The Past

As Loki left the room Peter could tell he looked sad, then he remembers what the god has said as he was leaving and for some reason he was able to understand the strange language as though he had known it his whole life. Loki seemed to be lost in thought and didn't hear Peter call out for him, but his words seemed to unlock a distant memory within Peter that he thought was a dream.

{Peter's Memories}

"Daddy! Where you?" a young boy with one emerald colored eye and the other honey toned, can be seen running through the halls of the secret home Loki owned on the edge of Asgard to keep the boy safe. Black hair like his father bounced in tight curls on his head as he searched each room looking for his father. The boy sees his father round a corner to the kitchen and giggles as he scurries after him small hands clutching the tail of a red fox plush his father gave him to keep him company when he was gone at 'work'.

"I am in the kitchen, my little prince. Did you sleep well?" Loki could be seen packing a small bag of Pëtr's favorite snacks, the man seemed rushed and panicked but tried to portray an aura of calmness as he spoke to his son. His fear that the little boy would be able to sense something was wrong was heavy in his heart.

"Yes daddy, where we go?" Pëtr was curious as to why his dad has packed his favorite clothes and toys. The young boy was sure the trip with his Uncle Thor wasn't until the winter, but it was springtime. Maybe his dad had a fun surprise for the boy, or they were going to spend the night with his grandma.

"We are going to meet some very special friends of daddy's that will watch you until my work is done, then we will take a trip to whereever you want to go my little prince." The sadness in his voice could be heard but he knew that if he were to have told the boy he was not going to see him for a very long time that the boy would refuse to go and it would only make the goodbye harder.

{Time skip due to lazy author, let's just get to the goodbye}

The duo landed in Queens, New York, the young prince was asleep due to a spell Loki placed on him to make his goodbye less worrisome and avoid the tears he know would follow. There was a small walk to the Parker residence, but when the two arrived, they were greeted into the warm and welcoming home by a lovely couple. Loki explained to the Parkers that he was unsure of when he would be back for the boy but requested that they do not tell the boy of his past and raise him as a midgardian boy incase he failed to return. As he laid him boy on the couch of their small 2 bedroom apartment, he pet the boys hair and kissed his forehead for the last time. What Loki was unaware of at the time was the boy slowly waking up as he muttered a final goodbye.

"Goodbye, my little prince, I will miss you greatly. Now, with this kiss, I will block off all memories of our time together so that you will not mourn over my absence." Loki kissed the young boys head once more and left the Parker residence. Loki's vision blurred with tears as his casual attire his replaced with armour as he called to Heimdall to take him home.

{Back to the present day}

As the memory rips through the fog that hid his true childhood from him, Peter looks at the Avengers with tears in his eyes. "Uncle Thor, I think  I remember everything. All the times we played in grandma's garden and that one time we almost set grandpa's beard on fire. I think I remember the night my dad left me, he did it to protect me. Didn't he Uncle Thor, dad still wanted me, right?"

As realisation crosses Thor's face, he crosses the room and drops his hammer to sweep the boy into his arms in a big hug. "Peter, you are the reason he fought Thanos to get his mind back. He has been mourning your loss since the day of the war, we assumed after your home was blown up that you died in the explosion. We held a funeral and still celebrate your birthday every year on Asgard. Peter, you were the light in all of our lives. I should have known he would protect you by hiding you from everyone."

The rest of the Avengers look at the two with sad understanding, Tony feels his heart shatter at the thought of losing the kid he calls his son. They realise that that is why Loki chose to stay at the tower he was trying to be close to his family, but they were keeping him from doing so. They knew the god was under mind control similar to Clint but didn't know the full extent of the damage it had done. Deep down, they know he is honestly a good guy trying to make up for his past mistakes by earning their trust, yet they have been treating him like a nuisance.

"Please, can we let Loki talk to young Peter? My brother has been mourning his loss for years. Thanos used his mind to torture him, and from what I can gather, the bastard used to take form of those Loki loved. He told me that I was one of the titan's favorite forms to torture him, please he needs to heal. He would rather die than harm a hair on Peter's head, I take full responsibility for my brothers actions." Thor turned to the team with tears falling down his cheeks as Peter watched with pleading eyes.

"Hey, Pete, why don't you go ask if he would like to join us for a movie tonight. I think we should all talk, but let's just start small." Steve takes charge as Tony is lost in self depreciating spiral.

As Peter shoots down the hall, he stops at his room, then continues his way downt he hall with a falmiliar stuffed fox in his hands. A knock can be heard followed by a small exchange of words before footfall makes it known they god agreed.
