Chapter Three

  • "She's a groupie, all the hacking into S.H.I.E.L.D., tracking powers. She might as well be one of those sweaty Cosplay characters crowding around Stark Tower." ―Grant Ward about Skye

Daisy: rolls her eyes, crossing her arms "Typical Grant. Always looking down on people who don't fit into his narrow little worldview. But guess what? I didn’t need his approval to do what I’m doing. I’m more than just some groupie."

Fitz: adjusts his glasses, looking uncomfortable "Well, that’s one way to insult someone... I never really understood his animosity towards you, Skye. But honestly, I think you’ve done more good than most people could in a lifetime. He doesn’t get it."

Jemma: huffs, crossing her arms "I’m not sure why Grant insists on reducing your accomplishments to something so trivial. Hacking into S.H.I.E.L.D.? That’s not something a 'groupie' does. You’ve been a major asset to us. Maybe he’s just threatened by someone who doesn’t need to play by his rules."

Mack: laughs "A ‘groupie,’ huh? Yeah, sure. That’s definitely one way to look at it... if you don’t want to admit that someone’s out here changing the game. Skye’s always been smarter than Ward gave her credit for, and it’s not about cosplay or hacking. It’s about making a difference."

Yo-Yo: grins, eyes flashing with amusement "That’s one way to take a shot at someone who’s a real threat. I think Ward’s more jealous of Skye than he wants to admit. She’s out here changing lives, and he’s still stuck on petty nonsense."

Bobbi: smirking, shaking her head "Maybe Ward’s just bitter because Skye's doing things he could never even imagine. He’s too busy being a ‘soldier’ to actually understand what it means to truly fight for something. Skye didn’t need to cosplay to get the job done."

Hunter: snickers "A groupie? Yeah, right. Skye was always ten steps ahead of the rest of us, even when we didn’t know it. Maybe Ward should’ve spent less time worrying about labels and more time learning how to stay alive."

Grant: scowls, tone bitter "She’s just a hacker, a wannabe. Doesn’t matter how much she pretends to be part of this world—she’ll never really understand it. I don’t need to validate her, and neither should any of you."

Coulson: calmly "Skye’s never been about fitting into a box. She’s always found her own way, even when others doubted her. She proved herself time and time again. I don’t know why Ward still feels the need to tear her down—it says more about him than it does about her."

May: glances at Grant, voice cold "Grant has a way of belittling people who challenge him. Skye’s never been a ‘groupie.’ She’s more capable than anyone realizes. If Ward could see her for what she truly is, he might have a lot more respect for her."

Kora: laughs, rolling her eyes "‘Groupie,’ huh? That’s cute. If Grant had even half the brain Skye’s got, maybe he wouldn’t be so bitter all the time. She’s always been more than he could handle, and he knows it."

Lincoln: shakes his head, frustrated "I don’t get it. Ward’s always been so stuck on the idea that people like Skye don’t belong here, that they’re somehow less than him. But she’s always been ahead of the curve. He was never able to see that."

Trip: laughs "A groupie? That’s a good one. Ward’s just mad because Skye has the brains and the skills to do the things he could only dream of. He couldn’t even keep up with her, let alone understand her."

Daniel: sighs, shaking his head "That’s the problem with Ward—he can’t see past his own bitterness. Skye’s always been more than just some side character. If he actually took the time to see what she brings to the table, maybe he wouldn’t be so threatened."
