“You ok, Reindeer Games?”
“Yeah”
“Oh really?”
“Don’t push it, Stark.”
“Well that means there’s something wrong.”
“Why do you care?”
“You're an avenger aren’t you? Part of the team? I gotta make sure that you won’t mess up the missions.”
“Ugh”
“Come on! You didn’t think I meant that?”
“What else did you mean then?”
“Loki… We care about you.”
“After New York? I don’t think so.”
“I thought we moved on after you helped us get rid of Thanos.”
“Yes”
“Soo…”
“So what?”
“What’s up?”
“The sky, Stark. Leave me alone.”
“Ha, good one.”
“...”
“Loki, please.”
“I. Am. Fine.”
Suddenly, Loki got up from the dining table and stormed out the room.
“Yeah, clearly you are fine.” Tony scoffed.
Why won’t he leave me alone? He shouldn't care. After everything that happened in 2012…
“Stupid, stupid, stupid.” Loki muttered.
“I hope you’re not calling me stupid.”
Tony was leaning against the door frame to Loki’s room, with his arms crossed in front of him.
I should’ve known he was going to follow me.
Loki growled. “Didn’t I tell you I was fine?”
“Yeah, you did, but I didn’t believe you.” Tony started walking into the room and pointed to the chair opposite Loki’s bed. “May I?”
Loki instinctively nodded, and then regretted it. He started shuffling on the bed a little so that he wasn’t directly opposite Stark but it didn’t help him feel any better.
“So what do you want then?”
“To finish our conversation.” Tony frowned and looked at Loki’s wardrobe which was half open. “Hey, why’s there nothing in there?”
“Oh, I was cleaning it.” Loki muttered, whilst simultaneously beating himself up for not remembering to close the stupid wardrobe.
“Yeah?” Tony got up and picked up a dark green rucksack next to Loki’s bed and then started rooting around in it. “Hm, why are the clothes shoved in here?”
Loki could feel his face heat up with embarrassment. He had been caught by Tony Stark trying to escape the avengers.
“I- uhh, it..” Loki trailed off. No lie could safe him now.
“Loki were you going to leave?”
Loki nodded.
“But why?” Stark walked back to his seat. “Why would you leave when we told you that you could stay? Where on earth would you even go?”
“You don’t want me here, you don’t need me.” Loki whispered.
“No! That’s not true!!” Tony frowned. “Do you really think that we got sick of you that easily?”
Loki looked at Tony with confusion written all over his face. It just made Tony laugh even more.
“Loki, like I said before, we care about you.”
“Mhm”
“So what’s up?”
Loki didn’t know whether to tell the truth or run. It felt like Stark was just doing this because he had no better way to spend his time. Well neither does Loki. So he might as well tell the truth just this once.
“I just… don’t feel good enough for the Avengers. I’m Loki, the god of mischief, why should I stay here on Midgard with you guys? I should be somewhere I can cause no harm. I cause too much trouble as well.”
“You are good enough for us. Especially Thor. He was heartbroken every time you supposedly died. And as for the trouble, well, we’re the Avengers. We can handle it. So please stay here… we would really appreciate you getting involved in some prank wars.”
Loki smiled at how genuine Stark’s words felt. It wasn’t like Stark to be this kind normally, so it really did make Loki feel better.
“Ah now you’re smiling, Reindeer Games!”
“Now I’m smiling.” Loki got up from the bed at the same time that Stark got up from the chair.
“Now how about one of those prank wars I told you about?”
“Oh, yes please!” Loki smirked. Maybe he could get used to being here after all.
