The unexpected.
Their mission to create gems took priority over the majority of things. They started to take everything they could and gather it together. “We’re going to need a base of operations,” White carried numerous amounts of organics and resources and set them into a pile lined up with diverse amounts of other organics and resources. Black Diamond rubbed her chin, thinking of how they could build their compound while also creating the needed devices to start creating gems. “Now, that... We should've taken that into account before starting production on the gem creation. If we can pump out some builder-based gems...” White nodded, seeing where Black was getting with her idea. “We can have those gems create our place of residence.”
The latter nodded before running off to find more resources and organics that could be used. Before Black knew it, she found a pond of water. Inside were oysters of diverse colors. The gem picked up one of the oysters before hurrying back over to White with starry eyes. “White! Look, I found life!” She had a bright smile on her face. White threw the last of the resources she was carrying in a pile before rushing to Black to examine the organism. “What is it? It looks... interesting.” Black went onto open the oyster. Inside it revealed a pearl. Except... it wasn’t like Black Diamond or White Diamond. It couldn’t come alive. “Is it like us?” Black picked the pearl out of the oyster and examined it thoroughly. “If it were indeed one of us, wouldn't it have formed as soon as we freed it? When I formed, I had to break myself out of the ground... if this gem was alive like us, it would’ve done the same, no?” It could have also been that the pearl was a part of the oyster, so it wasn’t at all supposed to be alive.
“I’m sure there’s a way that we can animate it...” Black Diamond honestly believed that the pearl was supposed to be like them. Even if it weren’t, there could have been a way to make it alive. As she was deep in thought, her gem glowed. What White and Black did not know about themselves was that they harnessed a set of abilities that was unique to them. The black gem closed her eyes as its gem guided her. The pearl was ingulfed in blackness before that blackness washed itself away. The pearl was now a greyish color. Black’s gem diminished its glow, her eyes opened in shock. The pearl then took it upon itself to reform, lifting into the air. As White stared in disbelief, she couldn’t help but admire Black and her sudden power. It was just beautiful.
The greyish pearl reformed, her gem being on her cheek. A long-sleeved leotard with see through mesh pants and dark grey flats. A white bob to finish off the look. Black stared at the lifeform in awe, trying to understand how she even did this.
“White... I just gave life to a gem.”
