybe? but not green. he’s not even sure this shade of green is even biologically possible.

Why can’t he remember if this is normal or not?

he lets out a loud sigh and heads out of the bathroom. He can’t stay here, there are needles littering the ground and he’s pretty sure he’s contracted some kind of disease just standing in there let alone drinking the tap water.

He wanders the streets as the little light the city had begins to fade, his exhausting creeping up to him. He needed to find a place to crash before his body decided for him.

He reaches a dark alley marked “park row”. a few rubbish bins line the wall. That seems like a good place to hide. for tonight at least.

he pushes some bags aside and curls up behind one of the bins. immediately passing out.
