Thor Odinson

There are aliens attacking New York.

Shocker.

You’d think that after a decade or so of this exact event occurring, the civilians of New York City would have some kind of plan in place to stay safe until the Avengers level the threat.

But no, people are running around like headless chickens, screaming and getting right in the path of cars being chucked around like baseballs.

To be fair, Peter isn’t any better.

Since he no longer owns a phone or any access to news sites, he learned that aliens had begun to attack New York when the dead body of a slimy blue blob slammed into the alley he was sleeping in.

The sound of chaos woke him up immediately. His spider sense kicked in and he darted out of the alleyway, looking up at the destruction around him.

The blue aliens surround the buildings around him, crawling up and around the structures, tearing apart windows and iron bars holding them up. In the sky, there is a large portal where the aliens fall through.

Peter sprints through the street, trying to find a secluded- and not alien filled- corner to put on his spider-suit.

He’s running through an abandoned side street where the aliens happen to be more abundant when a large crackle through the air echoes in his ears. Peter slaps his hands to his ears in pain, grimacing as he feels electricity make his hair stand on end.

Peter crouches in a side alley when a loud yell cuts through the air. Peter’s eyes widen when the God of literal thunder raises his hammer and slams it into three aliens at once. He lands on the ground a few yards from him, cracking the concrete under him.

The air leaves Peter’s body. He sits in his little corner, gobsmacked, watching as Thor swings his hammer around, hitting aliens with deadly precision. The man is laughing and bellowing at the aliens like he’s a kid on a playground.

Thor has his back to him, lightning crackling around his hammer and himself. The god looks around, watching for any more aliens.

Out of the corner of Peter’s eye, an alien creeps up behind Thor unnoticed. Heart pounding, Peter tries to call out to Thor, but the god doesn’t seem to hear him. He’s too far away.

Peter looks around, spotting a large metal pole sitting to his left. Decision made, Peter picks it up and sprints to where the alien has its large claw raised, preparing to land a killing blow.

Thor turns just in time to see the alien behind him, his eyes widening in shock. The god raises his hammer, doing anything to defend himself from the claw that’s descending on him, but Peter is already there.

He swings the pole with all his strength, hitting it straight in its gut, splitting the alien in half. The alien’s body flies to the left, both halves landing hard on the concrete. It twitches a few times and moves no more.

The pole, still in Peter’s outstretched hand, is covered in the blue slime, as is Peter. Gross. The god of thunder looks down uncomprehendingly at Peter, blinking in shock.

Peter breathes heavily, dropping the pole. It clangs against the floor, startling Thor out of his reverie. He straightens, narrowing his eyes at Peter.

“Mr. God of thunder, Thor, sir! I’m so sorry, I just- it was creeping up on you, and you didn’t see it, and I just reacted! I’m so sorry, sir!” Peter panics.

The god looks down at him like he can see right through Peter, making him sweat. He looks up at Thor with wide eyes, his heart in his throat.

An explosion from a block away takes both their attention. Thor brings his gaze back to Peter, looking him up and down.

“Thank you, midguardian,” Thor bellows (Do Asgardians not know the concept of inside voices?) “I am in your debt.”

And Thor jumps, soaring into the sky and moving to where the explosion happened. Peter can see little bolts of electricity in the distance where the god makes his attacks.

Still panting from the exertion of slamming a pole into an alien and saving the literal god of thunder, what the fuck is his life, Peter dashes back into his little alley.

The street is desolate now, so Peter’s in the clear to change without being caught. He pulls on his suit and shoots a web onto the roof, flying towards the sounds of people screaming.

New York needs their friendly neighborhood Spider-man, after all.

—------------------

Clint groans loudly as he plops onto the couch.

“That sucked.” He mutters, rubbing his side.

Sam nods, laying on his back and closing his eyes with a grimace. The battle had taken well over ten hours- mainly because the portal took forever to close.

Steve is still standing, although leaning slightly into Bucky, who has dark circles under his eyes and a scowl on his face.

Tony lounges on the side of a couch, his hand rubbing circles on his temple, trying to stave away his headache, “Can we get this debrief over with as quickly as possible?”

Steve nods, sighing, “Alright, everyone report.”

They go down the line, everyone giving their own point of views of the battle. It’s all normal, Clint shoots arrows, Tony gets distracted, Natasha kicks ass.

“Spider-man was helping with civilian evac, did you guys see?” Sam comments when he finishes his report.

“Yes I did, did anyone talk to him during or after the battle?” Steve asks.

Everybody shakes their heads. Tony speaks up, “He left as soon as the last alien fell. Didn’t say a word to anyone.”

“Well,” Steve says, “Keep an eye out for him, I want to know if he got hurt or anything.”

They get to Thor, who is extremely enthusiastic in his tale of the battle. The man is dramatic to a fault, making a few of them smile.

“And then there was a small boy who saved me.” Thor says casually.

That catches everyone's attention. Sam snaps his head up, “A boy?”

Thor nods, “Yes, there was a boy, he killed an alien who attempted to take my life while I was unaware.”

He watches as the rest of the Avengers exchange looks.

“What is it? Who is the boy?” Thor asks. He doesn’t get an answer.

Tony stands up, reaching for his Starkpad, “The battles are recorded on all of your suits, we can pull it up and see if it’s him.”

Thor looks around, “Who is him?”

Natasha shushes him, pointing towards the screen that Tony pulled up. It’s bodycam footage of Thor looking around a desolate street. He moves side to side while he searches the buildings for any aliens. A sharp hiss can be heard from behind him, and when Thor whirls around-

“Peter!” Tony says, looking at the screen wide-eyed.

“His name is Peter?” Thor asks.

They watch as Peter swings a large metal pole into the body of the alien who’s about to claw into Thor. They see the alien fly several yards away and hit the ground hard.

Nobody has to say that it goes a little too far from a hit of a normal, human caliber.

They watch as Peter stares starstruck up at Thor, laughing lightly at the awed look on his face. Peter apologizes profusely, rambling on about how he just reacted and that he didn’t mean to interrupt Thor.

“Is he seriously apologizing for saving someone’s life?” Clint asks.

They hear Thor speak to him before an explosion sounds, prompting the god to bid him adieu and head towards the center of the battle.

Tony cuts the footage off from there, the room dissolving into silence.

“Brave kid.” Natasha says after a moment.

“Stupid kid.” Tony adds, rolling his eyes.

“He executed it perfectly, though,” Sam says, “That alien didn’t stand a chance.”

“I’m not so sure a kid like Peter could hit an alien hard enough to split it in half, though.” Clint says.

Steve sighs, “You’re right. He’s all skin and bones, there’s no way the alien would’ve been that hurt if Peter was a normal kid.”

“Unless he’s enhanced.” Bucky finishes for him.

It makes sense. The kid really shouldn’t have survived as long as he has when he’s that skinny. And he definitely shouldn’t have been able to hit an alien that hard. They’d already been keeping Peter on their radar, but now they have a reason to make sure he stays safe.

There are plenty of people out there who will want to hurt him if they find out he’s enhanced.

“Well, he’s a worthy warrior nonetheless,” Thor says.

He is also interested in this small human boy. It’s fascinating how he chose to leave his safe hiding place to save Thor. Not many people on Asgard or Earth would do that.

Midgardians are so interesting. This one, in particular, is one he’ll pay attention to.
