Day 7 and 8
Although Magneto had been on the team for a while, Logan still hadn’t gotten used to him, so going shopping with him as if they were old friends felt strange.
“Was it really necessary for you to come along?” Logan said as the two of them stared into a jewelry store window.
“You want to get something for Morph, and I want to get something for Charles” Erik replied without taking his eyes off the jewelry.
“Let’s not make a habit of this” Logan said gruffly. “If you want to give Charles something of silver, why don’t you just use your powers?”
“I was thinking of gold, actually.”
“Maybe I could get a pendant for Sydney,” Logan said, moving closer to a display of necklaces.
“If you want to give them something tied to their Jewish heritage, this could be a good option” Erik pointed at a pendant with a thin chain. It was a circle with a symbol inside. “It has the Hebrew symbol ‘Chai’ It means ‘life.’ I remember it being used for good luck and prosperity.”
Life. Logan thought.
Suddenly, one of the store clerks approached them. “Good morning, gentlemen. Are you looking for something for your wives?”
Logan and Erik exchanged a glance before answering in unison, not very cheerfully, “Yes.”
Logan said he’d take the pendant Erik had pointed out.
“And you, sir?” the man asked Erik.
“I’d like to see some rings.” Logan grimaced at that but said nothing.
“A wedding anniversary gift?” the clerk asked, pulling out a black velvet box filled with rings.
“Something like that” Erik said.
After Magneto selected a pair of rings, they left the store.
“Are you giving it to him tonight?” Logan asked in his car.
“I was thinking of giving it to you tomorrow.”
“And how are you going to hide the surprise from a telepath? Are you going to put on your ridiculous helmet again?”
“It’s not a ridiculous helmet.”
“The professor doesn’t think so” Logan said.
Back at the school, Logan looked for Morph and handed them a small bag, from which they pulled out the pendant.
“A Pi pendant?” Morph said with a playful smile. “Thanks, Wolverine.”
“Pi?” Logan asked, confused.
“Yes, the number Pi” Morph said. “3.14 and something, something... I forgot the rest. I think it had to do with circles.”
“What? No, that’s not it” Logan said. “It’s Hebrew. Magneto said it’s a good luck charm and that it means being alive.”
“Oh... I’ve forgotten a lot of Hebrew words, but if that’s what it means, it’s truly a beautiful gift, Logan” Morph said, admiring the pendant before smiling sweetly.
“But you have to admit, it looks a lot like the Pi symbol” Morph teased.
Later, Magneto entered the professor’s office to retrieve some papers. From the desk, he spotted his old helmet, drew it toward him with his powers, and stared at his reflection in it.
“Erik?” Magneto looked up to see Charles standing at the door with a concerned look. “Is everything alright?”
“Yes, don’t worry, my love. I just... I think I got a little nostalgic” Erik said, glancing at his reflection again before returning the helmet to its place.
“Well, I hope not too nostalgic. I love where we are now; it would be a shame if you left again” Charles said, Moving closer.
“That won’t happen.” Erik knelt down to be at eye level with him and gently cupped his cheek. “You are my world, Charles.”
Charles placed one of his hands over Erik’s and smiled. “And you are mine, Magnus.”
With his other hand, Erik pulled a small black box from his coat. Charles’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Since I’m already on one knee” Erik said with a smile, opening the box to reveal a gold ring.
“Oh, Erik!”
“I thought that if you accept, we could have a small ceremony—just us and the team. I don’t need to sign papers to validate what I already know: you’re mine.”
Charles’s eyes filled with tears.
“I just thought the rings would be nice” Erik finished.
“I think it’s much more than nice” Charles said, smiling as he took the ring and slid it onto his finger.
“I’m sorry for not preparing a special speech, but with your powers—”
“Don’t apologize” Charles interrupted. “The fact that you gave me a ring makes this day incredibly special.”
Erik leaned in and kissed him, and Charles gladly returned the gesture, placing his newly adorned hand on Magneto’s neck.
Later, during dinner, Morph, as usual, sat next to Wolverine, and Logan noticed something.
They were wearing the pendant he’d given them.
“Is that a Pi symbol necklace?” Hank asked.
“That’s what I said!” morph replied.
The next day, the last night of Hanukkah, everything had been normal. Yet, throughout the day, despite spending time together, Logan hadn’t mentioned if he had something for Morph. Morph assumed the last gift might be something like the dinner of the other night, But night had already fallen, and the candles had been lit for the last time. Logan still hadn’t said anything. After saying goodbye to the twins, Morph found Logan sitting on the couch watching TV.
Morph sat next to him. They didn’t want to mention the gift—maybe Logan had forgotten, or maybe there wasn’t one. It didn’t really matter to Morph, but curiosity lingered, but if they asked they might sound interested and they didn't want Logan to think they cared more about the material than the gesture.
“Do you want something?” Logan asked, still staring at the TV.
“No, I just thought it’d be nice to watch TV with you for a bit.”
“I mean, do you want something as a gift? I ran out of ideas for today, so if you tell me what you’d like, I can get it for you” Logan explained.
“Well…” Morph leaned against Logan. “I’d like to spend time with a short Canadian, but I already do that every day.”
Logan chuckled and rested his hand on Morph’s. “I like spending time with you, too bub.”
Morph blushed slightly. Logan turned off the TV, and he could hear their heartbeat racing.
“You don’t have to give me anything else, Logan” Morph began. “With everything you’ve already done for me, it’s more than enough… Honestly, these have been the best holidays I’ve had in a long time.”
Logan gently squeezed Morph’s hand, making them look at him. “You don’t know how happy it makes me to hear that.”
They stayed there for a moment. Morph wasn’t sure what to do, they didn’t want to pull their hand away. Taking a deep breath, they spoke.
“But if you really want to give me another gift, you could give me a kiss” Morph joked nervously.
“If I give you one, I’ll want to give you more” Logan said, leaning closer.
Morph laughed. “With your serious voice, it almost sounds like you mean it.”
“I do mean it. I’m not joking.” Logan leaned in a bit more, and Morph froze.
“If you kiss me and- and then want to keep going, we’ll have a problem…” Morph said nervously, not pulling away. “Because I-I won’t want you to stop. And then what do we do?”
Logan smiled, cupped Morph’s face in his hands, and gave them a soft kiss on the lips.
“Does that seem like a good gift to you?” Logan asked, pulling back slightly but not letting go.
“Maybe one kiss doesn’t count as a gift, but more might…”
Logan kissed them again.
