The Wretched Existence of an Unloved Child vol. 1
Summary
A collection of short stories that take place in my OCs universe. Tagged as Supernatural and Riordanverse because it is heavily inspired by those works, and I wanted to give credit where credit is dueSamael, the Angel of Death, has a grudge against her father. Working with her human avatar she attempts to end his reign. Throughout her war, her children are working through their own issues.A majority of these aren’t 100% canon, as the story has grown in my mind since I began this project

I Should've Worshipped Her Sooner

The wind whistled quietly as Naomi sat on her porch, reading a book. The rustle of the leaves were a comfort, and she felt the slightest bit of peace for the first time in a while. A rabbit bounded around in her yard. The day was slightly warm, but rain was coming. She could tell by the color of the sky, a dull light gray. The dark clouds hovered around the horizon.
The rabbit was gone, it had quickly disappeared into the brush. Naomi figured out the reason why very quickly. The temperature dropped, and her breath came out in thick, visible, cloudy puffs. The familiar scent hit her fast, and she watched the windows of her house glaze over in frost.

Another day, another kill. She had been naive to think she would get a full week off. "Naomi," Samael said. It's voice sounded different, like something was wrong. "Things are... going to be changing."
Goosebumps went down Naomi's arms. Not from the cold, she was used to that. The cadence of Samael's voice proved her passing thought, something was wrong. Her gut twisted, and an overwhelming sense of dread crept up her spine. "What do you mean?"
"You won't see me again. I won't give you any more missions. You're free to relinquish your contract with me at anytime, but I have to ask one more thing of you. I'm going to give you a locket, and I need you to hide it. To protect it with your life, because if... if he gets ahold of it then everything is over."
Naomi's eyes widened, "Why? Why are you leaving?" The floorboards creaked as she subconciously took a step towards Samael. It stopped her, putting it's hands on her arms to keep her in place.
"You need to promise me you'll protect the locket. It will be dangerous, and I won't be here to step in if things get too bad," it said, fingers tightening on her arms.
   "But-"
"I know you'll be able to do it, I know because you're so strong. But make sure that you never open the locket, or it won't matter. And he'll get it."
"Who? Who is he? What is the locket?" Naomi said, panic seeping through every inch of her body. The urgency in Samael's voice terrified her, it was a sound she had never heard before.
Samael ignored her questions. "When I first brought you into this war I promised I would be by your side every step if the way," it said, "I have to go back on that now, I won't be able to return to you. I won't be able to help."
Naomi stayed silent, she didn't know what to say. She had so little information on the situation, how could she be prepared for what's to come.
"I haven't held up to my end of the deal, I haven't given you the perfect life. I haven't given you everything you want," Samael said, "But I have one more thing coming for you. I know you want children, despite your fear of infecting them. After I leave, I don't know when, you will cross paths with two children. They will be orphans. The last task I am giving you, along with protecting the locket, is to protect them."
"No. No no no, you can't do this. You can't just leave me without warning, and tell me I have to do these things. You aren't allowed to do this."
Samael shook it's head, backing away from Naomi, like it was preparing to leave. She tried to reach out, to grab it's arm, to stop it from leaving, but the world opened up around it. It was gone, it had left, swallowed by the colorful tendrils of light that seep through tears of the universe when Samael decides to leave a place.
Naomi's hand went to her pocket. It was pulled down by a weight that hadn't been there mere seconds ago. Inside, the locket sat, buzzing with a powerful energy she had never felt before.
