The boy in front of Robin is nowhere close to the faceless monster he’s been fighting for years— he’s almost timid, well-behaved and unerringly polite and visibly more afraid of Robin than Robin is of him.
Distantly, he recalls something the bat had told him years ago during a visit to Arkham, that no one is born doing terrible things, that everyone is a product of circumstance, even the worst bad guys you could ever think of.
Looking at this kid with clever gray eyes and unruly blond cowlicks and no metal shell to protect him, Robin gets the distinct feeling that he’d let that particular lesson slip to the wayside.
