Chapter 10
No one know that Tony Stark already swapped back to their original place. Tony is not going to let this chance go. He meet Black Widow, and decide to try his other self theory about his team. Tony always seems unreachable. What will happen if he not?
“Care to make me a coffee? Since i pay for the beans?” God, that is very forced. Even him cringed silently to how his voice sounds. He never get close to Black Widow, why is he trying so hard now? Probably.
Black Widow, Natasha — she doesn’t replied at first, she turns her head to Tony, they stare at each other before then, after what felt too long, Natasha nodded and take another cup. “Sure.”
Not like what Tony had been worried about, Natasha did not scoff and walk pass him like she always did. She put a cup infront of him. Giving Tony an unreadable look, before then turned her heel and she leaves the kitchen.
Good.
At least, Tony can give the other Tony words a few brownie points for credibility. He should try more. So, after grabbed his coffee and walk to his own workshop, Tony already decide what is his next move; call Barnes.
After Tony meet the other Barnes from that world, he feels shitty. The other Barnes look happy. He have his metal arm back, upgraded, glorious and all — after the fight with Steve who trying to bring him back — his arm gone pretty bad and can function properly anymore. He might be not telling Steve about it, but Tony is an engineer. No way he missed the stiff points and a pained look in Barnes lip when he make a major move.
Well. Tony will fix that.
After 10 minutes, Barnes come. Face look pretty bad, no smile, no playful remarks he always gave — other Barnes actually — and only ex-assassin with a broken arm and soul. Probably. “You sit here.” it sounds like a demand rather than question.
“What?”
“I have enough see you walk around my house with that junk in your shoulders. Now, sit here and let me take a look at that,” Tony pat the place infront of him. Demanding Barnes to sit.
“Why?”
A hint of distrust paint his eyes. Understandable. ”Before i force you. Because that thing seems to hurt you. You look pained in it.”
“I deserve this pain,” Barnes replied. He turn his glance away from Tony. “I killed your parents. And many other.”
“Yeah, not going to say a nice thing like Steve always told you; not my talent. Yes, you did kill them, so what? You want to torture yourself as a form of redemption? Your victims not gonna thank you for that. You know.”
Barnes nodded. His face falls with a sigh, a deep full of sorrow sigh. “I know.”
“In my opinion, you rather use that time and that strenght somewhere else; save more people than what you killed,” Tony continued, “Maybe you join us in the battle, save my ass as much as you could, and distract Steve when he get ready to give us a whole speeches about team work and team bonding blah blah blah.”
Barnes look up at Tony. “What?”
“The price of my work. I am gonna make you a new one.” Tony says, pointed at Barnes arm. “And don’t think this is because of pity. I just hate it when someone make something impressive that i have not make,” Tony says. “After spending time in the other world, i can’t move my eyes off from that arm, you know.”
There is a reason why other Tony and other Bucky can be close friends and lot teamed up to prank Steve. Tony sure he can make the same changes, too.
