The leather around his throat is snug and stiff, but not too tight— and it’ll wear soft in time anyway, the same way motorcycle jackets and work boots do, a thought that brings the same familar comfort of looking into her eyes.
Pepper is smiling; he knows that much even with his head bowed, can hear it in her voice when she says “Does it fit okay?”, all soft and sweet and sounding like home.
“Fits great,” Tony assures her, and then, just to hide the sound of unshed tears sitting heavy in the back of his throat, he adds “and now everyone knows I’ve got my rabies shot.”
