Triggers: Mistaken identity

If there was one thing in all the universe (and beyond really) that Dean valued it was his car and everything from the highest of deity to the lowest demon knew it and stayed as far from it as possible. And those that didn't, well they found out first hand why the name Winchester was spoken in hushed tones. Which was exactly why Gabriel waited until the hunter was fast asleep before he snapped himself into the bunkers garage. The car in question was sitting directly under a light it's black paint gleaming from it's fresh coat of wax and Gabriel just barely stopped himself from rolling his eyes.

As he got closer to the car he grudgingly admitted to himself that he could see the innate beauty of it. It was clear to see the care that Dean put into the maintenance of the vehicle; from the buttery smooth leather seats that smelt of leather conditioner to the shiny coat of black paint that was flaw free and buffed to a high shine and there was a small voice in the back of Gabriel's mind that whispered that maybe he should just leave it alone. Still the elder hunter had been ignoring him recently and Gabriel didn't like being ignored. With his lips pressed into a thin line he snapped his fingers and watched as the once black vehicle was suddenly transformed into a bright pink with the leather interior turning a deep pitch black. A small grin quirked his lips as he pictured Dean's face come the morning. With one last look at his handiwork he snapped himself invisible and settled into wait.

Turned out that morning came much quicker than Gabriel anticipated and frustrated scream/growl combination that had filled the garage was not what he'd imagined happening. He stayed invisible as he watched Dean stalk around the car, his hands practically trembling as he touched the bright pink paint.

"Baby..Baby what happened to you? Who did this to you?"

The man's voice was a small reedy sounding thing as the brunette continued to circle the car, his movements jerky. At one point Dean dropped down into a sitting position; his knees to his chest and his head pressed hard against them. The garage turned silent and the smug feeling of pulling a joke over on someone shifted into a feeling of consuming feeling of distress. He wrestled with the feeling of needing to expose himself and show the brunette that the car was fine, that it was just an illusion but knew that Dean would have no qualms of running him through with an Angel Blade. Soon the quiet was broken by the sound of soft frustrated sounding growling that sounded suspiciously like crying and Gabriel shifted from foot to foot before making himself visible and forcing himself to saunter over to where Dean was still sitting on the ground; his back pressed against one of Baby's bright pink doors. He grit his teeth before attempting to smile and he only hoped that it didn't look like the grimace he felt it was.

"Hey Deano...got a new ride?"

As expected the hunter rushed to his feet and within the blink of an eye he had his pearl handled stainless steel Colt M1911A1 in his hand and pressed against Gabriel's chest. If he were human Gabriel was certain that he would have had a heart attack and despite not needing to breath he felt his breath catch in his throat.

"Dammit Gabriel, what the fuck are you doing here." Dean's voice was rough and Gabriel pretended not to notice how the other man rubbed his eyes in faux annoyance so he could clean away any sign of tears that may have been there.

"I can't visit my favorite humans?" He whistled as he looked around, rocking on the balls of his feet before looking back at Baby. "So...new ride? I never pegged you for a pink guy."

Dean's face turned a light shade of red as he looked at the bright pink vehicle. "Yeah, well...I'm pretty sure this is Sam's idea of a joke. He's been saying that he's going to get me back after I swapped out his turkey bacon for real bacon."

Hearing that Dean was blaming Sam for the pink Impala should have made Gabriel's guilt over the act disappear but for some reason it compounded it and he felt his stomach churn and nausea start to creep up his throat.

"Seems like the retaliation out weighs the crime of a bacon switch." He said, humming as he reached over and lightly touched the shiny pink paint. "I could...fix it if you want. Shouldn't be too hard unless Sam enchanted the paint."

"He has been spending more time with Rowena, so it's possible." Dean hummed as he looked between the car and Gabriel. "Perhaps you can help me get him back...make him think he's bald every time looks in a mirror, that his shoes squeak in a way that sounds like a fart every time he walks."

Gabriel let Dean ramble for a moment, the brunettes' ideas good ones and under a different circumstance he would have wholeheartedly offered his services but seeing as how the younger Winchester was completely innocent it dimmed the delight he would have felt. He shifted a bit more from foot to foot before holding his hand up to stop Dean in his planning.

"Look Deano, normally I would help you and those sound like really good tricks to play, specially the bald in every mirror trick. But...Sam didn't do this to your car." He found himself saying; his eyes trained on the ground. "I did it. I thought it would be funny to see your reaction to seeing the car in pink.."

It was quiet and Gabriel risked a look up to see Dean just staring at him; his expression blank before the man melted before his eyes. Gabriel jumped back in horror and watched as the puddle that once was Dean Winchester seemed to pulsate on the floor before it reconstructed itself and staring at him with a smirk on his face stood Crowley.

"Listen Feathers 2.0 just because Squirrel seems to enjoy your company, it doesn't mean that he won't fry your wings extra crispy if you mess with this thing. Count your lucky stars that your Boy Toy is out with Feathers 1.0 on some sort of inter-dimensional run or another and that Moose seen you creeping around on the camera system and decided to send me in to fix this. Now clean up your mess before Squirrel gets back and takes matters into his own hands."

Crowley said nothing more before snapping his fingers and disappearing from the garage leaving Gabriel alone staring at the pink Impala. After a moment Gabriel snapped his fingers and the car was once again it's original shiny black, the paint gleaming under the lights. With one last look Gabriel snapped his fingers and disappeared into the ether.
