Chapter 1
It was just a fight like any other.
That’s what Peter told himself, right up until Ben’s sacrifice. In Ben’s view, however, this was every fight. Every fight could be the end, and dying to stop something was noble, so unlike his big brother, he could live with it.
For lack of a better term, of course.
So when he dived in, he didn’t have a second thought. He felt cold metal piercing his body. It burned. He could feel every inch of it inside of him. It was as if his insides no longer had privacy. He closed his eyes as he felt himself fading, completely without regret. If it even saved one person and all that, right?
He closed his eyes, feeling himself fade to dust, and embraced death like an old friend.
