Chapter 6
The X-Men had gone on a mission and split into two teams. Once the fight was over, Wolverine, Jean, and Storm were near the jet, while the others shouldn’t have been far behind.
Suddenly, they saw Cyclops approaching alone.
“Where’s the rest of the team?” Wolverine asked.
“They’re still back there. I came to get the Blackbird and bring it to them. Morph got hurt, and—”
“What?!” Wolverine didn’t let Cyclops finish and took off running in the direction of the others.
He saw Gambit and Rogue talking, and just a bit farther ahead, Morph was sitting on some debris, chatting with Hank. When Logan noticed they didn’t seem seriously hurt and laughing—probably at their own joke—he slowed down.
“Morph, are you okay? Cyclops said you were hurt” Logan said when he got to their side.
“Oh, yeah. Hank says I twisted my ankle during the fight, but I’m fine. You should see the other guy” Morph joked.
“With some ice and rest, I’m confident our friend will be good as new by tomorrow” Hank added with a smile.
Logan let out a relieved sigh and sat down next to Morph.
A few minutes later, Cyclops arrived with the jet, parking it closer to the group.
“Are you going to carry me, or do I need to ask one of the handsome guys on the team?” Morph teased as the Blackbird’s ramp lowered.
Before Logan could respond, Morph stood on one foot, lifting their injured one slightly. “If you give me a hand, it’ll make getting on the jet a lot easier, you know?”
Catching Morph off guard, Logan scooped them up bridal-style.
“Wolverine!” Morph blushed. “What are you doing?”
“Helping you to get in here” Logan replied as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Once inside the jet, Logan set them down in their seat. Morph could hear Gambit chuckling nearby. When they arrived back at the school, Logan picked Morph up again, this time carrying them to their room.
“It wasn’t that bad of a hit, you know?” Morph said “I can walk to my room.”
“beast said you need to rest. If you put weight on your bad foot, you’ll just make it worse.”
Logan set Morph down gently on their bed. Before leaving the room, he added, “Don’t move. I’m going to get an ice pack for your ankle”
A few minutes later, Logan returned.
“Here” Logan said as he sat on the bed and carefully placed the ice pack on Morph’s ankle.
“Thanks”
They sat in silence for a moment. Logan remained on the bed and didn’t seem like he had any intention of leaving.
“You…” Morph began, their face turning slightly red. “Are you going to stay here and keep me company?”
“If you get bored, you’ll end up getting up. So yeah, I’m going to keep an eye on you until you fall asleep.”
Morph started laughing before giving Logan a soft smile. “Well, it’s a good thing I really like your company.”
Logan smiled back at them.
