Chapter 5
James, Misty, and Remy made it to Remy’s plane that he had.
Misty looked over at James as Remy got inside of the plane. “You sure that you want to do this James?” She asked softly knowing that the man had a fear of flying and it probably got a lot worse with his bone claws being metal now. She didn’t blame him if he didn’t want to fly.
James looked over at her, taking a deep breath. “I don’t have much of a choice, Mist.” He wanted to get to the island as quickly as possible and avenge the death of his girlfriend Kayla. His heart was broken just like it was broken when Misty herself had decided that it was best that they split up.
“Yes, you do. I know you want your revenge on what happened to your girl… I’m glad that you had someone with you during that time.” She admitted softly. She didn’t want to admit out loud that she was very worried about James when she split up from him. She thought about him everyday and he consumed her sleep when she laid in bed to rest. She really did miss him and was glad to be back with him.
James moved closer towards her, taking her hand in his, giving it a soft squeeze. “I see that you moved on too.”
“With Remy?” Misty questioned her brow raising.
“Well you seemed to care a lot about him.” James pointed out his heart clenching in his chest. He didn’t like the idea that Misty had moved onto a young punk like that.
“I may care about him James, but he wasn’t you. He’s not like you or me… or even that Victor. I do better with someone that follows the Alpha, Omega, Beta dynamic.” She shyly removed her hand from his.
“You love birds coming?”
“Boy I’ll smack that taste right out of your mouth you won’t be able to have any gumbo.” Misty snapped as her cheeks flushed in embarrassment. She wished that it was possible to have that with James, but it was impossible for the two of them to be together. Granted that was what she wished for but she was sure that James didn’t feel the same way about her.
James let out a soft chuckle. “Mouthy one isn’t he?”
Misty looked over at James out of the corner of her eyes. “You have no idea.” She mused softly as she moved towards the plane.

Remy looked over to see James grabbing onto the cord tightly in his hand. He let out a soft scoff, shaking his head lightly. “You don't like flying, huh?”
“I'm fine.” James said as he gripped tighter. “Just concentrate on what you're doing.”
“You sure? You got a bit of sweat on your brow there.”
“Very funny. Just keep your eyes on the…” James said pointing out the window.
“On the what? The clouds? Keep my eyes on the clouds?”
“You're up and down like a freaking yo- yo here!” James snapped.
“James, we're fine.” Misty said, putting her hand on his shoulder giving it a soft squeeze knowing that he was having a hard time with the plane and the turbulence that they were currently going through.
“Where'd you get this thing, anyway?”
“Oh, this is my baby.” Remy said, patting the dash of the plane. “I won her in a game. Jacks over fives.”
“Great.”
“Relax. We're almost there.”
“You better be right on that Remy.” Misty said, looking over at him.
“Would I ever lie to you, Cher?”
Misty let out a hum. “Sometimes I wonder about that. You did keep what you came to New Orleans a secret.”
“Oh Cher, I didn’t know you wanted to know so badly.”
“I don’t push people for their life story. Just remember that, sugar.”
“There it is. The island. Three Mile Island. Hiding in plain sight. No one's gonna snoop around a nuclear reactor. They think it's gonna turn them into freaks.”
“Like you?”
“Right.”
“All right. You ready? Because it's now or never. Let's go.”
“About time. Hey, if it makes you feel any better, this is really gonna hurt.”
“Well, yeah, it kind of does, actually.”
“James.” Misty said, moving towards James. She wasn’t about to have him leave just yet. There was one thing that she wanted to do before he left.
“Hm?”
She pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. “Be careful there.” She said softly looking at him. She bit her lower lip softly before moving back away from him. Her cheeks tinged lightly with blush.
“Right.” He looked at the two of them. “Good luck.”
“Likewise.”
“Oh, shit.” James said as he jumped out of the plane.
Misty let out a breath moving towards the front of the plane.
“You’re not going with him?”
Misty let out a laugh shaking her head. “This is James’s business.” Misty took a breath thinking for a few moments. “Maybe we shouldn’t leave.”
“You think something is wrong?” He questioned looking over at her.
“I don’t think we should leave James.”
“Alright, you got it, Cher.”
XXXX
Misty came up behind the two boys with a small smile on her lips. “Good to see that you’re alive James.”
“You know I thought that you would have left, but you kept true to your word.” James said, looking at her.
“You know, when you said you were gonna kill everyone, I thought you may just have been exaggerating.”
Misty shook her head lightly knowing that Remy didn’t know James all that well.
Remy helped James up to his feet.
“Yeah. Do I look like a man who exaggerates?”
“You're welcome.” James suddenly stopped and looked around.
“James?”
“Listen Mist. There's kids trying to get off the island. Split up. Go!”
“I'm on it.” Misty said with a nod of her head. She looked over at Remy. “Come on, Sugar.”
Remy nodded his head following Misty. “You care don’t you? About Logan?”
Misty cleared her throat. “Perhaps more than I should, he doesn’t care for me like I care for him.”
“You never told him?”
Misty shook her head. “No time for this type of talk, Remy.” Misty saw the kids running. “There they are.”
Remy nodded his head.
Misty made sure to tail the kids safely. “Go and find James and tell him they’re safe.”
Remy nodded his head. “Yes, Cher.” And he was on his way leaving Misty to track after the kids to make sure that they were fully safe and sound.
“Come with us.” A voice rang in her head.
Misty looked around her brows pinched together in worry. Where was that voice coming from?
“I know you have many questions.”
She turned sharply to see a man in a wheelchair. “Who are you?”
“My name is Charles Xavier and I am like you.”
Misty shook her head. “No one is like me…”
“Except your friends Logan and Victor. They have the same mutation as you… You don’t have to be alone, Misty.”
Misty swallowed the lump in her throat.
“Come with us.”
“I should go find James.”
“He’ll be in your path again. We don’t have time… people will flock here after what happened here.”
Misty looked back swallowing the lump in her throat. She again had to be split up from James. Her heart clenched in her chest knowing that James would either come back or he wouldn’t. She moved slowly toward the man. She slowly moved to get onto the plane with the others. She took a shaky breath closing her eyes as her hand went to the dog tags that she wore around her neck.
