Nomad vs US Agent
"I've always understood John. I've always known why you hated me. I failed. I spent so many years thinking I couldn't fail that I couldn't make mistakes because my intentions were always good. You know what they say about the road to hell right? Calling myself Nomad and wearing a gray symboless costume instead of the stars and stripes is a reminder. It's a reminder that the world isn't ready for a Captain America right now. See I just gave you another reason to hate me.
I knew Sam was going to fail in my place but I also know he'll get back up. That in the future there will be a day Captain America will inspire the world to change for the better. I should have told the media and the public that before the end of the Clone Wars when everything went to hell. One day someone will tell them and it'll inspire change. You don't have to be on the losing end of things because of my arrogance John. You don't have to suffer because I let the Avengers and the Jedi stray from the path they were originally on." Steve called out to John Walker amongst the thickest part of the forest
"You know the irony is Steve...I'm glad you and the Jedi failed. I'm glad Vader and his Inquisitors killed most of them and the Avengers are no more. All you do is bring destruction! You tried to avoid butchering these innocent villagers to kill the Emperor and Vader but you still destroyed their village. You still failed! You promised me and so many people prosperity but all we experienced during the Clone Wars was death. Now these villagers see you for who you truly are. I made sure to hide them from people like you...so they could be safe." Walker called out with disgust hidden amongst the trees
"You're a fool to trust Vader and the Emperor. I may have made mistakes but those two are different. They don't commit mistakes...they commit atrocities. You've allowed your resentment of me and how I operated during the Clone Wars to blind you to the truth Walker." Nomad said aloud
It was quiet and Nomad nervously held onto his gray Wakandan shield. He listened closely for any movement from Walker but it was silent.
"You're downplaying your biggest sin during the Clone Wars Rogers. You allowed a Jedi Master to join the Separatists just to get a chance at assassinating Count Dooku. You and the Jedi gambled with people's lives by having this hypocritical Jedi butcher innocent people to gain Dooku's trust because it was the tactically smart plan.
You're worse than a failure Steve...you're a hypocrite. The United Republic had to become the Global Empire to put an end to the chaos you created."
Fueled by his guilt over his past decisions Steve grew enraged and charged at Walker but Walker threw his Shield at Steve's back from his hiding place. Steve tumbled to the ground. Walker pulled out his blaster to kill Steve but Steve threw dirt in his eyes. The blaster bolt grazed Steve's face given him a distinctive scar over his beard. The two super soldiers struggled to recover from their minor facial wounds.
"Just give up. There's no coming back from what we've done. The title Captain America means nothing." US Agent taunted
Steve laughed, "I could do this all day. In fact I plan on doing this for many more days. My best friend Bucky convinced me there are brighter days to come but there's going to be a ton of darkness first Walker."
"My name is US Agent! And I'm going to protect these Twi'lek from you." Walker shouted in English and broken French so the hidden Twi'lek villagers could understand him
He then faked throwing three consecutive punches and decided on doing a spin kick which Steve ducked under. Steve attempted to tackle Walker but Walker flipped Steve over. He began punching Steve in the face but Steve grabbed his hand after two punches breaking it. Walker screamed out in pain and then Steve hit him firmly in the chest. Walker flew backwards but displaying a remarkable amount of endurance grabbed his own Shield and flung it at an angle above Steve's head. It hit Steve in the back creating an opening for Walker to hit Steve with multiple blows to the chest and face with his non-dominant left hand. Before Steve could follow through with another series of attacks on Walker's injured dominant right hand a weird ringing echoed throughout the forest.
To John however the strange ringing was the audible voice of the Emperor telling everyone who views Lord Vader as a protector to come back to the village. Walker obeyed mindlessly ignoring the injury to his hand leading the villagers back to their homes. Steve realized the Emperor (as his Darth Sidious) was behind this. He assumed it wouldn't work on Rebels because he felt no urge to follow Walker.
Steve contacted Bucky saying, "It's done. I distracted Walker from contacting Contessa Valentina. So you and Yelena should be able to establish a cover identity as an Imperial double agent. You can take credit for sabatoging Cham's attack plan against Vader and that should earn Valentina's trust.
Sam's memory wipe... I'll take care of it. I'll steal his uniform and equipment and make sure when he wakes up he'll identify himself as Ben Arnold. I'll dress a dead Imperial officer that looks similar to Sam in his Captain America outfit. For the time being the Empire will confirm Captain America to be dead. He'll rise again from the ashes when we're ready to truly challenge the Empire."
"When is that going to be? We lost our window of a surprise attack by giving the villagers a chance to hide and allowing Vader to set up a defense." Bucky complained
"The Empire thinks we are dead and I'm a broken husk of a man. We accomplished the one thing we set out to do that Cham is unaware of. We found out the identity of the enhanced person that's stationed here as an ordinary Imperial officer. Captain Ava Starr aka Ghost. We found out that Valentina is assigning her and another important operative to Project Stardust. We destroy that secret Imperial military Project and we'll not only save Ryloth/Algeria but we'll give the people of Earth hope that the Empire will be defeated. That Captain America isn't dead. That the Jedi aren't dead." Steve argued
"You think this entire plan is going to convince Master Kenobi to leave his hiding place and join the war against the Empire?" Bucky asked
"It'll have to be. Because Kenobi is our only hope to have a realistic chance at victory." Steve said before ending his communication with Bucky and running to where the unconscious Sam Wilson was sprawled on the ground.
