Chapter 1
Chapter 1: Blood
Jonah was looking at everyone in the room. Tina Minoru, Robert Minoru, Victor Stein, Janet Stein, Leslie Dean, Stacy Yorkes, Dale Yorkes, Geoffrey Wilder, and Catherine Wilder were all standing in Janet and Victor Stein’s basement. Jonah said “How come, none of you thought to call me when you all found out that your kids were suspecting something strange about P.R.I.D.E? I thought we agreed to always tell if your kids ever got suspicious.” Everyone was dead silent, not daring to utter even one word. Jonah said “Fine you don’t want to answer me, that’s okay. I guess I’ll just do this the hard way then.”
Jonah looked at all of the parents, and stopped when his eyes landed on Tina. Tina glared at Jonah with spite. Jonah said “Oh, Tina, always the feisty one,” Jonah continued “You know, your daughter Nico, she almost found the videotapes of the sacrifices, normally I would make Nico pay the price, but because I’m feeling generous, you can pay instead.” Jonah walked up to Tina and whispered “I hope this hurts.” Before anyone could react, Jonah pulled out a gun and shot Tina in the stomach two times. Tina screamed in pain, and the other parents moved toward Tina, but then Jonah pointed the gun at them, and they backed away. Jonah pointed to Tina and said “Take this as a warning, next time, it will be your kids that will take a bullet to the stomach.” Then Jonah walked away, and left Robert, Victor, Janet, Leslie, Stacy, Dale, Geoffrey, and Catherine to attempt to save Tina while she’s still alive.
Tina was leaning against the wall, her hands falling limply onto her stomach where the gunshot wounds were. She looked down and saw blood gushing from the wounds. When Tina looked back up she met eyes with her husband, Robert, and fell to the ground. Robert ran to catch her before she hit the ground. Tina mumbled “ロバート と ニコを 愛しています.” Then she passed out.
Robert said “Stacy, Dale help her, you went to medical school right?” Stacy nodded very hesitantly and said “Yeah, in the 90s.” Robert looked up at them annoyed. Stacey and Dale always got on everyone’s last nerve, whether they show it or not . Janet said “W-we have to get her to a hospital, maybe they can save her.” Geoffrey said “No, they’ll ask too many questions at the hospital.” Then the room filled with the sound of choking. Robert looked down to see Tina coughing up her own blood. Her blood splattered all over her face, and some blood got on Robert’s clothes too. Robert was too focused on Tina to bother with his now dirty clothing. Dale said “Prop her up, Stacy, go find some thread and a needle, looks like we’re going to have to stitch Tina up here.”
After some looking, Stacy found thread and a needle. Dale said “We can’t stitch her up with the bullets still inside her stomach.” Stacy said “I couldn't find any tweezers, looks like I’m using my hands.” Robert said “Hang on, you are not shoving your fingers in my wife's stomach to get the bullets out.” Dale said “It’s ethier Stacy uses her hands or Tina slowly dies from the metal from the bullet decomposing in her body and entering her blood stream.” Robert nodded and slowly let go of Tina's body and laid her on the floor. Stacy said “Ok, here it goes.” Then she stuck her hand in Tina’s stomach.
Blood went flying everywhere, even though Tina had fallen unconscious a few minutes ago, she still whimpered in pain. Stacy said “I got the bullet.” Then Stacy pulled her hand, with one of the bullets in her grasp, and her hand covered in Tina’s blood. Dale said “Okay Stacy, now you have to get the other bullet.” Everyone groaned. Stacy said “Well here goes…Again.” All this sudden Tina started violently seizing. Robert asked in a panic “Dale, what’s happening?” Dale said “I don’t know, she must be having some sort of seizure from the blood loss.” Geoffrey asked “Well how do we make it stop?” Stacy said “We wait it out, it’s out of our hands.” After about another forty-five seconds Tina stopped seizing. Stacy said “Okay, let’s get that bullet out before she starts seizing again.” Dale and Robert nodded and both held Tina’s abdomen steady while Stacy reached into the other bullet wound.
Thirty minutes later Tina was still unconscious, but alive. Dale and Stacy were able to slow the bleeding enough to stitch up her wounds. The color had yet to return to Tina’s cheeks and lips, and her skin was not warm to the touch. As Catherine looked around the room and saw the blood everywhere she said “How are we going to explain this to the kids if they come down here and see all this blood?” Geoffrey nodded in agreement. Victor said “I’ll get a clean up crew to come, but for the time being we’ll just have to keep them out of here.” Leslie said “Everyone, get your kids and go home, we’ll discuss this more in the morning.”
Everyone but Robert and the unconscious Tina went upstairs to get their kids and drive home. The room stunk of blood and sweat, but Robert supposed that was least of her problems. As he was looking at Tina he noticed that her lips were blue, her skin was pale and clammy, and she was covered from head to toe in her own blood. Robert said to his unconscious wife “How did a normal P.R.I.D.E meeting turn into this?” Robert chuckled sadly. Robert then picked up the limp, and still cold Tina into his arms, got up and started walking upstairs. He couldn’t help but start wondering how he was going to explain this to Nico on the car ride home.
