The Recruits
Knock knock knock.
Tony waited again for anyone, before knocking for what felt like the fiftieth time when-
"Y'know, it's kinda bad to pester a couple on their honeymoon." The billionaire turned to see who he was looking for, Spider-Man. "Sorry, things needed to happen and you are needed."
"For what?" the person hanging upside down asked, "Captain America and The Falcon broke the newly ratified Sokovia Accords and are preparing to run. And I need you and your friend Squirrel Girl-"
"Wife." "You and your wife Squirrel Girl to help." Tony felt he had it locked and loaded when Spidey asked, "What would these accords do to the little guys like me, just helping their neighborhoods?"
Tony paused and tried to look like he was thinking, "I don't know. Things came up and I never bothered to read them." What Tony didn't know was that Spidey could tell he was lying, just by his face. Spidey could see the tells, everything Tony thought he wouldn't.
Something bad would happen to the little guys, and he couldn't work with someone who supports it. He looked to his left and up, Monkey Joe was prepared to attack. "Okay," Spidey replied.
"I could make you an Avenger," Tony offered to Spidey, "Well, that ruins the whole 'friendly neighborhood part, doesn't it?" "I could make you a new suit," Tony offered again.
"Nah, I like the homemade look. Keeps me closer to the people of New York if I look like I could be anyone."
"New web shooters?"
"Who said they weren't natural?" Spidey said before whistling, causing Monkey Joe to jump from his hiding place and slightly bite and scratch the billionaire's face.
Spidey swung off to the side of the apartment, finding Squirrel Girl at the window. "We need to go," he said before grabbing her by the waist, she whistled, causing Monkey Joe to return to her and Tippy Toe before they swung off.
"Alright, that was a bust. Thankfully, I have backups," he said, pulling out a tablet and crossing out Peter Parker and Gwen "Doreen" Green off, leaving Kamala Khan, Ava Ayala, Marc Spector/Steven Grant/Jake Lockley, Gwendolyn Poole, and Eric Brooks.
Inside the Avengers Compound, Vision phased through the floor, reaching Wanda above as an explosion happened nearby. "What is it?" she asked, "Stay here, please," he said, ignoring her question, as he did not know the answer.
She looked on as he phased through the wall, sensing someone in the room. She used her mutant powers to pull the knife out of the cutting board and aim it at the person's face, meeting Clint Barton.
"Guess I shoulda knocked," he said as he moved the knife out of the way before it clanged on the floor. "Oh, my god! What are you doing here?" she asked, "Disappointing my kids," he replied before shooting two new versions of the electric arrow.
"I'm supposed to go waterskiing. Cap needs our help. Come on," he said, grabbing her hand as Vision phased back into the room. "Clint!" he yelled, stopping the two in their tracks, "You should not be here."
Hawkeye turned around, "Really? I retire for, what, like five minutes, and it all goes to shit." "Please consider the consequences of your actions." Vision asked and Hawkeye saw him reaching the two arrows, "Okay, they're considered."
Vision passed right between the two arrows, causing an electric current to be made between the two. "Okay, we gotta go," we said before running off, realizing Wanda wasn't with him. "It's this way," he said as if she didn't know her way around.
"I've caused enough problems," she said, getting Clint to run back to her. "You gotta help me, Wanda. Look, you wanna mope, you can go to high school, you wanna make amends, you get off your ass."
Vision blasted one of the arrows with a laser, setting him free. Hawkeye fired an arrow as Vision approached, which phased through him. Vision punched Clint, who rolled into a pose, "Knew I shoulda stretched."
He pulled out a blade and tried to slash Vision, who simply made the knife phase through him. Clint punched him a few times, before slashing again. He hit Vision, but it didn't hurt as the blade snapped.
Hawkeye threw the broken blade on the ground before trying to kick Vision. It failed and he was placed in a chokehold, "Clint, you can't overpower me."
"I know I can't, but she can," he squeezed out as he looked at Wanda, who was charging a ball of pure chaos. "Vision, that's enough, let him go. I'm leaving," Vision looked at her, "I can't let you."
She used her powers, taking slight control of Vision, making him phase Hawkeye out of the chokehold. "I'm sorry," she said before increasing Vision's density, making him heavier and heavier.
"If you do this... they will never stop being afraid of you," he strained out. "I can't control their fear, only my own," she replied before making him so dense, he fell through the floor of the compound and into the Earth's crust.
"Ooo..." Clint looked at the giant hole before turning to Wanda. "Come on, we got one more stop," he grabbed her hand again and they ran off.
"Hold on, I need to check something," the blonde girl with pink highlights left the room, leaving Tony alone. Gwen Poole took out her phone and called someone special.
Meanwhile, inside a glorious mansion's bathroom sat a golden toilet with the words, 'Marvel Jesus's Resting Place' above it. "Hey, Gwen," Deadpool said, only wearing his mask while in the tub.
He was surrounded by rose petals, candles, had the tub filled with bubbles, and held a wine glass filled to the brim with wine that he swirls constantly. He turns to you, "No, the petals and candle aren't romantic."
"I need to know if you are okay with something."
"Hit me, baby."
"Can I be in Iron Man's team for Civil War?"
"Of course you can, you're your own character. I'm not slated to appear again till Infinity War, do what you want."
"Thanks, bye!"
"Bye!" Deadpool hung up and put down the phone before slowly sinking into the bubbles, leaving only his wine glass arm out. "Ahh, the life of a billion dollar franchise."
Back in Gwen's house, she reentered her living room, "I can do it." Tony looked up from his phone, "Great. Come with me, we got a couple others to get." He left the house before coming back in to see Gwen cuddling a weird shark-dog hybrid.
"You got a suit?" he asked, electing to ignore the creature in front of his eyes. She pulled the collar of her hoodie and t-shirt to show her costume below.
They entered a S.H.I.E.L.D branded van before driving off into the land of New Jersey. Once there, Tony exited the vehicle and pointed toward Gwen, "Don't leave this car, the adult will do the talking."
He shut the door and Gwen turned toward you before shushing you. She turned into a comic panel, appearing outside the next recruit's house window. She hid and watched the conversation, unable to hear.
Once they exited, she panelized again and reappeared in the car, like nothing happened. Tony entered along with a young girl in a blue and red costume. "Gwen, this is Kamala. Kamala, this is Gwen."
They drove off and Kamala turned to Gwen, "What is your power? Mine is this," she lifted her arm and made her hand grow big before shrinking it again. "Cool. Mine's Panelization."
Kamala cocked her head to side, making Gwen show it. She turned into a comic panel before teleporting into the passenger seat. Tony jumped a bit before she panelized back.
"Alright, no more powers in my van!" he yelled out as he drove back to New York to get his last passenger that doesn't need a quinjet.
Steve drove down into a parking garage, meeting with the white van inside. Sam, Bucky, and himself left the vehicle as Clint and Wanda left the van. "Cap," he said as Steve shook his hand, "I wouldn't have called if I had any other choice."
"Hey, man, you're doing me a favor. Besides, I owe a debt." Steve turned to Wanda, "Thanks for having my back," she looked toward Clint, "It was time to get off my ass."
"How's Scott?" Steve asked, getting Clint to walk toward the van's side door. "Not alone," he pulled the door, revealing Scott, Hope, and Pietro. "Did you really think me and Hope would stand by as Wanda and Scott get to fight?" he said as he jumped out.
"Yeah, knowing Tony, he's gonna get as much help to arrest us," Hope said. "Do you mind if some-two join the party?" the group looked around when someone jumped onto their level with someone clinging on them.
The girl jumped off as two squirrels crawled onto her shoulders. "Wait," Scott pointed at the visitors, "You're that Spider-Guy- No, Spider-Man! That's what it was." "And I'm Squirrel Girl, and this is Monkey Joe and Tippy Toe," the two squirrels on her shoulders squeaked when named.
"How did you find us?" Wanda asked, "It's not hard to follow a car after seeing Captain America enter. Also, I knew who you were because I saw the equipment." Bucky walked in front of the spider, "Were you sent by Tony?"
"No. I wanted to join your side because he tried recruiting me. He said that he didn't know what would happen to people like me, saving their neighborhoods, and I could tell he lied."
"I read the accords before leaving and told the group that in them, any super-powered people would be arrested and forced to either work for the government or reveal themselves and face jail," Steve told him the truth.
Spider-Man just stood there, but thankfully Squirrel Girl was there. "Spidey, calm down. You can punch him later," her husband took a deep breath and stopped shaking.
"Alright, welcome to the team," Steve said after Spidey calmed down. Steve walked towards him and shook his hand. Spidey turned to Squirrel Girl, "Should we tell them," he said, Squirrel Girl nodding her head, mouthing 'real name.'
Spidey backed towards her, "Now that we're fighting on the same side, I'll tell you who we really are." He pulled back his mask to reveal a young man, "My name is Peter Parker."
"Waitwaitwait," Scott pointed at him, "Weren't you that kid who got a part-time job at Pym Technologies to pay for college?" Hope leaned over as he was talking before asking, "Parker? Like, Dr. Richard Parker? The guy who convinced us to move past just technologies?"
"Yes! I actually think one of your spiders cause my powers to happen-" Peter was interrupted by a cough. "Right, and this is my wife Gwen Green, though on the field, call her Doreen."
"Alright, I'll do it on one condition. If any vampire things come up, I'm allowed to fuck off at any time." "Consider it done, Eric," Tony said. He held out a hand and Blade shook it before they left to Tony's van.
Inside, it was mostly quiet as Tony drove to a quinjet to fly to London, Blade's home city. "What's your powers?" Kamala asked him, he turned towards her and bared his fangs.
"Ooo, a vampire! That's cool! I can pretty much teleport and she has Morphogenetics. Oh, by the way, I'm Gwen and she's Kamala."
"Eric Brooks," the man said before turning back as they drove to the quinjet. "Alright, everybody out," Tony said as he unbuckled. The three recruits followed Tony into the quinjet.
First stop, Marc Spector.
