Chapter 1
Friday, August 11th, Light Kingdom.
The two boys and their friends ran, laughing as they chased each other through the woods. A large dog ran beside them, making sure that they were alright, barking from the excitement of the seven children.
They came to a lake and stopped, panting for breath. The two men who were with them emerged not too soon after. The boys rolled up their pants, not wanting them to get wet, while the two girls held their skirts up as they waded through the shallow water.
"Come on, Kacchan!" Izuku encouraged.
"Piss off!" Kacchan replied. He was forced into the water by his friend, Mina.
"Don't be a baby," she said.
"I'm not a fucking baby!" Kacchan snapped. He waded into the water. "Fuck, it's cold!" Izuku laughed.
"It's not cold!" He said. Kacchan shot him a glare.
"Yeah, Kacchan, it's not cold!" Denki agreed.
"That's because you're fucking weirdos," Kacchan grunted.
"You wanted to come," Tenya pointed out. He was standing pretty comfortably in the water. So was Mina, who had long since dropped the hem of her skirt. It wasn't a huge deal. After all, a basic brown skirt wasn't too big of a fuss, and she could remove it later.
"It's fine, Bakugo. You're just sensitive to cold things," Ochako said.
"Yeah, because my element's fucking fire!" Kacchan shouted.
"Not too loud," Aizawa grumbled.
"You agreed to come," Hitoshi pointed out. Aizawa just glared at him, not really caring, before going to the shade and sitting down to sleep. Tensei joined him, but he didn't try to go to sleep. He was more trying not to get heat stroke from being in the sun for too long.
However, the kids didn't care. They laughed and played in the water. Mina practised her abilities, trying to get better at her ability to manipulate the water. Izuku thought that she was quite good already. Not quite a master yet, but good enough.
He managed to make Tenya fall in the water by making the plants in it grow abnormally fast, an ability he'd always had since he was a young child. Tenya shouted, alarmed, but he laughed, seeing the fun in it.
They went back to the shore when they decided that they were done for the day, going and drying off with the towels that had been brought with them. They ended up just sitting there, Denki and Izuku both looking up into the sky, not really caring about the sun.
"I still don't know how you guys do that," Hitoshi commented, looking at the two of them. Izuku flipped over onto his stomach to see Hitoshi looking mostly at his brother. Izuku smirked.
"It's our abilities," Denki replied, oblivious to Hitoshi's staring. Izuku looked over at Aizawa, who he could see peeking at Hitoshi and Denki, making a connection. He just shook his head fondly before turning to talk to Tensei.
"It only makes sense for them to be able to stare into the sun. After all, they are children of light," Ochako commented. She began to hand out the snacks that they had brought with them. Izuku took one gratefully. All of that messing about in the water had tired him out a lot.
"I still don't understand it," Hitoshi deadpanned, taking a pastry from Ochako. "Thank you."
They ate and talked for a while longer, joking, making Kacchan angry, and then calming him down and laughing. Eventually they had to pack up and return, so they did. Izuku made sure that they packed up every thing that they had brought with them, including rubbish. Then they went back, running and laughing as they did.
They got to the gates, which opened for them. Izuku waved to the people on duty while Aizawa and Tensei saluted them before entering. They walked through the gardens, pocking fun at each other.
"Prince Denki, Prince Izuku, your parents wish to see you," a servant said, bowing in respect.
"We'll be there after we change into some clean clothes," Izuku replied.
"Of course, your Highness. I will go tell them. They are in the parlour." With that, they left.
"Alright, you lot, go to your places," Tensei instructed the others. Kacchan tsked.
"Fine. I'll go see if there's anything I can do." He left.
"Bye," Ochako said, waving goodbye as she left to the where the servants worked, Mina following behind. Hitoshi and Tenya went to training.
Only the two princes were left. They walked together, talking about what they might have for dinner or about some of the gossip that Mina gave them. Aizawa and Tensei were behind them, almost invisible.
After a quick change, the two of them went to the parlour, where their parents were waiting. They both smiled when they saw the boys. Izuku couldn't help but smile.
"Hi, Mom, hi, Dad," Izuku greeted them.
"Hi, Momma, hi Dad," Denki echoed.
"Hello, boys. Have a seat, we have something important to discuss," Toshinori invited. Izuku and Denki sat across from their parents, both curious about what they had to talk about.
"What do you want to talk about?" Denki asked. Ever the curious one.
"The ceremony to officially declare Izuku the Crown Prince of this kingdom." Izuku's breath hitched. "We were talking about it, and we have decided that you should claim your position soon."
"Really?" Izuku was only fourteen, yet his biggest goal in life had always been to be a fair person and a good ruler. He had his hobbies and his other goals, too, but this had always been his biggest dream of them all. But now that he was actually going to do it was rather freaky.
"Of course, we want you to be comfortable. You already do quite a few of the things that Crown Princes do, but we would like you to pick the date and the catering," Inko assured. Izuku glanced at Denki, who was grinning like a madman. Izuku looked at his parents, both wearing supportive looks on their faces. Izuku grinned.
"This is great!" He exclaimed. "Maybe we could have it after my fifteenth birthday, maybe a month after, so that people can come for my birthday and the ceremony, that way they won't have to spend so much time travelling to and from, and can spend more time in the kingdom. It would certainly expand the tourism in the kingdom- ah, sorry, I was mumbling again, wasn't I?"
"I'd say that it was a good line of thinking, having your birthday celebration before the ceremony. Hey, while we're at it, why don't we do my birthday too? It's in June, and that's the start of summer, so it's perfect! We can kill three birds with one stone!" Denki rambled. He was far easier to understand than Izuku's mumbling, and he was the only one who really understood his mumbling. Except for Kacchan.
"That's a wonderful idea! What do you say, love?" Toshinori agreed.
"I say we do it," she agreed.
"Think about what you want at each event. We might not do something so grand for your birthdays, but the ceremony is certainly going to be a magnificent night," Toshinori said.
"Yes, Dad!" Both boys chorused.
"That's all we wanted to talk to you about, so if you want to do something else then you can."
"Alright. Thanks for talking to us about it," Izuku said. He stood up, offered a bow, and walked out, Denki following suit.
"Let's go plan," Denki said, energetic as usual. Izuku laughed.
"Sure, let's do it."
