Being thrust into an era with so many technological advancements is jarring. Steve remembers how hard it was for him. All those feelings come rushing back as he watches Bucky fiddle with his phone, trying to google when his favorite show comes on. He glances at Logan. The mutant was given a gift neither Steve nor Bucky was granted. He had the chance to live in the time they missed. He had the chance to grow and adapt.
“Push the button that looks like a compass” Logan moves to sit on Bucky’s left side. He glances again at Steve, who sits on Bucky’s right. Bucky presses the button.
“Type with your thumbs, Buck, it’s faster than using your index finger” Steve explains. Bucky does as he says. Steve and Logan share another look, coming to a silent agreement. Make Bucky’s adaptation smoother than theirs.
Steve has to explain dating culture to Bucky. How he wouldn’t have to ask for her father’s permission to ask his daughter out, how different dates are now than back then, and how it isn’t everyone’s goal to ‘go steady’. That last part confuses Bucky the most. Why would somebody want to spend time with somebody if they had no intention of being with them? Steve can’t explain that. He calls Logan, who can’t explain either. Hookups are one thing, but situationships? Nobody can explain those. The three men laugh about how weird the world is compared to when they were young. To everyone’s surprise, it’s Bucky who brings up the positive.
“At least now I can love a man and not get too much shit for it” He mutters. He shoots a glance at Steve.
“Guess not. You know our old apartment is an exhibit now” Steve wraps an arm around Bucky “They put two beds, I distinctly remember there only being one.”
“Anyone could see the two of you had it bad for each other. Always sleeping a little too close to each other. All the Howling Commandos could see it” Logan chuckles. Steve and Bucky can’t hide their blushing or their laughter.
