Chapter 2
Wolverine and Morph had been arguing a while ago, though the shapeshifter wouldn’t really call it that. It was more like a "I’m right, and Logan just doesn’t want to admit it" situation.
"I know you, Logan. You seem tough, but deep down you’re soft" Morph said.
"I am not" Logan growled, unsheathing his claws in a threatening manner.
"Oh, come on. Like I don’t know you’d never hurt me" Morph said, grinning teasingly as they walked off, still smiling.
A few days later, the X-Men had a mission. They won the fight, and Logan spotted Cyclops and Beast near the Blackbird, several meters away, while other members were heading back to the jet. He was about to do the same when someone called him.
"Wolverine…" a familiar voice said.
When he turned, he saw Morph on the ground, holding their ankle.
"Morph!" Logan rushed over in concern. "What happened? Are you hurt?"
"I think I hurt myself during the fight, but it’s fine" Morph said, trying to stand. However, their leg wobbled, and they let out a pained groan, almost falling but catching themselves on some rubble.
"Morph!" Logan grabbed their arm, worry etched on his face.
"I’m fine!" Morph said, smiling.
Logan turned his back to them and crouched slightly. "Get on."
"What?"
"You can barely stand. You’re not making it to the Blackbird like this. Get on," Logan insisted.
Morph climbed onto his back, wrapping their arms around Logan’s neck as he held their legs and stood up, carrying them toward the others.
As he walked with Morph on his back, Logan felt a pang of guilt. I shouldn’t have lost sight of them during the battle. I need to be more careful.
When they reached the others, Cyclops asked, "Is Morph hurt?"
"Yeah—"
"Nope, not at all, I’m fine," Morph interrupted, hopping off Logan’s back and standing without issue. "Wolverine just wanted to carry me."
"But… you said you were hurt," Logan said, confused.
"Nah, I just wanted to prove you’re a softie," Morph said before running onto the jet.
"Hey! Get back here! Wait until I catch you!" Logan shouted, chasing after them.
Cyclops watched the scene unfold, letting out a long sigh.
