They're Gone...

No. No. Nononono. It couldn't be true. But it was. Percy dropped his sword and fell to his knees. Silent tears fell as he stared at the carnage in front of him. His mom and Paul were dead. And Tartarus was their killer.

Ok so this is kinda like a prologue of sorts. It will explain what happened during the Giant War. I have changed some things to fit the story. This is after Ultron, but Pietro is still alive. If I spell anything wrong, tell me and I will fix it ASAP. There's gonna be some gore so ⚠️⚠️⚠️TRIGGER WARNING: GORE, BLOOD, AND DEATH.⚠️⚠️⚠️ Now that that's over with, back to the story!

The scene in front of me was horrible. Blood was splattered everywhere and the room was completely destroyed. They had tried to defend themselves. That much was clear. I could see mom's celestial bronze dagger, laying abandoned next to the remains of her body. I'll spare you the details, but Paul wasn't much better. The worst part wasn't the lifeless, mauled bodies, or the blood everywhere, or the fact that his mother had very clearly been pregnant, but the message. The one on the wall. The one that had clearly been written with blood. The one that told Percy who killed them. Why. The one that tore the last of Percy's hope for a somewhat happy life away.

Perseus. You have escaped me and killed my wife and children. So I took those who you care for the most. Pathetic little mortals. I will be seeing you soon, sea spawn. -T.

Percy could do nothing except stare at the message, at the carnage that was once his parents and their bedroom. So he did nothing else for three hours. For three hours he knelt there and stared and cried. He cried and cried and cried. He cried for his mother. His step-father. He cried for Piper. Jason. Hazel. Frank. Leo. Annabeth. Percy cried for his family, killed for revenge. And for his friends, slaughtered in the battle against Gaia. Hazel had been the first to fall. He remembered hearing her pained scream as the spear pierced her heart. Frank went next, making no attempt to stop the dracaena as she snatched his lifeline from Hazel's pocket. He and his lifeline burned to ashes as he sobbed over Hazel's body. Jason and Piper had been fighting in sync, back to back, when Porphyrion got a lucky hit, and they went down. The spear went right through them both. I had been about to run to them when I heard a scream. Her scream. Annabeth. I looked over to see Gaia holding Annabeth up by the neck, a sword lodged in Annabeth's chest, the life in her eyes quickly bleeding away. I screamed. I couldn't move. Earthen tendrils were holding me back from running to Annabeth, from destroying Gaia. I watched as Leo and Festus ripped Gaia away from the Earth. I used the water around us to make sure she couldn't return to the ground as best as I could. I saw the cannonball, heard it's strange high-pitch scream, which I later learned had been Octivan, saw as it exploded. When the dust settled, Gaia was dead. But so was Leo. There was no body. Festus was gone without a trace. We were forced to assume the worst: Leo and Festus had been incinerated by the power of the blast. Three days later we burned everyone's shrouds, and I was taken to Olympus. The gods offered me a wish. I asked that the gods leave me alone, but demigods could still contact me as long as it wasn't for me to return to camp or to fight, until I was ready to return. The gods agreed, but informed me that they couldn't take away my smell and monsters would still be able to find me.

Three hours passed before Percy moved. He moved as if in a trance. He wiped the message off the wall, being careful to leave no trace that anything had been cleaned or touched. He took his mother's dagger and replaced it with one made of steel, but not before smearing her blood on it so it looked as if it had been there the entire time. Then, he washed all the blood off of him and called 911, making sure the call was short enough not to attract monsters. Five minutes later, the police had arrived, and Percy was being driven to the station to find out if he had any living relatives or if he would be put in the system. Percy didn't have much hope of them finding a relative, so he was surprised when a shocked officer entered the small room that was bare except for a metal chair in the middle, and told him his uncle was coming to get him.

Tony pov
I had been in a particularly boring briefing on our last mission when my phone rang. Fury stopped mid-sentence and glared at me. I got up and went into the hall to answer.

"Hello, is this Tony Stark?"

"Yes, and who are you?" I responded, leaning on the wall.

"This is the NYC police department, we are calling to inform you that your sister by the name of Sally Jackson and her husband Paul Blowfis have been murdered, leaving behind her underage son, Perseus 'Percy' Jackson. Would you be willing to take him in until he turns 18, or should we put him in foster care?" At those words, I froze. I remembered Sally. I had found out I had a sister three months ago, and we met in secret. She had refused money and said she didn't want to be in the spotlight, so we met up when we could, and when we did, it was secret. Not even the team knew. Pepper did, of course. I couldn't hide anything from her. But I had never met my nephew. And now that Sally and Paul were dead, Percy needed a home.

"Sir?" I realized I had been silent for a while, lost in the few memories I had of Sally and Paul. They had always seemed like nice, easygoing people. Who would want to murder them?

"Yeah." I said, holding back tears. "I'll take the kid." With that, I ended the call, slipped the phone into my pocket, and prepared myself to tell the avengers that not only had I been hiding a sister from them, but that she had just been murdered and her son would be living with us for at least a year.
