As The World Caves In

Tandy had always known that Tyrone would have her back, just as she would have his. They were wound together by fate, constantly close enough to touch. To feel each other's hopes and fears, and to know that there was someone who understood what it was like to be them.

Tandy knew Tyrone would always have her back, just as she would have his. She would never doubt him on that front, but as the gaping maw of Galactus loomed before them; impossibly big and open wider than any humanoid could, she began to doubt. Tyrone's fear was like blood, slick on his palm as he gripped Tandy's hand in his own so tight that her fingers ached.

Galactus was impossibly big, taking up the entire sky as they stood in the wreckage of what had once been New York before it fell to Galactus' minions. Each one of his teeth was the size of four blue whales arranged in a rectangle, and the inside of his mouth was a massive void. There was just nothing. That was what Galactus wanted though. He wanted there to be nothing of the Earth, of the Avengers, of any mutant or human who had stood in his way.

Tandy's cheeks were hot with bruises and tears, her ears ringing as Galactus maw broke the upper atmosphere. Fire bloomed around him, around his teeth and the stretched corners of his mouth which did not charr even as he grew closer. His jaw moved slowly, closing in on the Earth's curvature like it was a big juicy apple.

Dr. Strange and Moonknight were nearby, the two of them arguing over a massive tome with singed pages that glowed an ominous red, wisping up towards their fingers like tendrils of fire. Neither men cared, or even seemed to notice the magical fire. Shouting over the sounds of Galactus' teeth chomping down on some far off part of the earth, and the teeth-rattling, organ-crushing rumble that shook them all to their core.

"Ty," Tandy's voice sounded strange in her ears, stiff and resigned. "Ty, the shockwave-"

"It's okay," Tyrone whispered, his arms now wrapped around her shoulders. His body wavered in the air, turning partially translucent as his arms became the clasps of a dark cloak around her, "we're together. I don't care about anything else."

Tandy reached up and touched her hand to the brooch that held Tyrone around her, the symbol of the new moon gleaming in silver. She closed her eyes as the shockwave approached, the rumble louder than anything she had ever heard.

"I don't care, either," she murmured back, knowing that Tyrone would hear her. "It's always just been us against the world. I'm ready to go, if it's with you."

The cloak shivered around her shoulders, grief spilling through their bond. The hood flipped up over her head as the shockwave hurtled towards them, she felt the cool grip of the portal to the Darkforce Dimension against her clothes. A swirling vortex of those Tyrone had swallowed, full of fear and terror.

Tandy smiled, and as the shockwave rolled over New York and over the rest of the world, as Galactus took bite after bite of the planet, she was sucked into the portal. Tyrone's arms around her neck in his cloak form followed until all that was left of them was a small ball of swirling fabric and dark matter.

Inside the Darkforce Dimension, Tandy's hands found Tyrone's face. Even without her sight, she could still see his face. She had mapped out his features, still stubbornly holding onto his baby face. His nose, his lips, his brow. She cupped his cheeks and pressed her lips against his. Light spilled out from her, and she felt a rush of blazing heat as their powers clashed together. Wobbling like two sides of the same magnet forced to be together, breaking apart in a nanosecond.

Galactus took his last bite of the Earth, and had just fixed his eyes on the moon when from inside his esophagus, something began to burn. Galactus had a single second to register the pain, before the black hole that had formed inside of him began to swallow. It went fast, his esophagus tearing itself apart. His organs becoming flattened and sucked into the small hole like a mouth with spaghetti.

Galactus' body turned inside out, and then vanished into the small pinprick hole of swirling fabric and light. The black hole wobbled, once, twice; and then ruptured from the inside.

Elements scattered across the galaxy, moving the cosmos in ways they had never been moved before. Planets drew close to one another, crashing into each other and sending debris falling as every single piece of matter in the universe shot its way towards the growing ball of light. There was a sort of snapping sound, like the breaking of a rubber band, and then everything snapped back into place.

Tandy and Tyrone opened their eyes, merged together into one being. Floating amongst the wreckage of what had once been the universe. They turned their gaze to their work table amongst the cosmos, and with darkness and light working together; began to rebuild.
