12 years after the previous chapter But A Freedom Fighter! Spoilers for Thrawn: Enters the MCU. If you haven't read this Thrawn story I wrote do not read this chapter.
"Isval and all of those Twi'lek freedom fighters died for nothing. Thrawn ruined my operation. One that Steve and I planned for years. I brainwashed Sam into being a loyal Imperial citizen named Ben Arnold. I lied to him Yelena. He still hasn't spoken to me since we rescued him when Thrawn blew his cover." Bucky lamented to Yelena inside their bedroom on General Jan Dodonna's flagship
Yelena kissed him and replied exasperated, "My love you are too hard on yourself. My goodness you wouldn't have survived one day in the Red Room under the Iron Maiden. She would prattle on and on over every mistake in training even if you scored 99 out of 100. How the galaxy could you and Steve predict that some unorthodox blue alien from another dimension named Thrawn would ruin a plan you created with Isval's blessing five years before this Thrawn met the Emperor? As far as I'm concerned the Empire isn't all powerful. It's all lucky."
"Luck? Seriously babe. That's how you summarize Thrawn beginning a campaign against our fledgling Rebel movement with all kinds of tactical advantages? I don't even know where in the galaxy Steve is." Bucky complained
"We don't need Steve. Sam will come around when he sees how much carnage Thrawn will cause now that's he's been embraced by the Imperial machine with the rank of Grand Admiral. We have a group of new heroes called the Rebel Defenders and one of them is Cham's daughter Hera Syndulla. She's incredible. No one can touch her in the sky. It's like a piece of Isval still lives when I see how fierce Hera is in battle. The Empire doesn't stand a chance." Yelena observed
"You're right. We've spent our whole lives fighting a war. It's only a matter of time before we find Natasha and Steve. Until then we'll fight for a Free planet and a Fair Republic." Bucky said with a smile
"It doesn't have the same ring as not a terrorist but a freedom fighter though." Yelena said smiling back at Bucky
"When we find Steve he'll come up with a better slogan as Captain America."
"So are we any closer to finding out about that weird alien from another dimension with green blood who pretended to be me all those years ago on Ryloth?" Joaquin Torres said barging into the bedroom
"Dank Ferrik Joaquin can you knock before you barge in?!" Yelena yelled
"Did you not see the briefing General Dodonna issued? Thrawn probably knows about them. There's chatter that these aliens are called Skrulls. If we defeat Thrawn we can interrogate him about them." Bucky replied
"Good because that was just an unusual thing that I feel people forget about way too quickly. I mean the fact that there are multiple universes and different dimensions..."
"Can you please go Joaquin? Thanks." Yelena said getting up to close the door
Bucky couldn't help but laugh and Yelena joined in on the laughter as Bucky wrapped his arms around Yelena on their bed.
